Our lovely FTB 🙄have requested wheelie bins be included after generous discount… many unreasonable requests met!

AIBU to leave dead nan ashes under the floorboards & take the wheel bins as a summer plunge pool for the kids 🫣

You can’t take the wheelie bins, you lunatic! They are a council resource, you leave them with the house.

Wheelieusefulbinlover · 16/05/2024 23:19

Not every council provides wheelie bins for free. Mine doesn't, we had to order ours for £50 each! I paid for them, they're mine to take with me like my garden furniture

Ah. Didn't know that.

In my area, your council tax pays for them.

K0OLA1D · 16/05/2024 23:24

This is a wind up??

Copperoliverbear · 16/05/2024 23:25

I would not dream of taking my wheelie bins.

Needmorelego · 16/05/2024 23:26

Surely wheelie bins are the perfect way to meet the neighbours.
"Hi...just moved in next door. I see there's a blue bin and a green bin. Can you tell me what goes in what please and what day is collection. Thanks"
And then thanks to your new gossip of a neighbour you will have all the details of who is the street binfluencer, who never takes theirs in and who sneaks around at 4am to put their rubbish in other people's bins.....

Was your £50 a one off fee when you purchased a new house maybe? I can see why they would make charge but most people would I think assume that when they move the next house will already have bins so leave them behind, it’s a fee for having them emptied really.

We pay to have our garden waste removed by the council, £40 per year, but that doesn’t give us ownership of the bin.

PinkSunsetSky · 16/05/2024 23:26

I’ve never heard of this 😆
I’ve moved multiple times and would never dream of taking a scabby wheely bin.
You just “ inherit “ the wheely bins left for you by previous owners.

Spidey66 · 16/05/2024 23:27

It wouldn't occur to take the bins. I assumed they belonged to the council. Most have the name of the council on them. We're moving soon, why would we want bins with our current council name and logo when we're going to one a couple of hundred miles away?

Copperoliverbear · 16/05/2024 23:27

I think this must be a joke.

Superstoria · 16/05/2024 23:27

I have bought and sold many properties over the decades and I have never ever encountered or heard of anyone taking their wheelie bin with them! So YABU.

Wheelieusefulbinlover · 16/05/2024 23:27

InWalksBarberalla · 16/05/2024 23:22

Are you sure you can take them with you ? We pay our council too for the bin but it still isn't ours to take - more like a fee to use it.

I see what you mean but my council don't do wheelie bins at all. People have to buy their own so every house has different ones, not like in some areas where the council give them out for free and have the logo on. So to me, a wheelie bin is something very useful I've paid for which is why I compared it to garden furniture.

I wouldn't either.

I recently sold a house. In amongst the long list of things that had to be done, sent by the buyer's solicitor, it was specified that I had to leave the bins. (I was doing that anyway.)

2chocolateoranges · 16/05/2024 23:27

Do people take their wheelie bins with them when they move? How bizarre

MaggieFS · 16/05/2024 23:28

This has got to be a piss take, no one take a wheelie bin with them.

Needmorelego · 16/05/2024 23:29

I do remember passing a house on my way to work many years back that had one with "Property of Bradford City Council" printed on it always sat out by the front door.
I didn't live in Bradford 😂

Moveoverdarlin · 16/05/2024 23:30

No one takes wheelie bins with them when they move. If you move and worse case the new property doesn’t have them. You order them from the council website.

Same here (garden waste bin only) and it allegedly has a microchip in it, when you purchase it you are told you will have to take it with you if you move to a new house in this council area.

Femme2804 · 16/05/2024 23:35

Whellie bin its council op its not yours. Never in my life i take whellie bin when i move and i move a lot.

PinkSunsetSky · 16/05/2024 23:36

The only people who pay for wheely bins here are people who buy new builds , but then you buy your bins and they belong to that house.
If you move , you leave them .
Who would take bins , what if you took your three wheely bins ( we have three here ) and got to your next house and then you would have 6 😆.
Love a good bin chat 😆

Wonkypictureframe · 16/05/2024 23:37

I can well imagine the waste people refusing to empty a wheelie bin not from their area too. And I wouldn’t blame them.

What were the other unreasonable requests?

Four bins in my area: landfill, plastics, paper and brown (for garden waste).

I’m loving that taking my wheelie bin is unreasonable but popping a teaspoon of nans ashes underneath the floorboards to haunt the tight fuckers hasn’t picked up on…
