Our lovely FTB 🙄have requested wheelie bins be included after generous discount… many unreasonable requests met!

AIBU to leave dead nan ashes under the floorboards & take the wheel bins as a summer plunge pool for the kids 🫣

So mumsnet has spoken, I’ll leave the bin. As people have suggested, we live in an area which do not provide bins and we’ve purchased it. Our new property doesn’t have one either.

maybe this is a massive drip feed but the discount is for a cat flap that can be seen in pics, seen in person and was negotiated after a survey (which didn’t show much!)

so maybe I’ll leave them nan & the cat.

Your local council doesn't supply your wheelie bins?? WTF??

Do people take wheelie bins with them?!

I did when I moved 😂 only because I had a large bin. The house I moved to had a single person bin so I took mine with me, took the small bin to the old house and emailed the council to tell them why and where I'd moved to. They were fine and let me keep it. I just put new stickers on 😂

Sellthishousetorhosecunts · 22/05/2024 21:26

Sorry, busy packing & not just the bins - although unscrewing each lightbulb means lots of candle lit dinners 🙄
-they requested £1500 off for the door (oak), we agreed £750.
We have exchanged, the fixtures and fittings form is as it stands. The bin is joining us, the removal company said it’s becoming a normal request, so there you go mumsnet it’s the the times - vote well July the 4th

lastly to the person who said the word nan was the most offensive thing. Nan was a nan. Although I may be wanting to put her under the floorboards (some may feel this is disrespectful) she did like the hoover and I’m sure she will enjoy the holistic journey.

I've never known anyone not leave the bins. They're not yours and taking them wouldn't normally do you any good anyway. What use would I have for a wheelie bin of the wrong colour with the name and logo of the wrong council on it?

Wheelieusefulbinlover · 22/05/2024 22:32

This thread is still going and people are still not reading further than the first post and still saying bollocks like 'the bins belong to the council' - aarrgghhh!

As me and others have pointed out, there are councils that don't provide wheelie bins and you have to buy your own. Amazingly, these councils have somehow acquired bin lorries that can empty wheelie bins of any colour, from any shop.

Yes, it's clear from this thread that my council tax is a joke but I bought my wheelie bin and I'm bloody well taking it with me when I sell. I'm tempted to write a will requesting to be buried in it 😂

GanninHyem · 23/05/2024 14:50

It's become a normal request to move manky wheelie bins, full of rubbish for the sake of what, £50? God I'm glad I have standards.

It’s not just £50! It can be upwards of a £100 just for two bins, more if you have more bins and crates. Plus if you read the thread - some councils are telling people to take their bins with them. So you take your bins - which you can always clean with several buckets of hot soapy water.

You think taking a wheelie bin shows no standards and I think your bragging £50 isn't a lot of money shows no standards

I’m loving that taking my wheelie bin is unreasonable but popping a teaspoon of nans ashes underneath the floorboards to haunt the tight fuckers hasn’t picked up on…

I mean yeh cuz taking the bin is weird but everyone leaves their nan under the stairs right??

In the context of selling a house - no, £50 isn’t a lot of money nor would I be going to the hassle of transporting used and therefore dirty wheelie bins for the sake of it

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 23/05/2024 20:27

@goldenretrievermum5 not even if the council told you to???
now that’s wierd.!

I do find it very weird that you and OP seem to be part of the tiny (and questionable) minority of people who are asked by the council to bring their bin with them when moving house. Somehow in my 50 years and countless house moves I have dodged this so called ‘rule’

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 23/05/2024 20:51

@goldenretrievermum5 aced how to tell me you’ve not read the whole thread……! 10/10

there is a sizeable amount of posters who have said they a) have had to source and buy their own bins and several who have said the council have told them to take their bins with them. Even movers are saying it’s increasingly common to take your bins with you. Entirely likely as more councils become cash strapped that these two things will increase as a way of reducing expenditure, after all a lot of council now charge extra for green waste collection despite that once being commonly free to households.

And yes, I’ve moved a lot around the Uk in my 60+ years!

LittleGreenDragons · 16/05/2024 23:17

The wheelie bins stay with the property. They aren't yours, they belong to the council. Where do you do live if you believe they go with you?

Normally I’d agree with you, but our council have just made us buy new bin boxes for recycling as they broke our other ones - when we move the boxes I bought are very much coming with me!!

Kathryn1983 · 24/05/2024 22:44

Are you for real
who moves house and takes the fucking bins
unless you are moving down the road what would be the point!?
I wouldn't ever have asked as a buyer I'd have downright assumed the bins came with the house 🤯

I’ve never thought of this scenario before I had to buy mine Council didn’t provide them.. don’t know what I’d do now after reading these comments 😂🙈
