The secret to 50+ diet & exercise

Sorry posting here for traffic. But for the last 3 months I have been doing the daily 4 x 1 minute planking & wall sits as recommended by Michael Mosley, and also been living off chaffles. (Cheesy egg waffles) I had never been massively overweight until my late 40s, I’m nearly 52, but the combination of the chaffles & really simple exercises has been a game changer for me. The weight has dropped off me, chaffles are delicious & you can make sandwiches out of them for work.

I’d really struggled to lose those menopause pounds, but so delighted to see a change.

@JosiePosey I think based on 6 large eggs, 125g mozzarella, 150g cheddar these are only 120g per chaffle as I can make 12 small chaffles from a mix with that in. I understand where you are coming from but these are best consumed from a low carb / no calorie counting perspective. Which for me works as I want to eat delicious food without calorie counting. @Pinkfluffypencilcase you should succumb to a chaffle ! I’m not a big chocolate eater but for some weird reason had a real craving for it over the weekend 😀Back on the chaffle plan now. ! Well done with your planks.
@londonmummy1966 I’m liking the marmite idea, but please don’t cut back on the cheese!

Unfortunately, post meno, I have to watch calories as well as carbs 😔 🙄

Totally understand. It’s all about finding something that works. And what might work for one person doesn’t necessarily work for someone else. X

In the interests of further research for this thread I tried making cottage cheese chaffles using the recipe @JosiePosey linked with a bit of grated cheddar. I'm afraid it didn't work as the mixture stuck to the waffle maker. To be fair to the author she did say it was sticky and that she oils her baking parchment before making her flat breads. SO it was cottage cheese scrambled eggs for lunch instead today.

PuppyMonkey · 04/06/2024 17:42

I’m just updating to say I’ve given up with this a bit. I don’t know if I’m just weird but I was finding them really sickly? Not really worked as a replacement for bread for me I’m afraid! Sad

On the challenge here too, loving the chaffles.

Been doing the exercises during bed time routine. Floss teeth, wall sit, plank, Brush teeth (alternate balancing) and wall sit, plank...take makeup off wall sit, plank..

My massive challenge is finding time for exercise as I pull really long hours at work so this has been a bit of a game changer. Thanks OP.

I think I read this is a Michael Mosley innovation. Just read that he is missing in Greece 😞

DramaLlamaBangBang · 06/06/2024 14:49

Yes I just heard that. I hope he's OK.

Beatrixslobber · 06/06/2024 15:07

Awful news

As much as I respect MM (fast800 truly changed my life) it is not his innovation. Chaffles been a feature in the low carb world a long time.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 06/06/2024 15:56

I hope he will be ok. I lost 5 stone on the 5:2. Thanks to him.

ChaffleLifeChanging · 06/06/2024 18:38

That’s awful news about MM, I really do hope he is alright.

@jeaux90 so glad this is working for you. It’s not for everyone but if you get it, you get it ! I’ve been so pleased to be able to fit this into my routine too.

Right, giving chaffles a go!

ChaffleLifeChanging · 07/06/2024 21:17

Really worrying about MM. I know that there is a big trending thread on MN and a lot of speculation but this makes me feel so sad.

Really ill this week, massive bug and bronchitis... so eating normally. Bk to it monday all being well

ChaffleLifeChanging · 09/06/2024 16:04

@Loubelle70 hope you’re feeling better.

So sad about MM, I’ve followed his advice for so long, he’s so inspirational. It’s strange as people in the media die all of the time, and it’s sad, but this one has really got me.

Never forgotten Dr. Michael. 💙💙💙
