😨😨😨😨
’I’ve just shit my pants, literally’

He messaged me this today from work.
He’s not been feeling well recently and complains of a funny tummy in front of our Dd, 6.

Aibu to feel totally put off by this and to just not want to know? Or am I just a cold, uncaring person?!

'My dh had to clean up my shit after I had dd2 unexpectedly on the living room floor along with blood. He didn't complain. When I was struggling with my broken ankle and managing the loo he offered to help.'

2 valid and completely different scenarios, her dh was at work. Although tbh I'm not sure a broken ankle would stop me getting to the loo in time.

I was on crutches for the first time ever as was totally non weight-bearing and like I say I have ibs so he'd offered to help if I hadn't made it etc. He didn't have to though, I managed even after falling off them one morning and having to crawl to bathroom as I couldn't get back up.

Hoglet70 · 16/05/2024 21:55

Oh bless him! As someone with IBD who has shit my pants on a few occasions and made sure DH knows about it, I would probably laugh. We all shit!!! Hopefully not often in our pants but it does happen.

ShadesofPoachedSmoke · 16/05/2024 21:58

@Lovinglife57 that's funny coming from the poster who quoted themselves then replied to the quote "your (sic) welcome" Grin

I just going to assume you're really drunk now.

ShadesofPoachedSmoke · 16/05/2024 22:00

And nobody should be flushing pants down a loo for goodness sake, super fast way to block a system. And bring everything back up with it.

As someone with very dodgy bowels, if I didn't normalise it then it would be awful. Being ashamed of bowel movements and accidents when you have a chronic condition would be horrendous. Maybe I am a bit too down in the depths though as a result 😂

What are you talking about I was messages thanks I said you’re welcome …just for the record I don’t drink never have so who is the drunk one sweetie 🤔

Oldandcobwebby · 16/05/2024 22:04

Well, aren't you a charmer? A bit of compassion and empathy wouldn't go amiss, you know.

StarShipControl · 16/05/2024 22:04

No it wouldn't. I'd be sending him off to the dr as it would be a very worrying thing to have happened, if he was bedridden with some extreme sickness or something.

I only said it wouldn't put me off and why 😊

NotTerfNorCis · 16/05/2024 22:15

Yes at one point, but my OH says things like this and I got used to it.

toothache23 · 16/05/2024 22:15

A new boyfriend, maybe. But my husband and I are often say revolting things to one another. If you can't be comfy with your spouse who can you be comfy with?

Caerulea · 16/05/2024 22:19

How would you feel if your DH collapsed, had to be rushed to hospital & they needed to know about his health - wouldn't you feel a bit of a tit throwing your arms in the air & going 'no idea! I find it all rather icky'.

It's important to talk about this stuff imo, even just in a joking manner and ESPECIALLY men who are notorious for not getting help when they need it!

CreamLampshade · 16/05/2024 23:48

No. I’d be concerned. Tell him to go to the doctors, especially if he has recurring issues. Losing control of one’s bowels is a symptom of Bowel cancer (amongst other things).

livefully · 16/05/2024 23:51

I'd assume he was telling me because he's got some distress about the incident and I'm a safe person. I'd say something like, "Oh no, poor you," and ask if he needed some help (like fresh clothes). You know - some care and compassion like I'd want if I did something that embarrassing.

I was at a group meeting a few weeks ago and an elderly woman wet herself. I was next to her and didn't make a big deal about it and discreetly helped her get sorted. One day that old lady could be me and I'd appreciate someone with some compassion in an already upsetting situation.

GivePeaceAChance · 16/05/2024 23:52

Do you live in Devon OP ?
ie. Contaminated water

LakieLady · 16/05/2024 23:55

thanKyouaIMee · 16/05/2024 20:08

I've sent similar to my DH in jest 😂

I'd be worried incase he was really ill and probably a bit concerned if he was being serious tbh.

Me too.

The only time I've come close to shitting my pants was when I had campylobacter, and I was really bloody ill. I thought I was going to have to sleep on the bog for fear of shitting the bed.

It was a bit of a shock too, as I've got cast iron guts and had never really had an upset stomach, never mind something that gave me a raging fever and uncontrollable, agonising shits.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 16/05/2024 23:58

If I had a stomach bug and shat myself at work, it would be noteworthy enough to talk about with my partner, yes 😂

edited to add - I did actually have a stomach bug recently that made me have accidents if I couldn’t run to toilet in time 😭 luckily I was at home, but hopefully my DH wasn’t too “put off”

So what if he farts at home? Everyone does it..

Mumoftwinsandasingleton · 17/05/2024 00:00

I find this hilarious just from reading it, but I wouldn't laugh if my actual husband had such bad health that he was pooing his pants. I'd take him to the hospital to get him checked over properly if something more severe than diarrhoea. To be honest I probably wouldn't take him to the hospital
