I saw on the BAFTA’s the other night that she got some special award and I was genuinely wondering does anyone like her? I’ve never known anyone who does so I wanted to ask on here.
Personally I have no idea how she’s kept a job on tv for so long and can only assume that she’s got a lot of dirt on people. In her acceptance speech she thank her Mum for her work ethic which I thought was quite funny as she only does 4 hours a week if she feels like it. Not to mention the whole tax avoidance thing. Just curious

Funny old back pedal there OP.

You were so curious that you thought you'd say she only stayed in a job because she had dirt on people, that she only worked four hours a week and threw in 'tax avoidance thing' for good measure, when we all know she won the case against her. Pretty damning 'curiosity' there.

HauntedPencil · 16/05/2024 09:50

All of which is fine to hold as an opinion? It's not like she was making fun of her face or something.

I think the VERY UNPLEASANT THREAD barrage is a bit unwarranted tbh.

Must we love all the celebrities? Is no one allowed to be criticised?

She was a high profile one of hundreds when there was a change in HMRC regulations in 2017 (IR35?). ITV and the BBC use hundreds of freelance people to avoid sick pay, holiday pay etc. But they are free to sell their services across various platforms. It's not illegal and can be extrapolated across many industries.

Sick pay etc and employment rights aside, the major saving for BBC, ITV etc is Employer's National Insurance - that was the real prize and benefited the companies not the presenters.

Toxicinlawz · 16/05/2024 09:54

There's even a twitter page dedicated to the number of hours she works.. or doesn't work more to the point. 🤣

Dita73 · 16/05/2024 09:55

@Churchview yes that’s my opinion and I was interested in other people’s opinions

@HauntedPencil OP has described her in a less than kind, and importantly, far from accurate way.

Whether it's LK, who I do like, or someone I don't like, I'd object to an opening line which isn't that factual.

Folk can dislike her for actual reasons (eg not liking her interview style) not misconceptions (assuming she only works 4 hours because that's her air time - do actors starring in 1.5 hr long films only work1 5 hrs? Clearly not).

pantsalot · 16/05/2024 06:33

She didn't avoid tax, HMRC got it wrong. Same as they did with Kaye Adams. HMRC needs a big shake up.

Hmrc didn't get it wrong it's just that their own rules are so stupid when it comes to employed or acting as a ltd company that things got so confusing.

Einwegflasche · 16/05/2024 09:58

Dita73 · 16/05/2024 09:55

@Churchview yes that’s my opinion and I was interested in other people’s opinions

It's not based on facts though, hence the outcry.

Cluelessaf · 16/05/2024 06:41

Very unpleasant thread

I agree.

It says more about you op than the person you are talking shit about.

Dita73 · 16/05/2024 09:59

@dayaftertomorrou yeah fair enough

HauntedPencil · 16/05/2024 09:59

Why has she got to be kind to Lorraine Kelly?

Churchview · 16/05/2024 09:59

@Dita73 Your opinions based on absolutely no facts.

Tax issue - proved untrue in court.
Dirt issue - no evidence whatsoever.
Working four hours issue - clearly wrong.

HauntedPencil · 16/05/2024 09:59

Why has she got to be kind to Lorraine Kelly?

It's not that she was unkind (although unkind is generally though of a bad thing, isn't it?)

The problem is that she made stuff up.

Dita73 · 16/05/2024 10:02

@Churchview are you her mum by any chance?

OP posts:
lollipoprainbow · 16/05/2024 10:04

Can't stand her or her irritating nepo baby.

HereComesTheYellowTrain · 16/05/2024 10:04

I've met her a few times through work, she was always lovely.

Einwegflasche · 16/05/2024 10:04

HauntedPencil · 16/05/2024 09:59

Why has she got to be kind to Lorraine Kelly?

She doesn't have to 'be kind' to LK.
She could just ignore LK.
She could make sure any threads she chooses to start on LK are factually correct.
She could accept that while lots of us don't love every celebrity, we also don't indulge in or encourage unfounded gossip.

Churchview · 16/05/2024 10:05

Ha. No I'm not. If I was I'd be very proud of her.

You don't have to be someone's mum to dislike it if people make up stories and talk rubbish about them.

Dita73 · 16/05/2024 10:06

@Einwegflasche bloody hell it was just a question! I’m not sitting here with a doll that looks like her and sticking pins in it!

Are you going to disagree with every point I make, for the sake of it?
My point stands.
My point is not binary.
I'm going to leave it there, have a pleasant day.

You're extremely sensitive, I've only addressed 2 posts to you. You've posted dozens of times as LK's one woman army defender, of course you're going to get responses.

curiositykilledthiscat · 16/05/2024 10:07

She’s a tax avoiding bad actress. How anyone fell for her act is beyond me.

Churchview · 16/05/2024 10:08

It wasn't just a question though, was it?

Dita73 · 16/05/2024 10:09

@Churchview to me it was

No, but we don’t have to start a very specific thread to allow people to come on and say they hate someone (the reason most people start threads with a celebrity’s name on). Imagine in real life if someone put your name up somewhere and said ‘opinions please? Do we hate her, do we like her? I think she’s x or y’.
