I saw on the BAFTA’s the other night that she got some special award and I was genuinely wondering does anyone like her? I’ve never known anyone who does so I wanted to ask on here.
Personally I have no idea how she’s kept a job on tv for so long and can only assume that she’s got a lot of dirt on people. In her acceptance speech she thank her Mum for her work ethic which I thought was quite funny as she only does 4 hours a week if she feels like it. Not to mention the whole tax avoidance thing. Just curious

I don't like her much, and have heard she’s difficult to work with. But I don’t think her working part time is anything to slag her off about.

Edited

Women are often described as difficult to work with when they know their own mind.

Einwegflasche · 16/05/2024 08:36

@Whatafustercluck she was born in 1959, she's probably not the only woman who works part time at that age either. I don't mean that in an ageist way, just that it's not uncommon to cut hours/retire! 😀

burnoutbabe · 16/05/2024 08:39

She is twaw

But she also got Katherine stock on to discuss her book even though she said she didn't agree. But it was still a polite discussion that was unusual for 2 years ago on breakfast tv. She must have agreed or encouraged that appearance.

The tax thing is just that actors can claim agents fees against tax but presenters can't-so she claims she is acting as Lorraine Kelly persona. It's a fairly daft /arbitrary rule to have anyway. She won if I recall correctly.

sugarbyebye · 16/05/2024 08:39

She seems lovely to me, and good on her for giving her all for the hours she works. Her shows aren’t for me but none of those format shows are. I thought she was hilarious in murder in Successville

God Alive aren't we allowed to say we don't like Lorraine Kelly any more?

Yep, the irony in calling OP a bitch seems for having an alternative opinion seems lost on them.

I mean the TV Lorraine persona is definitely not the real life Lorraine - she's essentially cultivated a brand which happens to have the same name as her (like Madonna, Taylor Swift, Piers Morgen and so on).

Funkyslippers · 16/05/2024 08:45

Well I don't like her on her show but away from the cameras she's probably v pleasant. She was a hoot on Ant & Dec and The Masked Singer

And it's ridiculous for the OP to say she only works 4 hours a week. What, you think she just rolls in at 9am every morning and leaves an hour later?

RenoDakota · 16/05/2024 08:45

I have never had strong feelings either way about Lorraine. Until yesterday when I read what she had said about the new portrait of King Charles:
"I have to say I’m not a fan. I kind of think he’s looking at me through the gates of hell".
I totally agree with her about the hideous red thing, and have a new admiration for her for being so open about it!

Someone behaving in a bitchy manner doesn't mean they are a bitch. What is the point of the thread, if not to randomly bitch?

MuscariFan · 16/05/2024 08:47

Don't watch her show, but anything I have seen of her I've quite liked her. The woman is 64 too, bet she's working harder than a lot of 64 year old people (and indeed those much younger).

stayathomer · 16/05/2024 08:48

Lorraine Kelly must genuinely be the most asked about- does anyone like her - all people ask on both twitter and here. Why do you care?! It’s like ‘This Morning’ always trending- why do people watch it if it makes them so angry (and mean!!!)

Highfivemum · 16/05/2024 08:49

She is lovely and very down to earth. Us ladies need to champion the older females on TV not put them down. I really like her and yes she is lovely outside of TV too

GerbilStyle · 16/05/2024 08:50

Is Lorraine's entire staff on here?

TinselSniffer · 16/05/2024 08:51

I don't watch her program but I think she comes across as kind, warm and likeable every time I've seen/heard her. She was really good in her program about Lockerbie and on Gyles Brandreth's podcast where she talked about her life.

Sunshineandpinkclouds · 16/05/2024 08:51

I do find her a bit annoying but I think she plays the dumb down version on her show to appeal to the masses and actually she's very intelligent.

I applaud the fact there's a 64 yr old woman in a prime time morning slot so good for her as there's a lot of ageism in tv that women have to overcome.

Eggmoobean · 16/05/2024 08:52

Not a fan I’m afraid.

Do you say that when all the swifties jump to TS's defence, or just when it's a more mature Scottish lady doing well for herself?

justasoul · 16/05/2024 08:54

Don’t have a strong opinion about Lorraine either way, but I bloody hope I’m working “4-hour-weeks” when I’m in my mid-60s… Grin
Curious mismatch between the poll and the replies though.

Einwegflasche · 16/05/2024 08:56

@justasoul some folk maybe just don't like her but don't know why? To be fair polls and comments often don't match.

What an odd thing to say, there are threads about virtually every celebrity on MN, male and female. LK is not being discriminated against for being Scottish 🙄

I didn't say that she was.
I simply questioned where the comment had come from.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 16/05/2024 09:00

Crikey how is the woman herself able to name change so quickly? Never known so many people to like her! Nah, I can't stand her either and not sure I know anyone who does!

GerbilStyle · 16/05/2024 09:02

It's because on the page OP was being called a bitch which I thought was a bit unnecessary

I don't know, she does seem to have quite the 'accent'. Yes, I'm Scottish!

justasoul · 16/05/2024 09:02

@Einwegflasche it’s possible, yes - it’s just that I saw the poll first and was expecting a more Lorraine-bashing thread.
