Israel and Eurovision

I've seen all the protests that Israel shouldn't have been allowed to enter the Eurovision. I don't think politics should be part of eurovision

Has everyone forgotten that a lot of countries at this stage have invaded each other, and that a lot of countries have a bloody and violent past.

The United Kingdom invaded many countries and massacred and killed many many people in the past.

Germany have obviously started two world wars.

Spain have invaded countries and done a lot of brutality to people in the past.

Should none of these countries be allowed to enter eurovision then. If we are going to put politics into it, nearly every European country would be banned from eurovision.

Israel is far from the only country in the world that have invaded and massacred people. Its awful, but it has also been awful when other countries did it. And many of them have. So I'm not sure why there was just the call for Israel to be banned

As I said, I was asking because I thought it was something I hadn't encountered. And I am sorry about your bloody eyes, I have my own disability issues and it sucks. And the 750,000 Jews who were expelled from Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Jordan and other Arab countries in decade after 1948. Their property and assets confiscated with no compensation. Is that not Genocide?

The majority of the Jewish population of Israel is decended from these refugees and exceeds that of decendents of holocaust survivors from Europe.

That really escalated rather quickly. For what it's worth, I don't think he meant any kind of personal dig at all.

I saw the word Newish and actually wondered too if it was something like 'new Jewish', but then presumed you meant Jewish. It's not 'cunty' to ask the question at all.

Isn't this what some commentators are accusing Israel of - of perpetrating a genocide behind the cloak of the holocaust.

No one is denying the holocaust or the ethnic cleansing of Jews. No one.

But Never Again means never again for everyone.

I think you shouldn’t exclude a country but what irritated me was that the singer’s last name was ‘Golan’ which feels like a provocation. Definitely an inappropriate political statement. Here’s the Wikipedia definition of Golan heights:

The Golan Heights are a rocky plateau in the Levant region of Western Asia that was captured by Israel from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War. The international community, with the exception of Israel and the United States, generally regards the Golan Heights to be Syrian territory held by Israel under military occupation.

If its something you're accused of regularly... perhaps you need to consider that!

What evidence were you expecting? Intelligence reports? Do you usually disbelieve people who’ve had death threats made against them?
