Having watched her interview this evening, everything about her screamed 'liar'. Her language, her demeanor, her body language. I just wonder what other think?

She is now bombarding Janey Godley with messages on X and calling her a liar because she sides with the writer of Baby Reindeer

She's also been giving a journalist a hard time too , 69 phone calls and 48 voice messages in 3 days .

Until we see the ‘thousands’ of emails and voice mails we can’t actually know. Or at least hear there’s incontrovertible proof of such. I’m ready to be shot down in flames but I honestly didn’t think she sounded particularly ‘mad’. Relatively composed and together for someone who’s in her position right now. Yes some sus bits like her degree marks but nothing truly loopy. She could have been a sobbing raving mess considering the public outing and the online trolling she’s had. Im just concerned the whole thing was maybe six of one and half a dozen of the other between her and Richard Gadd. The guys definitely got a nerve writing it, acting it and publicising it. He’s a performer at heart so it could well be an extremely embellished piece of performance ‘art’ more loosely based on events than true per se. We’ll probably never know. Can’t help pitying the woman either way.

It was difficult viewing. I wonder why she thought it was a good idea to have an interview with him. And why was she so cagey about the degree? Why did she not just make up the grade if she didn't do it

She got an ordinary degree. I'm not 100% sure as I did an Honours degree, but I don't think they are graded. I think she just didn't understand the question.

CountessWindyBottom · 11/05/2024 20:23

I found the interview fascinating and quite sad. She is articulate, apparently credible and clearly quite bright. She is also, I dare to assert, suffering from quite a significant personality disorder and I genuinely think that she believes what she says, which in turn, leads to her credibility. I think she is quite vulnerable and irrespective of the negative views people hold about her, she did not ask for this publicity. Yes, she went on this show and probably does crave attention to some degree, but I’m not sure being interrogated by Piers Morgan was the right way to go.

I loved Baby Reindeer and found it complex, disturbing and so very interesting but I now question Gadd’s motives and I’d be wary of vilifying a clearly unwell woman.

Ordinary degrees aren't graded. If she was aiming to become a solicitor, she'd have done four years at university - a three year ordinary degree and a one year post grad Diploma in Legal Practice. Doing an honours degree, followed by the DLP would have meant five years at university.

When I did my law degree at Aberdeen Uni a couple of years before her, I did an ordinary, as did the majority of my year. It wasn't seen as "lesser" because most of us were doing a fourth year at university anyway, as the DLP was compulsory for anyone wanting to become a solicitor. The four year ordinary plus DLP was seen as the equivalent of a four year honours degree.

I suppose law was a bit different from other degrees in this respect, but there was absolutely nothing unusual about an ordinary law degree.

If she went on to start a legal traineeship after university that implies she did the post grad year after her ordinary degree.

Is she the same Fiona Harvey on X? That person is incredibly racist and has 54.3K posts but nothing since 2018.

I don't see this either, can you link, please?

lemonmeringueno3 · 11/05/2024 21:21

She sounded coherent in the interview because her grandiose, narcissistic personality disorder means she either truly believes she's right or she thinks she's such a clever, master manipulator that everyone will unquestioningly believe her. Maybe you have to know someone like that to understand how dangerous and deluded they are.

This thread has a weird effect on me, it makes me really wish I had done law at uni🤔

Why not give it a try now? If she's right, you don't even need to spell or know how to pronounce key words. I'm not saying she's lying; I've worked on the other side of university departments desperately wanting their students to succeed in order to secure funding for the year ahead (call me cynical).

shehasglasses48 · 11/05/2024 21:43

More worried that Piers Morgan still has air time.

Allimaskingforisalittlerespect · 11/05/2024 22:07

It was strange when she kept repeating that she’d seen about the show on ‘BBC breaking news’ Was it even on there as being breaking news??!

@SunnyUpland, comment, as requested

I do hope it is someone who has reached out to support her. I think the profile has now been removed or made private. Perhaps someone helped her do that or encouraged her to. But it does seem that she is very isolated and that is not good for the human psyche. Loneliness can make us all a little crazy.

Actually I wonder if she was reading this and that promoted her to remove her Facebook page!

Chaoseverywhere · 11/05/2024 22:38

I can see the same fb page up

Allimaskingforisalittlerespect · 11/05/2024 22:39

I’ve seen the Fb page, I really don’t think it’s fake?

Moonmelodies · 11/05/2024 22:46

Maybe she's another actress on Netflix's payroll - hired to keep the momentum going and drive more viewers to the show.

ChickyBricky · 11/05/2024 22:47

What I found fascinating (and I'm only up to episode 5) is her intuitive understanding of his trauma. No one else gets this, including those who are supposed to be close to him.

That seems to be the name for a TV programme up in Scotland. Whether that's what she meant or not who knows!

I've seen it too, it's not fake . I think she may have a few accounts on there though.

She's right, though. I don't have loads of email addresses, but a lot of people do because they want to protect their online identity.

Agreed, I had 7 emails in the 90s because AOL gave them to me automatically! They all had the same password so easy to remember. I still have them, though don’t use them much as AOL security is a bit lax.

Similarly with Gmail, it lets you have multiple email addresses all stored under one header.

They have come in handy when buying things that give a discount to first orders.

pootlin · 11/05/2024 23:33

JeepSleeHack · 11/05/2024 09:03

I have never seen a Tv series that starts with the phrase This Is A True Story.

I have seen loads of series that start with Based on a true story, or Some elements have been changed etc…

But regardless, the fictional bits were all hugely damaging: prior conviction and prison sentence, assaulting Teri, and most importantly the custodial sentence for stalking RD.

I agree with this. Given the ease with which people found Fiona Harvey, I think a good lawyer could argue that the fictional bits are defamatory.

pootlin · 11/05/2024 23:35

I dislike Piers, but I think he was quite restrained with her and he tried to be balanced, which makes me think he is aware she is mentally unwell and that he shouldn’t have done the interview.

JeepSleeHack · 12/05/2024 00:22

I really don’t think it’s a Gadd vs FH thing. I think Gadd had the opportunity for a life-changing career break, and was led by the guidance and advice from the production company he was working with. At what point does he realise and pull out of the whole project?

From my understanding of his two stage shows BR were based on, his original writing was much more nuanced and an exploration of his role, a sense of shame in his complicity, his awareness of her vulnerabilities.

Again, her behaviour was awful. And there are many accounts of other people she has harassed (though to a lesser extent). I’m not excusing her at all, I just think the series is deeply problematic, and the blame needs to lie squarely with the Execs at Clerkenwell, Netflix and BBC studios. There’s way too much focus on Gadd vs FH.

JeepSleeHack · 12/05/2024 00:29

@pootlin I think even a rookie lawyer could secure a win for FH in the courts for defamation. The problem would be that FH herself - shes is so unwilling to admit the parts she is guilty of (the thousands of messages being the obvious example) that she just wouldn’t make a credible witness.
