Having watched her interview this evening, everything about her screamed 'liar'. Her language, her demeanor, her body language. I just wonder what other think?

I do not care if it is legal. It is morally totally wrong.

I was speaking specifically about the use of "this is a true story" as part of the opening titles (if you were replying to my post, apologies if not)

Does anyone have a theory why FH is so cool and collected, in front of the cameras?

Delusion and grandiosity. She’s convinced her story is true so she’s not anxious about being caught out lying as many people would be under the circumstances and she sees herself as an important person who deserves to be on national tv with famous people so why would she be intimidated by Piers and his little internet show?

From her FB posts, she seems to think she's very beautiful, and calls Jessica Gunning obese/overweight etc despite the fact she herself is clearly not slim. She believes she's untouchable and perfect and right, and there is no self-doubt there to quell that. Plus she's a narc, narcs thrive under attention.

Walesnotwhales · 10/05/2024 15:42

Oh god, I’ve got to the bit where PM just keeps going on at her about her grades.

I see, so similar to people who are convinced they're Napoleon.

I guess, re: Harvey and Morgan, two fantasists who obsess over someone who barely knows they exist were always going to be a good match.

ImWearingPantaloons · 10/05/2024 15:47

Have only watched the first episode which made for uncomfortable watching, and haven't daren't hunt down the Morgan interview as I loathe him.

However looking at her FB page there's no way she has a law degree, you'd need to be way more literate than that surely?

She's ill. Very ill.

To be fair she looked fairly well put together on TV. As I said, she reminded me of a politician.

I suppose they must do. I know a few women like this.

Her composure and control, when she was telling HER story were full deception.

She unravelled when Morgan went off topic, and she wasn’t prepared:

  1. Revealing her “lawyer boyfriend”, fully closed her eyes telling this where she had barely blinked for previous 20 mins.
  2. Her education and qualifications, grades. She could not answer this question at all - law degree? 2 other degrees? No grades YET claims a “photographic” memory which is a mythical kind of memory. Surely if can recall everything you see/ read can get good grades!

She might be unwell, but she can make her own decisions.

To me, Fiona held her own during the interview. She sounded like any politician on TV, identical, the same way of speaking. Very assertive, fluent in how she responded to the questions and didn't really trip up. She also really did not seem flustered or worried. She evaded some questions just like most politicians. I mean if I found myself in an unexpected media frenzy, I'd be blushing, mumbling, sounding stressed and probably defensive too. She just sounded like she was well briefed and held her head high.

I also thought I am a good reader of body language, tone of voice etc but she did sound very believable by and large. I presume she must be lying but I actually do know women who speak just like her, never flustered, always mega confident and quick to reply, never humble or unsure. Weird!!

I mean how come she is so media savvy?

I saw the exact opposite, she was assertive but her body language screamed deceitful to me .

People who think someone can’t have a degree because their SPAG are awful clearly hasn’t seen some of the work students produce in universities these days….

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 10/05/2024 16:16

The show does have a disclaimer at the end of the credits that says

"This programme is based on real events: however certain characters, names, incidents, locations, and dialogue have been fictionalised for dramatic purposes."

That might legally protect Netflix and Gadd. But I do think such an important statement should have been at the start so viewers had that in mind.

That's interesting, what sorts of mannerisms and body language did you find deceitful?

burnoutbabe · 10/05/2024 16:20

i had to check how to pronounce hyperbole after seeing it. its an easy word to get wrong if you only see it written down. i remember mentioning to my boss that after someone else was advising him on interview techniques, that i was pretty sure HYPER BOWL wasn't how it was prounced but to check.

However, watching a US show yesterday, they actually said Hyperbolic - as HYPER - BOLIC so thats confusing!

i knew the ordinary degree/honours being graded part.

Beryls · 10/05/2024 16:23

I haven't watched the programme or the interview but have read up about it all etc. It would seem Gadd got what he wanted - fame. Didn't make the rapist as clearly identifiable as he did the stalker did he? Wonder what that was?

And the fact she’s clearly not mentally stable. It’s exploitation.

tiredandabitfat · 10/05/2024 16:31

@FedUpAndTiredToday Yes, that's I'm saying. It was miscommunication. What she should have said was "I did an Ordinary degree, which is just pass/fail. It's the honours year in Scotland (year 4) in which you get a degree classification."

Piers didn't have knowledge of the Scottish system so it looked like she was lying, but in this instance I don't think she was.

She does have the degree.

But that's about the only thing I believe.

She wouldn't have "grades" with an ordinary Scots law degree. If she started a legal traineeship after university, she must also have a post-grad Diploma in Legal Practice. I wouldn't describe my post-grad DLP as "a degree" but it involves a year at university, so I wouldn't quibble if someone else described theirs as a post-grad degree.

Combattingthemoaners · 10/05/2024 16:34

Why are people falling over themselves to point out her inaccuracies and lies? She’s a prolific stalker and lives in a fantasy work. Of course it is going to be lies! Many seem to be missing the real issue of the interview being unethical.

I see what you are saying. Many, many people (myself included) would not cope being filmed for tv and being put on the spot like that.

She didn't mumble, blush, burst out crying, need a moment to compose herself, lose her train of thought etc.

She did manage to speak fluently, even if the content was evasive and didn't answer the question. That is somewhat hard to do without just clamming up.

I think she just has such a high opinion of herself, and such a low opinion of others, that she doesn't really think through what she's saying. She just lets it flow and expects others to believe it, and gets very angry when they don't.

At the very end, when PM asked her to look into the camera and speak to the viewers, what she said was just garbage.

ImWearingPantaloons · 10/05/2024 16:36

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel really?
How on earth do they pass essays and reports when it's barely readable?

RazzlePuff · 10/05/2024 16:37

There’s an ethical question with NOT allowing Fiona speak.
If “we” decide she has MH issues, and “we” decide, for her own good, that she cannot appear in media. We are denying her freedom of speech, it’s disability discrimination. She is free to make mistakes & Eff-up her life.

she is not free to behave however she likes, and then get privacy / no consequences

I think she just has a very high opinion of herself, and a very low opinion of others. Expects everyone to just believe what she says, so she doesn't worry too much about what she says.

I think she has a severe personality disorder.
