Can't help thinking King Charles is selfish

1000 replies

Eieiom · 09/05/2024 11:12

Standing back, looking at the Harry situation, I can't help thinking that Charles is the root of all the family toxicity.

He had an affair while married to Diana, which led to their divorce and much unhappiness on her side. After her early death, his children were obviously in a lot of pain. The remote parenting style of the RF probably did little to soften this.
He's managed to marry his affair partner and now he's cutting off one of his sons.
Harry just looks like a really hurt person acting out to me. In most families, they would just be tolerated and forgiven.
I think the RF look very cold.

That’s not actually true, she was herself a member of the aristocracy, her father was Baron Fermoy, friend of George VI. Even in the 60s you’d have to have a good reason for separating a mother from their children.

But she was a woman.

The end

I don’t think Charles had affairs (plural). Apart from Camilla who else has he been linked with?

A couple of women whose names escape me but they may have been debunked?

Runnerinthenight · 09/05/2024 22:31

Footzok · 09/05/2024 22:18

Yup - as a nation the slightly younger generation and the real young ones all love Harry. We’ve seen him fall flat on his face and get back up a million times…he’s the underdog and flawed like us, and doesn’t have that ‘cold’ demeanour the rest of them can never shake off no matter how hard they try.

My theory is the RF have put their egos over survival of the firm. They’d rather see it fail than see H&M take over as the most popular royals, which they surely were on track to do. So they sat back and let the likes of Piers Morgan and the Daily Mail say all those things about the couple without intervening.

Just imagine how popular the RF would have been now had they all been able to get along. People went mad for H&M, hugging them and queuing up to see them and they loved the fab four together. People liked a princess with an opinion about how to make the world better….

Plus whatever has happened, life is much too short to cut off your son and brother.

What a load of utter nonsense.

Any rift has totally been caused by Harry, and there is something badly amiss if you can't see that.

Wallis actually wanted out. This was clear in her letters to her ex husband. She would have dumped Edward but it all moved so fast she was stuck with him. She found him insufferably uninspiring.

Served her right!

Was that not way before Diana?

Probably, but not in her head.

Doesn’t he advocate for illegal drug use or have I taken too many painkillers today and have made that up?

No he pretty much condones it by revealing his own use of it. Which wasn't big or clever.

I hope the painkillers are working x

ThoseBlueRememberedHills · 09/05/2024 22:36

I had sympathy for H and M until the Oprah interview which exposed the pair of them as hypocritical manipulative liars.

Faults lie with everyone but I can only assume Harry is thick as two short planks to think his way of handling himself is OK.

Onedayatatime8 · 09/05/2024 22:40

Runnerinthenight · 09/05/2024 21:55

He caused that himself, nobody else, other than his scheming wife that is. He's far from a "little boy" at nearly 40 and so far as love goes he has a wife and children!

Pray tell, when have the RF "vilified Harry"? Because it never happened!!!

Jeez calm down love it’s only an opinion. You seem a bit over invested

See I disagree.

im happy to pay for the RF as long as they are upholding historical culture (I confess I love the pomp and outfits and carriages and traditions) and are fulfilling a duty which isn’t too patronising and doesn’t take the piss. They can empower causes that want to make to world a better place, but as individuals they can’t be the paragon of this.

Whenever Meghan - as part of the Fab Four and as part of her ‘progressive new role’ - tries to wang on about female empowerment, to me it’s just total meaningless word salad. It means nothing - her 40 x 40 initiative was narcissistic and an utterly ridiculous concept that achieved absolutely nothing for no one. It was just her Hollywood opportunity to pretend she was a feminist rockstar, when really so many women lost their jobs in lockdown that she’d have been better using her money power and status to give actual practical help.

If the Royals want to survive they need to know what their people expect of them. I Most people I reckon get by every month on a modest lifestyle and income and for women we will experience sexism that is exacerbated by our lack of power, lack of wealth and lack of connections. So no I do NOT except a Princess who doesn’t have the first clue about what it’s like for normal everyday British women to struggle with sexism without the resources Princess has, to school me on what I can do to feel empowered. When I was pushed out my job due to sexual harassment that wasn’t taken seriously I had a distinct lack of power and connections and ability to hire a decent lawyer, I didn’t think “I’ll listen to Meghan tell me I can be anything I want to be and to channel the energy of She-Ra”. So I just quit.

That garbage about the real wedding taking place the day before. She told an absolute barefaced lie without any shame and thus trashed the ceremony all paid for by us mugs.

How do you know he’s cutting off his son? You can’t believe all the crap so called “sources” give to the press.

if it is true Harry has been cut off due to his behaviour.

It’s been debunked. They got £4.5million in 2020 from the sovereign grant

@YaMuvva sorry to hear that - it's awful. Probably too late now but did you have legal cover on your house insurance? I had to fight my employer tooth and nail years ago too - had a win of sorts - and I didn't know about it. DH (we were born under a lucky star!) also had a legal fight with his employer, and the house insurance covered all the costs for both solicitor and barrister.

Nah, I'm not convinced by that. I had a lot of sympathy for Harry until the Oprah interview and the book. But you can't go slagging off your family for the money and expect anything other than being cut out.

As if Charles didn't do an entire interview and write a whole book about his family and how his parents were not good parents who were cold and distant.

Not to mention not giving a thought to the poor Archbishop who then had to make it very clear he hadn’t committed a crime

Does that mean she ceased being a woman?

face it - an aristocratic man who’d had six affairs could easily tell the family courts his dutiful and faithful wife he was leaving was crazy and that’s all it would have taken for him to take the win

SluggyMuggy · 09/05/2024 22:55

so this thread now is simply lets rehash every made up thing that we can use to attack Harry and Meghan. And ignoring the many times the truth has been pointed out. But the truth spoils things. Much easier to attack people with myths and lies.

This was a few years ago and I didn’t at the time but I do now (and have actually used it for a property problem!).

I think what is was for me was that I was so done, so drained that leaving was easier than fighting. I was drained due to lack of power, and because power relies on people bestowing it upon us, I couldn’t just call a friend to make it all go my way like people like Meghan could and no doubt do

No, they just have Trump instead...

Donald Trump is a private citizen, being a former president of the United States. So are former presidents Obama, GW Bush, Clinton and Carter.

You know that.

Your attempt to paint the U.S. as all in for Mr. Trump is both highly prejudicial and inaccurate.

He didn’t write a book

He contributed to a biography in the same way Harry and Meghan did to Finding Freedom.

The difference is Harry and Meghan tell barefaced lies as well as speaking ‘their truth’. Charles just spoke his truth and left the lies out. He merely pointed out he was sent to a miserable boarding school where he was wildly unhappy and his mum only spent 30 minutes on an evening with him. Sounds pretty unpleasant to me.
