Or at least, for the love of sweet baby Jesus and all his chickens, read the OP's posts?

Especially if it's a long thread which may, you know, have moved on a little since the first post?

If you're so lazy and unengaged that you can't be arsed to check whether the OP of eg: a 200+ post thread in Relationships has added anything or updated their situation, why not just consider scrolling on by?

Cheers.

Who made you boss of mumsnet

I did - and sweet baby Jesus and the chickens agreed. So, for now,
@OldHabitsDieScreaming is the boss around here.

crumbledog · 08/05/2024 12:51

Have you thought about starting a thread about this op ?

TakeOnFlea · 08/05/2024 12:55

Bock bock ah

Allfur · 08/05/2024 12:55

It's unbelievably arrogant to tell other people how to post, just scroll on and chill out

Lardo, your boss hasn't returned, how will you know what to do?

Sorry but I thought Jesus died? Who is looking after his chickens?!?!

Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey

Absolutely 💯.

I think that if you can't read the post you have no idea what's going on.

OP, yes, there's no future in that relationship, you should get your stuff sorted and leave as soon as possible.

But will she get custody of the chickens?

Equally, it's unbelievably arrogant to not bother to read a thread or even the OPS posts and think you have some important, seering insight that hasn't already been posted and that must be posted.

"Scroll on and chill out" if you've missed a thread by dozens or hundreds of posts before bestowing your wisdom. I guarantee you weren't the first person to post that advice, particularly as it's often a one-liner.

Allfur · 08/05/2024 13:11

Some random on an Internet forum posting shouty sweary directives is a tad unhinged to me. Life goes on.

Surely it's just a matter of cancelling the cheque ?

OldHabitsDieScreaming · 08/05/2024 13:14

@Allfur

And yet you've posted 4 times (and counting)? Perhaps you should take your own advice and 'chill out'?

Or scroll on.

I really fancy a chicken sandwich now.

Oh, and while we're at it, people who resurrect zombie threads to give advice can fuck off as well.

Yabu. Someone posts a rant like this about once a week these days. Done to death.

Who made you boss of mumsnet

To be fair, OP’s advice, if people follow it, will keep a lot more of them from looking like the biggest arseholes on MN. Like a PP mentioned, everyone wishing her congrats on her baby when she’d updated posting about her miscarriage.

Or an absolutely horrifying thread recently where OP said in her OP that she was still enmeshed with her soon to be ex and they had slept together a few times still. I questioned OP because of how manipulative it sounded, and she admitted part of the reason for separation was repeated marital rape. And people were STILL piling on, based on the original post, “Well, you shouldn’t sleep with him if you want to break up,” having not read ANY updates.

Yes, someone can go ahead and comment without reading the OP’s comments (I am NOT saying anyone has to read a 20-page thread - just OP’s comments). We’ll all just be thinking they’re at best, a fucking idiot, and at worst, a heartless arsehole.

Delia123 · 08/05/2024 13:05

Well, the neighbours will have to sort that out. They shouldn't have removed the fence without speaking with the OP first.

BashfulClam · 08/05/2024 13:34

I agree child ages would be more useful than school year. I’m not in England so I give up when I see year x! Plus kids can vary in age in year groups depending on the age they started school, there was 10 months between me and one of my good school friends because she just made it into our year cut off.

This one could be addressed by closing threads which haven't been updated for 90 or 180 days. If an OP wants to come back with an update its rare enough that they could request a reopen.

I agree with your sentiment, fat chance of it happening - someone has to cancel all those cheques!

Lucytheloose · 08/05/2024 13:42

Soigneur · 08/05/2024 11:26

They don't even read the OP before spaffing their tripe. Try posting about a child in year 8 and watch how many have such poor reading attention they immediately respond with some irrelevant dross about 8 year olds.

Why is all the Year 8 bollocks necessary anyway? Why not just say how old the child is?

You can't eat the chicken, it's Jesus' personal pet and therefore off-limits.
