Or at least, for the love of sweet baby Jesus and all his chickens, read the OP's posts?

Especially if it's a long thread which may, you know, have moved on a little since the first post?

If you're so lazy and unengaged that you can't be arsed to check whether the OP of eg: a 200+ post thread in Relationships has added anything or updated their situation, why not just consider scrolling on by?

Cheers.

@HappiestSleeping wrong house! It's next door with naughty boy

Needhelp101 · 08/05/2024 12:02

You are the most not being unreasonable that anyone has ever been.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 08/05/2024 12:06

I don't remember anything about the Magi bringing gold, frankincense and chickens. Maybe it's a translation thing and scholars read Myrrh when it should have been 'and Muriel the Rhode Island Red'?

TaleOfJimberlysMassiveTitties · 08/05/2024 12:16

Hi Op do the chickens belong to Jesus? How many chickens?

NonPlayerCharacter · 08/05/2024 12:17

There's nobody here but us chickens.

Oh fuck yes. Was on some thread the other day, the first comment misread the damn OP, and then EVERYONE followed that comment for a while. OP had to finally “clarify” what, in fact, had been perfectly fucking clear in the OP. I don’t think you ever have to read 20 pages of comments; you just need to read OP’s posts.

(OP: “I go to the gym. My DP takes my DS to football at 9am. My DD can either come to the gym with me or stay alone for 10-15 minutes after DP leaves from 9:10 to 9:15am until I get home from the gym.” One of the first comments: “Why does she have to go to football?!?” Cue fifty people feeling sorry the poor girl is dragged to football and isn’t she anllowed any hobbies of her own and… Fucking hell.)

That was a particularly painful thread

themoaningwitch · 08/05/2024 12:21

Sorry but I thought Jesus died? Who is looking after his chickens?!?!

froggirl · 08/05/2024 12:22

Haven't RTFT but I think you are BU.

TheLeadbetterLife · 08/05/2024 12:22

This used to annoy me too, OP, but there's no point rehearsing the argument again. People's reading comprehension won't improve and they won't stop doing it.

When I see a long thread now, I read the OP's posts and the first page of replies. If it's still interesting after that I might continue reading the OP's posts. There's absolutely no need to read anything other than the first page of replies, because the rest will just repeat them.

If you've got the time or inclination to read a long thread before answering, go for it.

Personally I can't be arsed!

Then what's the point in you answering?

if you can't be arsed to read the thread or at least OPs points, why bother?

wellthatwasanicesurprise · 08/05/2024 12:23

Came for the comments, was not disappointed!

Snugglemonkey · 08/05/2024 12:23

Yabu. You are not considering those using the app. I cannot be arsed reading the full thread sometimes. On the app, you cannot see all the op's posts. So you can only go through looking, or just post. Of course people end up replying after more info has been given.

indeed it was!

5YearsLeft · 08/05/2024 12:26

@SpanThatWorld Wasn’t it? It was difficult to stand reading and I wasn’t even the OP.

I use the app. You can have the OPs posts in a different colour so can quickly scroll to see just their posts. You can also flip to the end and read at least the last few posts, which generally give you an idea of whether things have moved on/more information has been given.
I would generally say though, that if its a long thread, chances are you won't be adding anything new to the conversation, so if you don't have time to read all the comments to check, probably best to just leave it and move to a different thread.

That thread was wild for it. I gave up pretty quickly! Poor op!

I will comment exactly how I choose thanks. That is how a forum works.

Then, as suggested in the OP, just read the OP's posts.
If you can't filter, can you colour them so they're easy to find?

Now it makes sense why Mumsnetters can feed a family of 12 for a week on one chicken 🐓

They’re Jesus’ chickens aren’t they?

And then people will find your contributions pointless, annoying and contributing to making the forum a bit crap and complain about it/you.

That's how a forum works 😉

It can be funny though when people completely miss the point or have something they want to say irrespective of the topic or relevance.

thistimelastweek · 08/05/2024 12:44

Jesus had chickens!
At last the Easter egg thing makes sense.

Hereyoume · 08/05/2024 12:46

Absolutely 💯.

I think that if you can't read the post you have no idea what's going on.

OP, yes, there's no future in that relationship, you should get your stuff sorted and leave as soon as possible.
