Imagine having a 1 star review you left online go viral

Has anyone else seen this ? 🤣 family leave bad review about a waitress because their child was crying so much she suggested they move onto the heated patio, instead they left and then emailed in the review and also left it on google it looks like.

The waitress has had it printed onto a t shirt and it's gone insanely viral.

She said she had an ocular migraine and it wasn't her best day at work, but other customers were looking at her to do something about the crying toddler so she suggested they move outside (in November ) and they left.

I'd be so embarrassed I left such a review and now the entire internet has seen it printed on a shirt.

Did I use the word server? I've re read my post so many times on the back of this comment but I can't see it! I think good for her personally

I can see both sides.

I'm sure the customer didn't want their child to be annoying other customers but it sounds like the waitress could have handled it a little better.

Not sure why having the review printed on a T shirt is 'fucking funny' or how it's getting payback?

Odd thing to do.

Willmafrockfit · 06/05/2024 06:18

no the newspaper article used the word server

BakedTattie · 06/05/2024 06:22

I actually agree with point made in the review.

Dunno why she felt the need to have a t shirt made.

What point?

BabyRaindeer · 06/05/2024 08:22

But the folk who left the review have not been identified so hardly embarrassing for them? No?

NotJohnMajor · 06/05/2024 08:27

I was expecting this to be a hilariously ridiculous review - like, blaming the restaurant for the weather or something. "Didn't bother to hide her discomfort" - hardly rant of the decade.

HotChocolateNotCocoa · 06/05/2024 08:28

No, I wouldn’t be “sooooo embarrassed”. It’s not like they’ve said something awful in the review and now they've been identified. Surely they left the review because it’s what they thought and they wanted people to see it?

Saschka · 06/05/2024 08:29

I’m with the parents here. I wouldn’t be impressed to be told to sit outside in November either.

MsCheeryble · 06/05/2024 08:29

Not sure I'd be boasting about suggesting customers with a baby eat outside in November.

BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 06/05/2024 08:31

The couple leaving the review are obviously twats. I never stayed inside for more than a minute of one of mine kicked off.
But the viral bit is a bit of a non story as noone knows who they are.

Sillyjane · 06/05/2024 08:32

Can’t see what’s embarrassing about this. Seems a valid review, and they aren’t identifiable. Are you the waitress, or know her? The family are justified in their feelings.

ZenNudist · 06/05/2024 08:36

It's not like the amazon review of sugar free gummi bears or the veg hair remover review "warning do not use on cocktail and balls"! Now that was funny.

This isn't funny and makes the waitress not the customer look bad for printing it. I think she should have asked the crying baby people to leave as sitting outside in November is not feasible in the UK.

Testina · 06/05/2024 08:36

It would only be funny if the review was wrong. It wasn’t - the waitress said so herself. Rude waitress does another rude thing.

moonlitmaze · 06/05/2024 08:37

If the waitress felt ill with a bad migraine, she should have gone home. She sounds like a bit of an attention seeker to me and her T. Shirt makes her look like a twat.

I was eating in a restaurant yesterday where a teenage boy was remonstrating with his parents as they had taken his phone off him. 20 min he went on, they just ignored him whilst quietly finishing off their food.

When they were done, they paid the bill and left, with the still angry teenage (phoneless) in tow. They also paid for the tables around them to have a drink prior to leaving.

Would be nice if people picked up their toddlers and walk outside with them so other can get some peace - the constant noise is very grating. I still can’t understand why people think taking young kids to a cafe, without thinking about what they can do there.

StressyMessyJess · 06/05/2024 08:38

If she had a migraine she should have been sent home.
If she wore the tshirt to work she should have been sent home.
Says more about the running of the cafe than the customers.

Roundandroundthegard3n · 06/05/2024 08:42

I can't imagine being proud of this review if i was named in it. Telling a family to sit outside in November because i had a migraine?

If she was too ill to cope with noise, she should have called in sick. Presume there were lots of other things causing noise as well as the child. But she looks very pleased with herself and she's got plenty of attention from it so i guess she's got what she wanted.

People always seem to be oddly proud of being intolerant of children. I don't like other people's children, so i don't work in restaurants where i will encounter them frequently.

Sillyjane · 06/05/2024 08:45

I agree, this just makes the waitress look like a twat. I’d fire for this.

im assuming she’s young and clueless.

mermaidblueeyes · 06/05/2024 08:45

A bit odd to print it out on a t shirt - and that would make me wonder if the waitress is empathetic at all? And implies she was rude and didn’t handle the situation well at all.

and the reviewer was right to complain.

An ocular migraine would affect her balance, cause light sensitivity and affect her actual eyesight so since she was working - I doubt she actually had one.

So all in all - not a good look for the waitress. She seems to love a bit of pisstakey drama and then a sob story to get out of it.

ItsAStateOfMind · 06/05/2024 08:45

Good on her. I’ve worked in retail and some customers are just massive arseholes. I think people who treat service staff like this are just thick. I’d never talk down to restaurant or retail staff because I know what they do in revenge. I’ve seen it, and I’ve done it myself. I’ve been told to fuck off because I was busy and didn’t immediately serve someone, been threatened I’d lose my job then what am I going to do ( nothing because this is my social hit, I don’t need the money, so jokes on you!) and more. Some people are horrible.

The parents should’ve quietened the baby. When mine cried I took them outside till they calmed down. I don’t want to listen to a screaming baby when I’m out eating as a treat.

It’s the fault of the parent.

A stroppy teenager isn't the same as a baby.

And people take their kids to cafes because they're allowed to exist in public even though their presence may slightly inconvenience or irritate other people. How will they learn how to behave in a cafe if they never go to a cafe?

Society is getting too intolerant and it's worth remembering children are allowed to go to places even if they then act as children often do.

Tara336 · 06/05/2024 08:46

Unfortunately bad reviews are sometimes left because the people leaving them are not brave enough to have a polite chat with the business in question and because maybe they are just a little bit in the wrong themselves (parents should have taken the child outside to calm it down). It is hard when people get personal and start naming individuals in a review when they are applying a policy they didn't decide on or are just having a bad day as this waitress was (they are human too). I hate this horrible bullying of businesses and staff that seems to have become a bit a trend over the last few years.
