Has anyone else seen this ? 🤣 family leave bad review about a waitress because their child was crying so much she suggested they move onto the heated patio, instead they left and then emailed in the review and also left it on google it looks like.

The waitress has had it printed onto a t shirt and it's gone insanely viral.

She said she had an ocular migraine and it wasn't her best day at work, but other customers were looking at her to do something about the crying toddler so she suggested they move outside (in November ) and they left.

I'd be so embarrassed I left such a review and now the entire internet has seen it printed on a shirt.

It's not a particularly funny review is it?

Without knowing how much the baby was crying or what restaurant it was it's difficult to know what was appropriate but she admits she openly made the family feel uncomfortable

needsomewarmsunshine · 06/05/2024 08:48

A lot of parents don't know how to parent because they've never been parented properly themselves.

ItsSerious · 06/05/2024 08:49

I'd give her a massive tip for trying to get rid of them 😅 Nobody wants to listen to your baby screaming, especially in a restaurant.

Absolutely. Nothing worse than people thinking we should all tolerate their little darling, who’s ruining an experience we’ve paid hard earned cash for 😡

ItsAStateOfMind · 06/05/2024 08:45

Good on her. I’ve worked in retail and some customers are just massive arseholes. I think people who treat service staff like this are just thick. I’d never talk down to restaurant or retail staff because I know what they do in revenge. I’ve seen it, and I’ve done it myself. I’ve been told to fuck off because I was busy and didn’t immediately serve someone, been threatened I’d lose my job then what am I going to do ( nothing because this is my social hit, I don’t need the money, so jokes on you!) and more. Some people are horrible.

The parents should’ve quietened the baby. When mine cried I took them outside till they calmed down. I don’t want to listen to a screaming baby when I’m out eating as a treat.

It’s the fault of the parent.

Edited

Why good on her? She says she was openly uncomfortable and handled it wrong. It sounds like she was talking with the manager about the table within their earshot.

Waiting staff make mistakes, and shouldn't be vilified for life but leaving a bad review because wait staff handled a situation wrong is perfectly fine.

MrsMonroe · 06/05/2024 08:53

Sounds like the waitress could have handled it better tbh

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/05/2024 08:55

I think it is a perfectly reasonable review and the only one who looks like an idiot here is the waitress, assuming any of it is real (which it might be because if someone were making it up they would surely write a funnier complaint).

Honestly if you have an ocular migraine and you work serving customers in a busy cafe, go home. You will not be able to do that job to an acceptable level.

Luxell934 · 06/05/2024 08:55

I don’t think it’s funny/ironic though to be put on a tshirt. I actually think the waitress was rude to ask them to sit outside because their baby was crying. If I was her boss I wouldn’t be impressed either.

A stroppy teenager isn't the same as a baby.

And people take their kids to cafes because they're allowed to exist in public even though their presence may slightly inconvenience or irritate other people. How will they learn how to behave in a cafe if they never go to a cafe?

Society is getting too intolerant and it's worth remembering children are allowed to go to places even if they then act as children often do.

Anyone is allowed to go anywhere (assuming it’s legal), but a some point people need to take responsibility for their DC and remove them. Common courtesy, thinking of others surely? Or do basic manners and thinking of other no longer exist?

Saschka · 06/05/2024 08:29

I’m with the parents here. I wouldn’t be impressed to be told to sit outside in November either.

This. I actually think the waitress is at fault here and that she is ridiculous and embarrassing herself by getting the t shirt printed. Babies cry not too much you can do about it, if you go to a family friendly restaurant families will be present!! If she felt unwell she should've gone home.

If the waitress felt ill with a bad migraine, she should have gone home. She sounds like a bit of an attention seeker to me and her T. Shirt makes her look like a twat.

It would only be funny if the review was wrong. It wasn’t - the waitress said so herself. Rude waitress does another rude thing.

Agree with this

This.

The review isn't funny, and putting it on a t shirt is bizarre and attention seeking.

It's amazing what shite goes 'viral' these days.

Sillyjane · 06/05/2024 08:59

I’ve seen lots of funny bad reviews. This isn’t one of them.

the point some posters are making isn’t should the parents have left on a cold nov day, or do they even know how much the child was crying, what they wer3 doing to stop this, the issue is the waitress openly admits to making them uncomfortable and asking a family to sit outside in nov to eat. She then says she’s a migraine to justify it, and prints a t shirt likes it’s all funny,

LimeandCourgette · 06/05/2024 08:59

I'd like to think the baby must have been crying a lot for them to be asked to move outside. I also think it's a dumb move to specifically name someone in an online complaint. It's one thing to name someone when complaining in person but it's another to leave it on the internet forever.

It also doesn't sound as though the waitress dealt with it as sympathetically as she could have done. I'm sure the parents didn't want their child crying, but if my children started crying when we were out, one of us would take them outside until they were settled. Having sat through a child aged approximately five deliberately screaming for fun at lunch yesterday, I wish more parents would properly parent their children.

QueSyrahSyrah · 06/05/2024 08:59

I typed her name into Instagram. An attention seeker of the highest order, this is just another desperate grasp for attention. Yawn.

Beatrixslobber · 06/05/2024 09:00

Whether the waitress was right to ask them to move or not (not enough information- was the child crying for long, were the parents ignoring the crying etc) she looked like a dick by printing it on a T-shirt. If it was a funny review I might get it but unless I’m misunderstanding it’s not really funny?

Andfinallyhereyouare · 06/05/2024 09:07

Confused by this. The waitress said she didn't handle the situation well and presumably as a result, the family felt annoyed and so they left.

Wearing the review on a T-shirt doesn't really make you look clever! I'm surprised the restaurant manager was ok with her wearing it to work.

Same!! I’m embarrassed for her

Goldbar · 06/05/2024 09:12

The reviewer makes a fair point. Sounds like families with children would be better giving this place a wide berth. Children do cry or make a fuss sometimes and while parents should control them and remove them if they're disturbing fellow customers, it's unreasonable to expect them always to behave like mini-adults. Cafes/restaurants who want custom from families should behave in a welcoming way towards babies and children.

Of course it's perfectly acceptable to have places where children aren't welcome but it's helpful if the management can be explicit about this. Personally I think more places should have specific "No children" policies so it's clearer for families with children where they are and are not welcome.

Probablygreen · 06/05/2024 09:15

She’s 24 and has been doing this job for 12 years… OK then. The review isn’t funny, or even particularly bad, it’s a non review. I don’t get this at all.
Back to the point of the OP, why would the reviewer be embarrassed? It’s a factual review, and they were perfectly entitled to leave it, whether you agree with them or not. I’d be embarrassed to be the waitress, advertising the fact that I’m not very good at my job… 🤷‍♀️

TTPD · 06/05/2024 09:15

I don't understand putting it on a t shirt. You can argue the toss on the actual situation but it's not such an unreasonable review to warrant making any kind of point over.

For example, if someone wrote a review that said something like "we will never go back to this restaurant because waitress X was so ugly and it ruined our enjoyment" and the waitress put it on a t shirt I would think good for her. I mean, I still wouldn't wear it to work but I think the attitude would be the right response if that makes sense.

In this instance I just don't really get it.

MargaretThursday · 06/05/2024 09:21

No one so far has commented they have seen this before. I haven't either.
I suspect OP is trying to get it to go further because she doesn't think it's gone as far as she hoped.

Not particularly funny or interesting. Waitress looks like she's after attention and this is the best she can do. The migraine is just an excuse to try and make herself look better.

MILhere · 06/05/2024 09:22

She printed an unfunny t-shirt just to take a photo for social media. She should be embarrassed, not a cuz to mer reviewing their experience with her.

littlecurtainsdoorway · 06/05/2024 09:57

She's selling the T-shirts for £14.99. 🙄
