Teacher bought an ex students only fans?

ShyPearlMoose · 02/05/2024 23:59

My friend has an x rated members website and has just told me that our old science teacher from secondary school has bought it! The same teacher that there were always dodgy rumours about him being a creep.

Is this worth mentioning to the school or is that over dramatic? It's really weird but she's 22 now and hasn't been at the school for 4 years.
Thoughts?

Absolutely. Why is he looking up ex students.

Who says he even knows it’s an ex pupil.?

the only offence here is eye GDPR breach.

WhatIfHesWrittenMine · 03/05/2024 05:39

OP, lots of people have answered who don't understand teachers' safeguarding responsibilities, please do not listen to anyone saying 'it's not illegal' - maybe not, but it is a breach of professional standards and so unacceptable anyway. In all the teaching posts I have held, it's been a school policy that teachers do not have any social media contact with students for a minimum of five years after the students leave the school. That's normal social media - OnlyFans is a whole other level.

The school absolutely need to know about this; it is serious, it is creepy and your gut instincts are not wrong. He has sought out a former pupil for sexual gratification. It's not acceptable and if the school has robust safeguarding policies they absolutely will act.

BCBird · 03/05/2024 05:43

Whilst it's grim he legally hasn't done anything wrong. If your friend is taking the fee I presume that's sweetening the shock.

WhatIfHesWrittenMine · 03/05/2024 05:56

He has done something wrong, very wrong. Teachers have safeguarding responsibilities and one of them is not to seek out ex-pupils online. It's a really important one in the age of social media - imagine the opportunity for predators otherwise to have access to their former students immediately after they leave. Imagine your sixteen year old being followed online (obviously not on OnlyFans!) by a male teacher as soon as her GCSEs are finished - just a 'friendly chat', all the tricks groomers use to manipulate and it leads to exploitation. There have to be policies in place to prevent this. There is a power imbalance and there is a duty of care. This man isn't even disguising his sexual intent. Only four years have elapsed. He needs to be reported - he is in breach of teaching standards and safeguarding responsibilities.

She's selling, he's buying. No-one is glowing here, but no laws broken - shame him means to shame her.
Icky all round.

This.

Gross of both of them

C1N1C · 03/05/2024 06:02

So your friend set up an OF to make money from creepy guys looking at her, and now she's creeped out that creepy guys are looking at her?

Teachers are not allowed to seek out former pupils online. The problem is with him, not her.

CountFucula · 03/05/2024 06:08

PPs are right. Don’t get swayed by either judgement of your friend or comments that it’s not illegal. It’s against the teacher standards and a safeguarding concern. The safeguards are there for a reason - I would 100% report to the school.

WhatIfHesWrittenMine · 03/05/2024 06:11

Thank goodness @CountFucula - I was starting to get really concerned that so many people don't seem to understand what's wrong with this!

tttigress · 03/05/2024 06:18

I wouldn't.

Also, how do you really know he signed up for her only fans. Maybe she just told you that as a bit of a "joke".

allgroyellow · 03/05/2024 06:20

Teacher code of conduct normally states a two year margin, so he is double the time he is required to wait before having contact outside of school

Concerningquestion28 · 03/05/2024 06:20

I wouldn't have thought he'd even know he taught her. One subject, probably a year group of 200ish. 4 years ago. Who can remember that many kids?

She's an adult selling porn. He's an adult buying porn. I don't see the issue. If it makes her uncomfortable she can block him surely?

Strictly1 · 03/05/2024 06:21

I think the key piece of information is, is she using her real name? If not, he may not have a clue who she is other than an attractive young female.

dottiedodah · 03/05/2024 06:24

It's sordid either way. As a PP said though, would he recognise her? He would have seen her maybe 4 years ago and she would look a bit different now. Also he's not a very good teacher if she ended up o Only Fans!

cryinglaughing · 03/05/2024 06:24

If she is on onlyfans, surely she is opening herself up (literally 🤣) for any old perve to peruse her content.
Is she really in a position to take the moral high ground because a teacher is one of her viewers?

Benjaminsniddlegrass · 03/05/2024 06:25

Agree with a PP - this should be reported, it needs to be considered as a potential LADO issue and school would also consider from a professional conduct perspective. Please ignore those suggesting it's a breach of GDPR - in this context that is just not true.

WhatIfHesWrittenMine · 03/05/2024 06:25

allgroyellow · 03/05/2024 06:20

Five years in the schools I've worked in. I thought that was standard. Two years doesn't sound like enough.

MFF2010 · 03/05/2024 06:27

Report him to whom and for what 🤷‍♀️

waterrat · 03/05/2024 06:29

Please report it - teachers do have professional guidelines advising against inappropriate content with EX pupils.

renomeno · 03/05/2024 06:34

Do we know he's 'looked her up'?? Is she really using her real name? If she had she's created a whole heap of trouble for her future... Men look at and buy porn, just because he's a teacher it's an issue?

shoppingshamed · 03/05/2024 06:36

So I know nothing about how only fans works and have questions

Does she go under her real name, how do customers find which members to follow/subscribe to and do the members get full details of the customers to identify them? Is it two way, has she seen him or is his name unique enough to know for sure it's him?

WhatIfHesWrittenMine · 03/05/2024 06:38

MFF2010 · 03/05/2024 06:27

Report him to whom and for what 🤷‍♀️

To the school, for breaching professional standards and safeguarding policy.

renomeno · 03/05/2024 06:40

Yes, as @shoppingshamed just said, I have no idea how OF works but I can't imagine all the users have 'profile pics' or that he's using his work email address!

renthead · 03/05/2024 06:41

The teacher is disgusting, but how do you know he even remembers her, or looked her up? Teachers have hundreds of students. It could be a complete coincidence.

I think this 'concern' is a bit rich coming from your friend. If she is really that concerned about safeguarding, perhaps she should think twice about this vile line of work / side hustle.

renomeno · 03/05/2024 06:43

@WhatIfHesWrittenMine would it be a case for reporting if he'd walked into a strip club and saw her on stage stripping?
