To be annoyed delivery guy peed in my garden!

Just seen a delivery guy peeing in my front garden (caught on ring doorbell) wasn't even my delivery and he was delivering food 🤢 clearly sees the doorbell but doesn't care! Someone said well there is a lack of toilets but surely that's not an excuse?!

OP posts:
VolvoFan · 01/05/2024 18:01

Gross, but what do you expect them to do? Hold it in? I imagine you'd have been catatonic if they had IBS and squitted themselves.

Totemoneru · 01/05/2024 18:05

100% not unreasonable!!
There is no excuse for this. If there's no time then there are products you can get. Caught off guard? A park or field where dogs go is more appropriate than private property. He's overworked? He has a legal right to a break from his employer, he should bring it up with them.
And let's not forget the blatant hygiene issue seeing as he's delivering food!
This is absolutely not ok.

Seriously?? You'd be OK with someone shitting in your front garden? Get a grip! Of course you wouldn't 🙄
All those people with IBS around the world just can't help themselves and go around shitting in people's gardens, do they??? Of course not! They manage their condition and act appropriately (I.e. finding a toilet).

commonsense12 · 01/05/2024 18:09

Unless he was taking a shit, I would let it slide its not worth getting angry about.

For those that asked I live in London there are many places local supermarkets, cafes, McDonald's, there's even a wooded area he could have used... what choice did he have to piss in my garden because I didn't let him use my toilet what on earth! I was even in and he wasn't my delivery driver, he should have asked the person he delivered to!

For all the ones saying he had no option. Stop. There is always another option and Op has clearly listed what these are.

I’ve had IBS and have really heavy periods and I do agree there is a lack of clean public toilets in this country , but still - I’ve managed not to use peoples garden as a toilet.

He was completely wrong.

lucindasspunkyfunkyvoice · 01/05/2024 18:16

One thing’s for sure….a female driver wouldn’t have done it

women have no choice but to find a loo. So why are men able to piss freely wherever they please?

Nope, I didn't say that at all. What you've done, though, is infer and put words in my mouth. I wouldn't be okay with it. Delivery driving is a highly stressful job, especially in a just-in-time economy that we now have, with allotted delivery times, which don't allow overheads for problems with the delivery, ie someone isn't home and they can't leave the parcel anywhere.

A customer complains, the driver is told off, morale slips, eventually they quit and the company has to hire someone to replace them. Delivery drivers are penalised if they're late. Some of them have been sacked for taking the works van home to have some lunch when their house has been on a route they had that day. Delivery driving used to be fun and worthwhile. Not anymore.

I suspect once OP has lodged the complaint, he'll be let go. Oh well.

lucindasspunkyfunkyvoice · 01/05/2024 18:17

Exactly: only blokes do this

tommyhoundmum · 01/05/2024 18:18

We tend to find bottles of urine at the side of the gutter

Firkinhavinalaugh · 01/05/2024 18:24

Haven’t rft but for some people it’s ok for a delivery man to piss in your garden but GOD FORBID it’s a cat.

so YANBU / it’s really unpleasant, I’d send a request for the fine for public urination to be sent to you in compensation 🤣

Wars on all over and we worry about this crazy.

JT12 · 01/05/2024 18:34

It’s disgusting- I would be furious. If the sun is out the smell of urine would make me sick. I am not sure if I would report him specifically as I wouldn’t want to rile anyone and he knows where you live, but I would be upset and maybe complain to the company as a general complaint

It's like the people you see weeing next to the motorway. I always take a photo and report to the police as they could really just hold it in until the services instead.

I remember being stuck in traffic on the M5 and seeing a woman crouching between the front and back door with her head protruding above and a puddle forming around her. Grim. 🤢 She didn't look happy at my partner taking her photo (I was driving) but maybe it'll make her think next time.

Well aside from the fact you're unpleasant and warped, and married to a freak - peeing at the side of a motorway being you're stuck in traffic isn't the same as peeing in a person's front garden when there's facilties close by.

Also your story is bizarre. This woman was apparently "crouching between the front and back door with her head protruding above". How is she crouching between the car doors with her head showing above the car doors? Was she exceptional tall or the car very short?

Lol. AIBU is 99.9% trivial. Because most people aren’t spending all of their time just thinking about all the wars going on in the world. Do you write this inane response on all threads on here?!

Mygosh · 01/05/2024 19:01

I've never understood why delivery drivers do this.

I worked as a plumber (female) for 20 years and can honestly only think of one time where I was stuck in a traffic jam and had to pee in the bushes (I wasn't the only one, could hear people roaring with laughter as a queue built up 😂).

Why don't these people just ask their customers if they can use their toilet? I was never refused use of a toilet in 20 years, although some were pretty gross. And no, being a plumber doesn't always involve working in bathrooms lol. Even when working on site, I used to chat the neighbours up and pop round for tea and wee, because I hated the porta loo things.

SharpAzurePanda · 01/05/2024 19:23

It’s possible he asked and the customer declined. A plumber is different from a delivery driver in that you’ll mostly be inside the customers house I assume so a lot easier to ask to use a toilet when you’re inside and spending some time in their home anyway? Delivery drivers typically don’t come inside and only have a very brief encounter with their customers, so someone is more likely to decline - especially if it’s a male driver as it will just be seen as a complete stranger entering your home as opposed to a tradie you have made contact with and personally hired for the job.

Not justifying this man’s disgusting actions btw just saying generally it’s probably not as easy for them to gain access to customer toilets. But they still do have other options so there’s no excuse.

I don’t know about others but as a single female, living on my own I’m not letting a delivery driver into my home to use the toilet. Thankfully there is a well kept and clean communal toilet in my current block of flats anyway so if anyone did ask i Could easily direct them to that. I expect the evri and Amazon drivers use them a lot.

That’s true. I drive a lot as part of my job and we are tracked all the time. My male boss is very much if you gotta go, leave your route find a loo, no issues at all. The blokes do not get that chat, they very much piss by the roadside. I actually pulled up behind a colleague today and he was peeing on the van. Pretty sure he was mortified, I did point out that cameras were on and recording so it’s not me he should be worrying about

JustABitOfUncertainty · 30/04/2024 12:31

Disgusting but I do wonder, where do delivery people 'go'???

They go in the restaurant they picked up from ?? Or get a he wee, surely pissing in front of a door cam is well down on the option list..

Tina7391 · 01/05/2024 20:21

For goodness sake. It's an actual offence to pee in a public place. No excuse. He collects the food so could use the toilet while he's doing his collection. I'm sure there's a supermarket or public house nearby that he could have popped in to. It's disgusting. I'd definitely be reporting him!

StressedOutButProudMama · 01/05/2024 20:35

Our delivery drivers have no concerns asking their customers if they can use their toilet. So no he had no excuse we are quite out in the sticks and when they are here I've had a few ask. I always allow them so he could have asked any customer. Yes one or two may say no especially if they're alone and vulnerable but there's bound to be one that ok's it. Barring that go down an alleyway or on some issues land away from people's homes. I'd contact his employer or post it online and show him for what he is.

Calliopespa · 01/05/2024 20:38

MissMillyFluff · 30/04/2024 12:41

No but he'll have held his nob without washing his hands afterwards, then he'll be holding someone else's food in the next delivery 😨

This must also happen all the time with supermarket shelf stackers etc. I just don’t believe they all wash their hands after flopping it out .

Galatine · 01/05/2024 20:39

LadyVioletCrawley · 30/04/2024 12:31

That’s nice of you but I’m honestly not sure I would. I can just imagine the newspaper article when it all goes wrong … take care Proud mama. It does leave you quite vulnerable letting them in.
