To be annoyed delivery guy peed in my garden!

Just seen a delivery guy peeing in my front garden (caught on ring doorbell) wasn't even my delivery and he was delivering food 🤢 clearly sees the doorbell but doesn't care! Someone said well there is a lack of toilets but surely that's not an excuse?!

You expect human beings to pees in bottles?

Well aren't you a treat

You expect human beings to be happy with men peeing in their garden. That's weirder, to me.

I'm an adult man and you don't need to fit the whole willy in...just be able to direct it into the bottle. I was a gardener and often had to wee in a bottle in the back of my van as often my customers were out or I was too muddy to risk trying to go in the house. I actually carried a fabric conditioner bottle as they have wide necks.

You can also buy (very cheaply IIRC) a custom made thing with male & female attachments, to pee in. I bought one years ago & put it in DH's car as he had a long commute on accident-prone roads. Thankfully, he's never needed it.

GerminateMyParsnips · 30/04/2024 15:44

I've been caught short on long drives before - services etc not for miles.

There are so many options for places to pee before you resort to peeing in someone's front garden.

And if there are not miles of lovely empty country roads with umpteen pee options, then you're in a built up area with services or petrol stations that have toilets.

There is literally no reason for a delivery driver to pee in someone's garden apart from they really don't care.

MarioIa · 30/04/2024 12:59

This is an age old myth, usually about truck drivers. No adult man can fit his penis into the top of a bottle, I remember a drunk ex and his mate trying when we were young and stuck on the motorway in a van.

I always assumed it was parents letting their kids wee in bottles when caught short.

Edited

A man doesn't have poke his dick right into the bottle to piss in it. He just has to position the neck of the bottle against his bell-end so it encircles the hole where the wee comes out. It's fiddly, but completely do-able. I've witnessed men doing it at festivals.

RandomMan2 · 30/04/2024 15:45

I've had to wee in bottles before - as PP said wide ones like a fabric conditioner bottle or a plastic milk bottle not a water bottle. It's not on to go in someone's garden but fine in laybys by the side of the road. Not ideal but you can't always find a toilet. I haven't got a problem going in a bottle though.

PPs were also concerned about delivery people not washing their hands afterwards. I don't want to gross everyone out but most men don't wash their hands after going in a public loo either. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Universalsnail · 30/04/2024 15:48

I think it's grim and he could have gone somewhere more discreet but I wouldn't report it. It's just a wee, it's not the end of the world.

SnackQueen · 30/04/2024 15:50

It's a common sight in some parts of London. Usually down to a mix of desperation if they're not aware of any free toilet facilities on their route and poor hygiene standards and habits. I guess count yourself lucky it was just a pee. Some of the videos and photos shared on social media from enraged East London residents who experience this and worse on a regular basis are pretty gross.

Wow, @MarioIa‘s post is the most petty thing I have ever read on here, and that’s saying something.

May the capricious goddess of menopause wreak merry hell on your bladder function until you learn some empathy.

100% this. What a nasty post that was by @MarioIa

Love the way you're referring to PP's, very apt 😂

You're aware you're talking about a human being here yes?

are you under some impression that a human being should just be able to piss in any circumstances, whenever, wherever, that peeing into a receptacle designed for such use is somehow against their human rights?

You know in hospital they have bed pans and men are routinely asked to pee in specially designed paper mache bottles when they can't get out of bed?

or he could have asked the homeowner? or the neighbour? or gone the cafe, pub, mc Donald's or other public toilet... 🤔

pontipinemum · 30/04/2024 15:57

I am conflicted on this. I have been caught short in random places such as a random country road. But in someone's actual garden is manky. I bet wish you'd prefer if you could unsee it, because then you'd never know.

I think @MarioIa was joking. If not, I'd certainly pee on the motorway between cars if absolutely necessary.

MarioIa · 30/04/2024 15:58

caringcarer · 30/04/2024 14:14

My son is a class 1 lorry driver and he goes before leaving home, stops in motorway service stations if he needs to and goes at destination. There is always somewhere they can go. He'd never see in someone's garden. That is disgusting. I'd complain.

But most Class 1 drivers spend majority of their time on motorways and often only do a single trailer swap or a couple drops. It is a bit different if you've got dozens of packages to deliver in a residential area where there aren't public toilets

MarioIa · 30/04/2024 16:02

I was joking. I think we've all been there.

I do sympathise with delivery drivers. Same with the binmen. They spend hours going up and down residential streets without any toilet access, and in summer must need to drink a lot of water to cope with the heat.

And as a pp showed us, there are any number of solutions for folk to use in that situation that don’t result in someone finding a stranger pissing in their garden.

Nanny0gg · 30/04/2024 16:19

Berga · 30/04/2024 12:45

Is he just supposed to piss himself then?

No. He finds a costa or McDs or garage and goes there.

And doesn't wait till he's bursting.

transformandriseup · 30/04/2024 16:23

I remember being stuck in traffic on the M5 and seeing a woman crouching between the front and back door with her head protruding above and a puddle forming around her. Grim. 🤢 She didn't look happy at my partner taking her photo (I was driving) but maybe it'll make her think next time.

Grim you took a photo. Service stations were almost non-existent where I grew up and it was common to see cars parked in by side of the road for people to pee. We all coped with seeing such horrors.

Nanny0gg · 30/04/2024 16:23

Theoriginalmrscillianmurphy · 30/04/2024 13:31

I couldn't get worked up.

We've all been caught short.

I've never peed in public

ShotgunSally · 30/04/2024 16:23

I worked in the community for over 20 years and I never felt the need to piss in someone's garden, absolutely gross and I would report.

Nanny0gg · 30/04/2024 16:24

Winningatpatriachychicken · 30/04/2024 12:33

If they are lucky they have a tescos or Macdonalds etc on route. But employers don't factor in time to use them.,

They don't factor in the time to pee in someone's garden, either

wheresmyvoice · 30/04/2024 16:27

Most cafes and restaurants don't allow you to use their loo as they are strictly for customers only.
Lots of people suffer continence issues or weakened pelvic floor and when they've got to go they've got to go.
Older people especially have less control over their bladder and people are being expected to work until old age.
Reporting them presumably so you can feel smug for getting them sacked will probably mean they end up at home claiming benefits but at least there's a toilet there.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 30/04/2024 16:28

JustABitOfUncertainty · 30/04/2024 12:31

Disgusting but I do wonder, where do delivery people 'go'???

Saw a fly on the wall documentary about Amazon drivers. Most of them have a bottle in the van and wee in that 🤢

Again, a pp listed a number of items on sale for people to use in situations where they’re caught short - particularly helpful for people who know they’ve got a continence issue like you’ve mentioned above, I’d imagine.

Nobody needs to enter someone’s private property and urinate in their garden.

McDonald's! It's literally right next to where I live!! Less than a mile. I'm sure he could have held it considering he just came from there

HGV drivers regularly piss in bottles (or a container in the cab) and crap in plastic bags. There are frequent posts about it on the Lorry Driver version of MN. They think it is disgusting, they don’t like it, but those who do ‘nights out’ or extended trips often park up in laybyes or on industrial estates at night: no facilities.

And van drivers definitely piss in plastic bottles and chuck it into the kerb. Along with fast food debris. It’s obvious, Oasis bottles that say blackcurrant, full of stuff that looks exactly like piss.

We have a nation addicted to deliveries of fast food, and online shopping, a huge delivery industry which has sprung up with no facilities or infrastructure.

In London there used to be huts for cabbies with toilets and a cheap cafe. Now it’s piss where you can and buy your food in masses of packaging and eat it in the go,

Winningatpatriachychicken · 30/04/2024 12:32

Honestly I wouldn't care. Poor guy was probably bursting. And his employers won't have factored loo breaks into his targets. And he probably makes minimum wage.

Urine won't damage your lawn, don't make someone's life harder but reporting them, it won't make your life any better
