The article is incredibly bias and clearly in support of Isreal. Look at the language used, ‘Isreal-Hamas war’, ‘’The war began on October 7, when Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. Around 1,200 Israeli civilians were killed’. No mention of the current death toll of thousands and thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians, nor how this ‘war’ began long before October 7.

All context has been conveniently left out and there is a clear attempt to create a narrative which will strike fear in the hearts of the western people.

Unfortunately this is yet another ploy to demonise the Muslim population and turn the West against them. This in turn justifies Israel’s actions against Palestine. Not to mention, it completely deters from the real issue at hand - the massacre of thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians.

Extremism is bad, yes. But 1,000 people do not speak for the entire Muslim population. There are many far-right rallies across the West. Do they speak for the majority of western people? No.

As I said in a previous comment, the majority of Muslims are peace-loving people who do not agree with extremist ideologies and would rather just get on with their lives.

Fox News tells lies, and if it's not 100% a lie, then it's twisted and over distorted to fit their narrative.

And the German newpapers that have reported this, are they lying or twisting the truth ?

Goodness me, Rosa Parks! I am not white, or Christian either. And I have a long foreign name. I am British, therefore I do not want religion anywhere. I am a woman therefore I do not want old white or brown or black man who wrote a book thousands of years ago telling me how to dress or talk or behave or abort.

Why on earth would you equate a secular state with the mistreatment of non-whites?

Yes indeed. We in the west have lost many of these Victorian values. Thank goodness.

Islam is not the thing to be afraid of.

History clearly shows that when Islamic caliphates were the norm and shariah law was followed properly then civilisation flourished - including non Muslims who lived under that law. (No I am not advocating for a caliphate or shariah in a non Muslim country just sick of the hatred and fear of Islam).

Yes it has been portrayed poorly in the media and there are plenty of examples of politicians using Islam to do crap things.

But is that any different to what we have in the West? I give you George Bush, Donald trump, Boris Johnson, rishi sunak…pretty much every leader who has worked purely for their own power and glory.

The real thing to be afraid of is power hungry right wing politicians who seek to demonise another race/country/whatever, because they need us all to believe in a bogeyman.

@Chocchip09

"The ‘hate’ you talk about is not against the entire Jewish population across the world, but is fight against Zionism, a nationalist regime which has killed thousands of innocent civilians in Palestine. "

Given that there is no agreed upon definition of Zionism and to absolutely distinguish it from anti semitism please could you explain what you believe the term "Zionism" means ?

What do you mean ‘no agreed definition’? Of course there is an agreed definition. You can simply Google it and there are even Jewish websites which define it as a nationalist movement aimed at creating a Jewish state.

But at what cost? At the cost of thousands of innocent Palestinian lives. And the Zionist movement has absolutely proved that they’re willing to wipe out an entire population to create their state.

The U.K. isn’t a Muslim country though

Well if the laws here don't suit move somewhere that they do suit you.

I might not agree with ShamimaTH’s posts at all but I’m not sure why they warranted deletion, particularly when she is objecting to racist comments directed at her.

Maybe the thread should just be pulled…

Parkingt111 · 29/04/2024 20:31

Seems like that poster was actually a troll. If someone told my DH how nice it must be to have a 'obedient' wife because we are Muslim, he would probably laugh in their face. It's more about having mutual respect and understanding for each other

100% agree. That really didn’t sit right with me. I think this thread should be deleted. There are clearly polarised views here and it’s getting nasty.

It says they were a banned poster so might not even be genuine

Unless HQ is confident that Shamima is just a troll, I suppose.

Why is right leaning politics so bad, but Islamic extremism is something not to be feared?

Can you explain your "hatred and fear" for the right please?

And why you think far right extremism is worse than Islamic extremism, rather than being able to criticise both?

some of the deletion messages say "previously banned poster" so ask yourself: was that stirring up for screenshots? we know it happens to MN now and again.

As for living a nice happy life under sharia law? Are you bonkers? it is hard enough to get a man convicted for rape without knowing a woman's word is not worth as much as a man's, must obey husband, must cover up etc etc. No. Thank. You.

I didn’t equate secularism with mis treatment of minorities. Nor have I suggested anywhere that I want a non secular state.

I was responding to PP who suggested she didn’t want society and laws to evolve to reflect the people who make up the country.
