Next door neighbour has invited me a round for a glass of wine. DS will be in bed next door I have camera on his room so I can see him.

Would you go or not? Or does it feel to much like a Madeline McCann situation.

DS is 2

Yes I am really asking it! Feels safe enough he sleeps all the way through.

We’re right next door (new builds)

Never in a million years.
Ask your neighbour to come to yours (unless they also have a sleeping baby with none else left at home).

MaltedMilk88 · 27/04/2024 19:04

Not in a month of Sundays, might consider if I lived in a small semi/terraced if they were older (with camera view) but absolutely no way at 2. Ask neighbour to come to you

To pop round to pick something up and be back within a few minutes - yes. No different to putting bins out.

To actually go next door for a glass of wine and potentially lose track of time and not check the camera - no.

Yes I'd say this too. I'd run next door to pick up a parcel or whatever, I'd never, ever leave them while I went next door for the evening.
Anything could happen.

Danielle9891 · 27/04/2024 19:04

I wouldn't even though my daughter is 2.5 and she's only woke during the night about 3/4 times since she was a newborn. I have sat in the garden though with the baby camera on my phone.

You won’t hear them choke on a camera. You won’t see a fire until it is too late for damage from smoke inhalation. Any parent suggesting they would needs to have a hard look at their crap parenting.

I can’t see how you’d be any more aware of them choking watching a camera in your own house vs watching a camera next door?

The fire thing yes but… statistically very unlikely.

Oh that’s ok then. Fucking hell.

Bloodyfreezinng · 27/04/2024 19:05

I hate having people at my house. I’m going to leave it anyway!

Attached neighbour with a monitor that works? Yes. Any further or without a monitor? No chance.

At that age, mine was a pretty deep sleeper and my friend lived over the road. I’d wait until he was asleep, then carry him over and put him in bed there. Would that work?

medianewbie · 27/04/2024 19:06

No. Neighbour comes to yours.
Or you take 2yr old & settle on sofa.
Not worth risks. You won't enjoy it also.

fieldsofbutterflies · 27/04/2024 19:06

I can't believe this is a serious question Hmm

SpinningTops · 27/04/2024 19:08

I would as long as an easy path home which would take less than 30 seconds from their house to your hall.

I can't see it's much different to having a drink out in your own garden in the summer with the monitor which we would do all the time!

Msmumm · 27/04/2024 19:08

Good god no!! I cannot believe there are people who WOULD leave them alone in a house.
You can't see smoke and fumes from a fire on a monitor!

IMO you need to be rational about risk.

If I can see my baby on the monitor in my perfectly secure house, which has numerous fire alarms, where I know there aren’t any clear fire hazards, they are fast asleep in their bed…

… sitting in my neighbours house a couple of metres away (in the same building) doesn’t seem like a big risk.

I appreciate others might not want to do that, but I don’t really see it as being dangerous. I think she’s suggest going round for a couple of drinks, not on a bender.

I wouldn’t consider myself to be much of a risk taker either tbh.

pimplebum · 27/04/2024 19:10

What if something went wrong with the locks? , my key broke off in the lock recently

Pickled21 · 27/04/2024 19:11

No. Dd2 is 2 and I wouldn't leave her home alone for any reason at this age.

I think it’s appalling that any parent would even consider a small risk like that ok. Disgusting doesn’t quite cover it imo.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 27/04/2024 19:12

Yes i would with the camera, in new builds if he woke up.it probably would be nearly just as quick going up to him as it would from your lounge

Supergirl1958 · 27/04/2024 19:13

OP you know the answer since you referred to Madeline McCann!! NOOOOO! And just so I’m clear! No!!

Poppalina37 · 27/04/2024 19:14

@whistleblower99

Exactly that!

bakewellbride · 27/04/2024 19:14

I would not do this for a million pounds (really) and can't believe the amount of people who are ok with it! Leaving a 2 year old home alone to go and drink wine!

lolacherricoke · 27/04/2024 19:14

Hell to the no!

cadburyegg · 27/04/2024 19:15

No. I wouldn't do it even though my children are 9 and 6.

Sunshineclouds11 · 27/04/2024 19:15

Can't believe this is a serious question tbh

RoseGoldEagle · 27/04/2024 19:15

Pretty sure this is the plot of a recent book…
