Clothing in the gym

I have seen this going around - do you agree with him?

I think I do, I really don't understand the current trend of ridiculously small shorts shoved right into arse cracks and bandeau bras for working out.

I go to the gym 2/3 times a week and feel no need to dress like this.

Or, are they just 'dressing for themselves?'

No, I know what you meant by ‘mid drift’, as I said, it’s not a term I often hear women use, even when spelt correctly.

I’m not a man, and I think your preoccupation with women’s bum holes, to the extent of thinking you can see what the person ate for breakfast, is bizarre.

On a topic about sexualised clothing, I don't think using satire to illustrate the point of how overly revealing some clothing has been designed, precisely to be sexualised, is that odd.

I mean, at least I don't go around asking if you have a penis or vagina. Fucking well odd. Can confirm, had these discussions (amongst many other unrelated) in person. Never had a person ask me which I have. Maybe it's normal for you.

I've only ever heard women say midriff. So, your intuition was a bit off in this case. And strange.

Back to the topic at hand. Some women choose to wear this clothing, for exactly the reason it was designed for. I'm suspecting you are the owner of such bumhole showing shorts, in your repeated efforts to prove that they don't indeed show a rectum, and therefore, I must be a man.

Weird, all round.

Exactly. It's coming up to cycling season. My town's on a popular route so, soon, our cafes will be adorned by clusters of wiry men in those shorts. I mean, I notice. You couldn't not! But it'd be extremely rude to stare at their - erm, physiology, and downright creepy of me. So I don't stare.

See for me, and I'm attracted to men, I don't find these (or similar) attractive at all. Just personally.

A poster upthread asked the question if we would be so offended seeing men at scantily clad. Whilst I wouldn't call it offended, I generally don't like seeing it.

Interesting there is varied opinions on it.

Do fully agree, it's not up to someone else to stop you perving at them, though. What an odd conclusion for the man to draw.

No one asked you about your genitalia. Your insistence on repeating this reeks of fetishisation.

They don’t show a rectum.

I suspect you’re getting off on this so I won’t feed it anymore.

I think its best you do leave the discussion, to be honest.
Not understanding (or rather, wilful ignorance of) the purpose of satire which is to illustrate a point, despite it being explained in rather simple terms to you, sort of indicates it's pointless engaging.

You indeed did ask about my genitalia - the moment you asked if I was a man. The gaslighting attempt is feeble.. next you'll be describing how you only wanted to know which chromosomes I had, in actual fact.

Don't think you've answered if you're a man though, funnily enough. Odd you ask questions to posters, that you're not happy to answer yourself. Very telling.

I'm attracted to men, I don't find these (or similar) attractive at all. Just personally. - I don't either, though I am sometimes more curious than I'd allow myself to show 😆

This may not be unconnected to the fact that most men view most women as sex objects for their potential consumption, whereas it's unusual for women to treat male bodies that way.

The guy in the OP clearly does treat female bodies as sexual merchandise, and objects to seeing "the goods in the window" when he's not buying. I don't feel this point of view should be condoned or excused.

I think you make a good point about human curiosity - and the question then where this draws the line to sexualising a person. Also agree men aren't sexualised in the same way.

I do agree with his point in general that some gym wear is just very revealing, but more in the sense in that some of us don't want to see it - in which case we look away. Not stare and blame the person for our staring in a sexual manner when we're commited to someone.

It does show that still, in this day and age, men are putting the responsibility of their ogling, on to women.

On the other side of the coin, some of the more extreme examples of this type of clothing wouldn't be worn by people who don't want to attract attention.

NonPlayerCharacter · 28/04/2024 06:54

Toenailz · 28/04/2024 00:37

Some women are literally merchandising themselves, though. It's precisely the point of it.

& if they want to, then crack on. But we can't pretend this isn't the case, just so what? - women never appear to want to be ogled at? It's just not the reality. Some do. And it's painfully obvious. Its up to them, if they do. But let's not pretend it doesn't exist.

Some women are literally merchandising themselves, though.

No they're sodding not. They're wearing clothes they like wearing. The whole point is that that does not make them public property.

That's literally why these people get so angry about it. If they were dancers in a pop video to decorate some male singer, people wouldn't care. It's precisely because they're choosing to do it, for themselves, on their own terms, without accepting that they're responsible if men behave like pigs in response, that people are so moralistic and enraged about it. Because what you choose to wear doesn't make you bloody merchandise.

There is a big difference between looking which most people can’t help and STARING which is a deliberate action.

So men aren't allowed to find women attractive? And not even look?

Seems weird given that's pretty much entirely why we're all here

Of course men are allowed to find women attractive.

But they're not entitled to expect women to dress in a certain way so that they don't have to control their urges.

I agree.

It's funny how only the posters who are so morally outraged by clothing are seeing arseholes and vulvas and nude genitals so on.
They're so offended and above it, yet they're the ones constantly giving detailed, graphic and entirely made up descriptions of stuff that we all plainly know isn't actually happening. Why is that, I wonder. Instead of dictating to women how they should dress, perhaps this lot could stop subjecting us to their own lurid, detailed fantasies?

ringoffiire · 28/04/2024 08:30

Sapiens · 27/04/2024 07:37

Is this cool?

Have you seen that at your local gym, OP? Or is this a random tiktok/ insta post?

I go to the gym several times a week, have used quite a few different gyms over the past few years, and I've never seen anyone dressed like this.

ForCandles · 28/04/2024 08:41

I wear old leggings, an old t.shirt and a lot of sweat. I doubt any men there would be having any sexual thoughts about me.
Me on the other hand, I often check blokes out in the gym, including their lunchbox and idly wonder what they'd be like in bed, while giving a score out of ten.

To be honest modern cycling shorts are much thicker and have much more padding than they used to so there is really no, erm, ‘definition’ anymore. They turn everyone into Barbie and Ken, like a wetsuit.

No. Most of us know the word is midriff.

ghostyslovesheets · 28/04/2024 13:09

I'm off to the gym now - I will report back - fwiw I am not wearing short but you can see my sports bra - filthy bitch that I am

I will police the women and let you know how many are behaving like harlots - I will see if any men ask for my number

My guess is it will be 0 and 0

ghostyslovesheets · 28/04/2024 14:52

Happy to report I did see one woman in a sports bra doing heavy lifting - sadly she was wearing grey jogging bottoms so no 'ass cheeks' in anyone's faces, everyone else seemed to be wearing dull leggings and sports tops - no one asked for my number - shame - I am a red faced, sweaty 54 year old but my bra was visible - must try harder

Shove your arse crack in people's faces (don't just place it there - shove!) and wear clothing so tight and transparent that you truly might as well be naked because your genitalia are on full display. This appears to be absolutely standard in some posters' gyms, or equivalent to wearing ruched leggings, so maybe it'll help you score next time. At any rate it certainly sounds like fun.

ghostyslovesheets · 28/04/2024 15:18

Yeah I need to invest in some bum hole leggings and start squatting badly ! I mean when I squat my bum does go back but also down at the same time not out - maybe start squatting over the benches where the mens do the weights.

Grammarnut · 28/04/2024 21:47

I would have thought tiny shorts and a bandeau bra would be uncomfortable to work out in. I'd prefer a T-shirt and jogging bottoms, though the T-shirt might be quite fitted. He's having problems that he should sort himself, of course.

Midriff a common word. Not sure why you have never heard it.
"the center of your body's front side, generally the area under your ribcage and above your waist or hips. A substitute for belly or waist, especially when someone is wearing clothes that deliberately expose this area.
