Clothing in the gym

I have seen this going around - do you agree with him?

I think I do, I really don't understand the current trend of ridiculously small shorts shoved right into arse cracks and bandeau bras for working out.

I go to the gym 2/3 times a week and feel no need to dress like this.

Or, are they just 'dressing for themselves?'

Why are you calling me a man?
and rapey Shock

you want me banned because I think the OP’s screenshot represents a serious and common issue ??????
ok

The "serious and common issue" is men being gross.
Not women existing and wearing clothing.

I haven't reported any posts actually, but I wish I had.

Why don’t you ask MNHQ to trawl through my posts. It won’t be clear to you, as I name change quite a bit, but it will be crystal clear to them that I’m a woman.

The worst are gone now. I don’t think mumsnet should give certain people a platform so I’ll keep reporting anything that is misogynistic and victim blaming.

What? Why on earth would I do that?

Posts were deleted because they broke talk guidelines. 😅

I don’t think my posts did. I can’t see them though as they’re deleted.

Because people keep accusing me of being a rapey lechy man! And I’m not.

Klwp · 26/04/2024 21:36

I’m a woman

Klwp · 26/04/2024 21:37

And I’m going to watch some tv with my husband. But you can carry on ignoring my points.

Obviously MN thinks you're speaking like a rapey lechy man. Maybe that's something you should reflect on.

Hopefully something pg, lest he struggles to control his wanton erections.

I’ve been married for 25 years as I’ve said. My husband hasn’t got any problems like that. He just wants to watch tv.

People who condescend to women about men's thoughts on their clothing by telling them they "need an explanation" and worship at the altar of "biology" and "testosterone" - and then claim victimhood for "stating facts" and supposed thoughtcrime when nobody wants to see it - don't come over very Germaine Greer.

WaitUpForMe · 26/04/2024 21:51

And if this man gets an erection whilst watching women on tv who dare to show more than their hands and face, and his 16 year old daughter comes in the room, he’ll happily stand up displaying said etrction for her to see and simply say ‘it’s testosterone and biology, sweetheart’,.... just like he told us that women at the gym should have to be around men in shorts with erections as ‘why should they sit down when they’ve gone there to exercise’ just because they’ve got an erection. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Pickingmyselfup · 26/04/2024 21:54

I can accept that a man might get an errection at the wrong time/wrong place. I know it happens but it's not a woman's fault. The decent thing to do would be to try hide it and make it go away, chalk it up to hormones and say nothing more. It's not OK to blame it on women's clothes because ultimately it's not the clothes, we could all be covered head to toe and still we would get blamed for a mans sexual thoughts because of something. Perhaps the way we bend down, hold eye contact etc.

For me as a woman I'll cover my bum, vagina and the actual boobs (and yes even in short shorts the actual bum is covered) I probably get some cheek showing because my shorts ride up but the only thing I can do to stop that is wear past knee length ones and by that point I may as well wear leggings which defeats the object of keeping cooler..

Pickingmyselfup · 26/04/2024 21:57

Oh and you have to sit down in the gym!

I squat, do rows, deadlifts where my bum sticks out. I sit down for hip abductors, lat pull down, the machine row and when I stretch my back my bum sticks out again. Just like it does if I drop something and pick it up. I could pretend I'm wearing a short skirt all the the time lest someone can't control themselves at the sight of my bum but it's their responsibility not mine.

therealcookiemonster · 26/04/2024 21:57

personally I would prefer both men and women to dress so their private parts aren't visible because frankly it's gross. it's just common decency.

if people want to look at other people's body parts or expose their own, they can do so in private. it is not appropriate in public spaces.

Where have you seen naked people working out?

Yet another person who attends a nude gym! How come only the people who are offended by padded leggings manage to find these elusive places?

I don’t know but sign me up - the sight of my flabby 54 year old arse will dull a few of those unwanted erections - so maybe other women can work out in peace

I'd like to know where all these naked gyms are too! You don't see that sort of thing at Equinox 😀

DeeCeeCherry · 27/04/2024 00:45

Naked workouts, bum scrunch leggings..Im now wondering what on earth are women - who dont sound as if they want to be around all that but patently are - are doing, going to these kind of gyms? You must want to go. I don't see this in my local gym. There are 'flashier' gyms nearby but younger people go there and I'm not young so, I wouldn't choose to go.

I just have an image of winged specs and cats bum mouth, staring at women disapprovingly on behalf of The Menz, instead of getting about their own business ie workout

There's a really weird undertone to this post and thread. Women who agree with the incel being distracted by women are just as consumed with pandering to the male gaze as they seem to think the 'scrunch' women are. Just in a different way

midgetastic · 27/04/2024 01:05

He's not (necessarily) an incel

He's just a bloke who find naked female bodies attractive and stimulating - and that's kind of normal - and sone outfits today look at first glance like a naked body

If you want to call that empowered or just doing your own thing - fine - be deluded

craxy · 27/04/2024 06:35

HooverTheRoof · 26/04/2024 18:10

I sometimes look at an attractive man and have sexual thoughts. I keep them to myself and carry on with my day.

And this is what decent men do. But many posters on here think they and you are perverts and a bit sick in the head for having sexual thoughts

craxy · 27/04/2024 06:37

@Pheasantsmate

I think I can safely say, whatever I am wearing, even if I’m prancing around in nipple tassels and not much else, I am not inviting this man to gaze on me in a sexual manner. So if he is confused by my outfit, he shouldn’t be…there is no fucking invite here mate.
If you are prancing about in nipple tassels no amount of denial will change the fact that you are doing it for people to look.
If you were on a desert island would you wear them? Nope. Because why would you. No one to look.
