Mines coffee. The whole coffee culture made me feel very bland for just wanting a cuppa when out with friends but in my 30's I finally realised it just wasn't for me.

Dark chocolate. I tried, believe me. It has to be milk chocolate, dark is just too bitter. I still buy it to bake and make mousse, but for eating, milk chocolate is where it's at.

Hate fruit and meat 'combos'....Apple sauce with pork, pineapple on gammon, pineapple on pizza or with cheese, I like all these things separately but together it like having main course and desert on the same plate.

Pineapple on pizza is vile, vile, vile. People who try to say otherwise are off their tree.

Firstworldproblemo · 25/04/2024 22:43

Vegetables. Almost all of them unless disguised in a heavily flavoured sauce like curry or green veg dripping in butter.

ObsidianTree · 25/04/2024 22:45

Chinese takeaway. I never enjoy it! Don't know why I order it!

BubblegumBlue24 · 25/04/2024 22:47

Coffee.
Cake.
Any kind of sweets whether haribo type, jelly babies, pick n mix, hard boiled etc - 🤢
Prosecco - makes me feel like a shrivelled prune.
White bread.
Bacon.

Fish and Chips. Dry, stodgy and bland.

Bansheenothree · 25/04/2024 22:50

Cake. It's so sugary with no texture - just not satisfying at all. I stick to cookies, traybakes and brownies now which I much prefer and have texture and crunch. I don't even bother with a slice of birthday cake when it's offered these days. (Obviously I refuse much more politely than this!)

I also don't drink alcohol anymore because I don't like how it makes me behave and feel the next day. I never really liked the taste though, was just for social drinking!

Eggs. I only really like them in a crepe smothered in melted cheese. I don't bother persevering with poached/scrambled/fried anymore.

KreedKafer · 25/04/2024 22:51

Thanks to annoying people poking their nose into my dietary habits and constantly telling me I drink too much tea, I used to periodically buy fruit/herb teas in an attempt to a healthier and calmer person. They always sounded and smelled absolutely delicious. Orange and cinnamon. Honey and ginger. Cherry and vanilla. Pear and blackberry. Every single one of them, bar none, tastes of absolutely fuck-all. SO FUCKING JOYLESS.

Also giving up caffeine had precisely zero effect on my health or sleep. Literally none.

I’m now back on eight to ten mugs of proper tea a day and anyone who bleats their wimpish mimsy nonsense about caffeine and tannins gets told where to shove their roobois.

Okayden · 25/04/2024 23:13

For all you gnocchi haters - try frying them. I used to hate the slimy fuckers but this is a game changer.

My DC love gnocchi fried or roasted but to me it just makes them into stale roast potatoes.

sunshine2go · 25/04/2024 23:38

Wine.

I realised in mid 20s it's just now for me! And the hangovers - ouch!

nothingsforgotten · 26/04/2024 00:00

Beer. I drank it in my youth, when there were only a couple of options, and never really liked it. One day I just said, no more! I can't even stand the smell of it. The things we do to fit in. I gave up wine also when I realised, after many years, that it isn't normal to feel so awful after just a couple of glasses.

MuggedByReality · 26/04/2024 00:07

Pastry, specifically shortcrust. I don’t hate the stuff, but I certainly don’t particularly enjoy eating it so since I lost weight it goes into the category of ‘not worth the calories”.

pelotonaddiction · 26/04/2024 00:38

Steak
Everyone says I haven't tried it cooked right or the right cut etc etc
I grew up in pubs/restaurants, I've tried everything from rib eye to sirloin and blue to well done
Chewy. Don't like it

Saschka · 26/04/2024 01:02

Green tea. I sort of half like it, in some situations. Mostly restaurants. But 99% of the time no (and no I’m not over-steeping it or using boiling water - I’m just not a big fan of the actual taste).

Saschka · 26/04/2024 01:05

@KreedKafer German fruit tea is actually good. Has some body and depth of flavour. I always stock up when I’m over there.

I totally agree British fruit tea is rubbish. I don’t know what Teekanne are doing that Twinings can’t manage 🤷‍♀️

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 26/04/2024 01:27

Cocktails, smoothies/juices, tea, ice cream, bread with butter, takeaways, sweet potatoes, stir frys, rice, pork, Chinese food. I feel like I should like them but these things are never my first (or fifth) choice.

Wearegoingtoneedabiggerboat · 25/04/2024 18:44

Tea. I occasionally have one to see whether I can enjoy it. Not succeeded yet . It just leaves an awful aftertaste.

Try decaf regular tea, less aftertaste

Maddy70 · 26/04/2024 02:39

Liver

Ive tried. I really have. Decades of being told you just haven't had the right kind or cooked a different way

Na. Its horrible
Love pate though!

Oblomov24 · 26/04/2024 04:59

Coffee
Olives
Frankfurters
Prosecco or Champagne
Oysters
Mussels
Chocolate cake
Cockles & Whelks
Raisins

Lolabear38 · 26/04/2024 05:04

Gin. I’ve always hated it but when it became crazy popular a few years ago I really tried to like it, but I just don’t.

FangsForTheMemory · 26/04/2024 05:16

Really dark chocolate. Hate the taste AND it gives me a headache.

Hesma · 26/04/2024 05:32

Olives 🤢

lifesrichpageant · 26/04/2024 05:40

It's always the same for me on these types of threads - RISOTTO - what is the point!?

SauronsArsehole · 26/04/2024 05:53

Alcohol.

chcolate flavoured things. If I make my own chocolate cake it’s different. Ditto brownies etc

margarine. I just don’t buy it now. Bed thing I did.

chicory. I love its texture, how it cooks. But the bitterness. Duck that.

Mrsjayy · 26/04/2024 06:59

Synergies · 25/04/2024 22:08

Honestly: cake.

It's almost always sickly sweet and overly rich. I sometimes eat it out of politeness but usually decline.

I don't really like cake either I'd never buy it in a cafe or wherever and as you say sometimes eat it out of politeness.

LGBirmingham · 26/04/2024 07:04

Salted caramel or Salted chocolate. Basically any sweet delicious thing with salt added. I can tolerate but really why ruin a lovely pudding with salt!?
