Mines coffee. The whole coffee culture made me feel very bland for just wanting a cuppa when out with friends but in my 30's I finally realised it just wasn't for me.

Chilli - it's in every fucking meal these days.

Aribaariba · 25/04/2024 21:27

Hate fruit and meat 'combos'....Apple sauce with pork, pineapple on gammon, pineapple on pizza or with cheese, I like all these things separately but together it like having main course and desert on the same plate.

Caswallonthefox · 25/04/2024 21:27

Honey. Unless my throat hurts.

ClairemacL · 25/04/2024 21:36

Meat! I’m kind of accidentally vegetarian because just don’t like it!

Wildflower2022 · 25/04/2024 21:37

Any cake that isn’t a heavy fruit loaf. I’m early thirties and have only just realised I don’t actually like it. Give me an doughnut or a Belgian bun any day but keep that crappy Victoria sponge away from me!!

Freakonaleash · 25/04/2024 21:42

Cake. I can just about do a piece of carrot cake or heavy fruit cake but then would rather a slice of fruit bread/teacake.
Candy
Beer
Gin that isn't flavoured
Salmon

I don't understand this. Surely you either like something or you don't?

There are things I don't like eg coffee and raw tomatoes - but I've always known I don't like them. Why pretend?

Genuine question, I just don't get it.

Me either.

PuppyMonkey · 25/04/2024 18:54

Hobnobs.

Omg yes!! Hobnobs are such a disappointment!

Settlement22 · 25/04/2024 21:50

godmum56 · 25/04/2024 21:44

Me either.

Well I think for me it was the psychology behind getting fish and chips at the seaside as being a nice thing to do and I kept romanticising it in my head. I also do like chips in general but have realised finally that I really don't enjoy chip shop chips.
I don't tend to not realise I don't like other food though, I have a list I don't like but have always known I dont like them.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 25/04/2024 21:53

Also pretty good at knowing I don’t like things, which isn’t to say I wouldn’t eat them if served by someone else, I’m an adult who is capable of being polite.

But that said - Prosecco. I thought that maybe I’d had cheap Prosecco or a bad bottle, but really even the expensive stuff I don’t really like. Sadly it’s now seen as a treat. I’d rather have a glass of normal wine.

HaggisHhahaha · 25/04/2024 21:54

Red wine

any shell fish/crustacean

professionalnomad · 25/04/2024 21:56

Not quite the same but as soon as I realised goats cheese tastes the same as goats smell I went right off it.

It really does! I've always thought this, but weirdly I still like it.

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 25/04/2024 22:04

I don't like a lot of foods but if you mean tried them and tried very much to like them, then:

Wine/champagne/prosecco etc (I like lager)
Goats cheese
Brie
Artichokes
Fennel.

Wellhellooooodear · 25/04/2024 22:05

Eggs. I want to like them and will occasionally make an omlette, full of nice things but it's ruined by the egg!
Also sprouts and mashed potato.

Judijudi · 25/04/2024 22:07

prosecco - hate the stuff even hate the name
green tea
mussels

Synergies · 25/04/2024 22:08

Honestly: cake.

It's almost always sickly sweet and overly rich. I sometimes eat it out of politeness but usually decline.

Ultravox · 25/04/2024 22:20

For all you gnocchi haters - try frying them. I used to hate the slimy fuckers but this is a game changer.

The only thing I can’t stand is okra. Bleurgh.

Fofftwenty21 · 25/04/2024 22:23

Increasingly a roast dinner! Used to love them but now I mainly feel a bit meh about them.

Venison.
Shop bought sandwiches
Sticky toffee pudding
Chocolate cake

abracadabra1980 · 25/04/2024 21:25

Chilli - it's in every fucking meal these days.

Amen!

It tastes like pain. I don't understand why folk enjoy it, even small amounts.

Fofftwenty21 · 25/04/2024 22:25

godmum56 · 25/04/2024 21:44

Me either.

I don't think its pretending. Tastes change and you can like the idea of something more than the reality such as roast dinners for me.

Loloj · 25/04/2024 22:27

Marmite

VeryBusyDoingNothing · 25/04/2024 22:27

Potatoes. I realised after about 20 years I just dont care about anything potatoes. Chips come with so much, I'd rather have rice. Mashed potatoes are the blandest thing on the earth. Not even fussed about crisps. Gave it all up!

Silkymum · 25/04/2024 22:32

Alcohol, tea, hot chocolate and most coffee. Also most chocolate is gross, I don't like it to be too sickly sweet or too bitter, and anything with palm oil tastes rank to me. I don't like cereal because it goes soggy. I don't like lamb. Low fat yoghurt is horrid.

cheapskatemum · 25/04/2024 22:33

Read the thread title & immediately thought coffee too, OP. Instant coffee in particular; there are certain ground coffees that I do like, but instant coffee tastes like a completely different drink to me.
