70s bush envy

Sparklybutold · 24/04/2024 11:34

Is it just me or does anyone else have bush envy? Yes I mean pubic hair bush. I swear I have alopecia down there. I would love a big soft bush. Apparently you can get a bush wig which I'd seriously consider.

(Dear Aston University - stick that in your pipe)

I think it's each to their own, but I really, really wish we could drop the "it's unhygienic" and "you look like a prepubescent child" claims, they are both rubbish.

PurpleCacao · 24/04/2024 13:21

Having a bush is sexy and cool.

I understand people liking the bare look (although personally I think it’s grim and pretty lame/outdated too). But surely the stubble on the in-between days? It’s so itchy and ugly. Who wants stubble and ingrown hairs on their fanny. A poster above said they let it get to 5mm before shaving. Surely that looks and feels minging. A nice soft bush is more aesthetically pleasing and feminine.

RE: “mouthful of pubes” comments - sorry but you’re putting your mouth on the wrong bit if this is happening.

Muddywalks34 · 24/04/2024 11:48

Nope I think it’s vile, just my opinion but I personally like to be hair free, that goes for my DH as well, no one wants a mouth full of pubes 🤢

Better than a mouthful of scratchy stubble or ingrown hair if we’re being graphic

MoonWoman69 · 24/04/2024 13:21

@GreenIcy Exactly that!
My husband looks over at me, gurning into my 10 x magnification mirror with tweezers poised and says, "Stop bloody plucking at yourself"! And I shout back, "Shut it! You'd complain if I looked like a sodding Sasquatch"!!! 🤣

LakeTiticaca · 24/04/2024 13:28

Pubic hair is there for a reason. It provides a cushion against chafing.
It also itches like ruddy hell when u shave.
I would.rather die than even think about having hot wax ripped off my delicate bits 🥶

LadySugar · 24/04/2024 13:29

It's offensive and infantilising to women who remove body hair for reasons entirely unrelated to the male gaze.

Sorry but it's true. Waxing may develop as a preference but part of it stems from societal standards 100%.

It's not a big deal, lots of things we do are influenced by what others like. Long hair, being curvy, long eyelashes/extensions, flattering clothes whatever. Why would this be any different? It doesn't mean you're some bimbo, it's called living in a society/culture.

anonymous98 · 24/04/2024 13:32

I hate how I feel hairless, plus I also get ingrowns and it hurts. I shaved for an ex-boyfriend and developed a huge ingrown hair cyst that had to be lanced.

Equally I know that it's seen as "weird" nowadays to be hairy, but oh well. It's a personal preference that shouldn't be influenced by societal trends (but sadly is for many people).

Oh I need one of those mirrors! My failing eyesight means I'm squinting even through my reading glasses!
We're the same age if your username is accurate. Good to know we don't lose our sense of humour (or sex life, even if it gets more giggly than passionate) as we age 😂

OceanicBoundlessness · 24/04/2024 11:51

I'm quite envious of the people with big red bushes with googly eyes.

Or is that Merkins? I get muddled up.

I think that's Muppets!

ForCandles · 24/04/2024 13:36

I've never shaved / waxed / veeted etc, my pits, bits or legs in my life.
Who cares if my pubes are trying to escape my swimsuit.
Why are you even looking between my legs anyway?
It's a personal preference and entirely up to the owner of the pubes.

CammyChameleon · 24/04/2024 13:37

It is a bit nicer to do oral on someone with out a bush, but the regrowth is annoying.

So DH and I struck a bargain years ago that if one of us feels bothered enough to shave/trim their bits, the other one will as well. We've gone the full spectrum together over the years - bald, trimmed and natural. We've been natural for a couple years in a row now I guess.

Previousreligion · 24/04/2024 13:37

Bush love here too. I used to shave my bikini line but hated it so much I bought a long-legged swimsuit instead so now I don't have to! I don't understand how people wax there, just the thought makes me cross my legs in pain.

Billsandfights · 24/04/2024 13:38

Totally with you on this. I’ve been getting waxed so long that I barely have any hair left apart from on my labia (which is also quite sparse).

I would love to be able to grow some hair, I really regret starting getting Hollywood waxes so young.

I shaved the lot off as a child during my first period. I’d never watched porn nor had sex for it to be anything other than a personal want. Maybe a minority I’ll agree but the last reason on my mind was to look sexy or something as such as my Tom boy self in trackies 😂

SocksAndTheCity · 24/04/2024 13:48

I'm fifty one and have zero interest in 'male gaze', or anybody else's for that matter @LadySugar .

I don't remove body hair, and my (head) hair is long because I don't like going to the hairdressers plus I'm too tight to pay for it - I think the last time I did was sometime in 2021. As for being curvy, I don't have a lot of choice about having G cup boobs and if I did, I'd likely drop them down a few sizes.

Not everybody constructs their whole lives based on what they have decided other people think, and thank God for that.

menohnopausal · 24/04/2024 11:44

Taking care of yourself is indeed important.

I take care of myself by drinking a big mug of tea while snuggled up in bed combing my big 70s bush

I laughed hard at this!

OP, no advice but really not a fan of the pre-pubescent look on men or women. It is creepy!

'thou must have big boobies but the rest of your body must look like you're 9 years old!' I mean...that's weird right? I think it it's really weird. I'm all for a bit of topiary but scorched earth? Nah.

I find it just a weird fashion and I hope the bush returns . Why is looking like a child more sexy .

For the love of God will people stop equating removing public hair with looking like a child. A woman with a waxed fanny looks like a woman with a waxed fanny, not a child!

Last time I checked, people were allowed their own perceptions...

Nope. It’s just grim. Taking care of yourself is important.

You're quite young, aren't you?

puddingisbest · 24/04/2024 13:57

I trim short if im going for a smear or on holiday or when i feel like it.
But never ever would i go bald again Im a grown woman we are meant to have hair down there.
I had a wax once and it looked and felt ridiculous my husband hated it and said sex would happen again when it grows back😂.
Waited 4 weeks to get some bristles back.

Everyones is different its down to that person and how they feel.
As long as I have something down their me and my husband are happy.

Annielou67 · 24/04/2024 14:00

Always had a full bush, hairy pits and hairy legs. Most partners (all but one) didn’t care, but then I probably wouldn’t have dated those who did. I also have strong eyebrows and a tendency towards a moustache so I think it would be obvious that if I don’t shave the upper beard, I certainly don’t shave the lower. I think it’s time we all started reclaiming our body hair and ditched the razors. Im very proud my daughter (20s) feels the same way.

That's quite a reaction to your first period though.

It's not.
Almost every lesbian I know is hairless.
I go between bald and bushy, my partner is always trimmed.

That said I've been with men and women and if you are getting a mouth full of hair you might be doing it wrong

How do you know this?! Does 'know' mean know in an intimate way, or just in passing?

I cannot tell you the status of a single one of my women friends pubic hair.
No, I take that back, I may have seen (but not really taken note) some when we're changing after swimming in the lake/river.

HangingOnJustAbout · 24/04/2024 14:11

I was watching a documentary on hair transplants for brows and they mentioned they're getting more requests to restore pubic hair.

Whatever is rare tends to become a trend, it took a while!

Opposite experience to me- I’m the only dyke I know who removes some bush.

Loads of them don’t remove any body hair (although are fans of the old undercut hair wise).

I take it all off underneath because sex feels better (for me). DW only removes the odd chin hair!
