AIBU to be so sick of being so bloody cold all the time when it's supposed to be spring?

This must be the worst spring weather ever encountered.

It's cold here, but that in itself isn't too bad. It's the rain that's driving me mad. Every single day it's rained here (or it feels like it!)

Desecratedcoconut · 25/04/2024 11:46

4c this morning and rain, now we have hailstones and I've cranked the heating up in protest but what I'd really like to do is to sit outside with a coffee and warm my bones in the sunshine.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 25/04/2024 11:56

3 degrees here this morning. Friday night is predicted to be 0 degrees.

WhatNoRaisins · 25/04/2024 11:58

It was weird last night, once the kids were in bed I was all for sitting under the blanket by the electric fire but it was still light.

My brother was born mid April, my mum says he spent many a birthday with it snowing when he was a child, including the day he was born. We're in the South

i don't think the temps seem low, but the wind is annoying, Especially after such a hard winter - probably the wettest winter in my memory, the hardest with my horses for sure!

I've given up horses after this winter, it has totally broken me. Ours are just starting to go out at night now. We've had them in since September.

KitKatChunki · 25/04/2024 12:07

It's more frustrating after it being warm for a bit. I was just getting used to being able to use my fingers and feel a bit energetic again. Back to the jumpers and padded coats and feeling less productive with free time.

parkrun500club · 25/04/2024 12:21

I think the issue is that we haven't really had any nice weather this year, other than the odd day or couple of days here and there. And it doesn't seem right when you have long days and cold weather.

It has been very wet and windy, and the wind is cold. Last year we had a cold wind until the end of May as well.

July was damp but it wasn't cold.

It's more likely to snow at Easter than Christmas, but the seasons do seem to be shifting more generally.

But there are always oddities, I was on holiday in Germany a few years ago in August and it was 28 degrees one day and 12 degrees the next!

My washing is out today by the way and it does get dry because of the wind.

Yes I think that makes it particularly weird. We are having "summer" trail runs in the daylight with my running club, but wearing long leggings and gloves! It is bizarre!

parkrun500club · 25/04/2024 12:24

I have had my gutters cleaned though, so that should mean no really heavy rain for a while Grin

@Umbongowasyuk and @Lovesgotme
Yes it is definitely due to global warming but what is astonishing to me, is the number of people who are in denial about that.

I work in a public facing role and often hear people sceptically sneering about the reality and effects of climate change.

I have some theories but I can't really understand why non-scientists think they know better than 99.9% of the world's climatologists.

I bet these lay people trust doctors and dentists and opticians and anaesthetists and engineers and forensic scientists and all the other professionals whose expertise is based on science. Baffling.

BillieTheFish · 13/06/2024 13:11

Still feel the same and it is June!

I don't know if they do though @LauderSyme - Michael Gove knew he was onto something when he derided experts before commencing the brain drain of Brexit.

I did some weather training with the Met Office earlier in the week. They are expecting heat waves once this air mass finally moves so we can all moan about it being too hot then.

BillieTheFish · 13/06/2024 13:23

I'm going to Cornwall for a week next weekend. I don't fancy freezing and then coming back home to a bloody heatwave and having to work in it.

It's always cold, it's England. Our sunniest day is as grey as an elephant.

Any idea when ? I hate it too hot so that isn't good news for me !

Singleandproud · 13/06/2024 18:43

@BillieTheFish nice weather won't be for another two possibly three weeks as predictions go. Possibly some hot and humid spells before that but will also bring thunderstorms and rain.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 14/06/2024 12:17

Dd went to see Taylor in Liverpool yesterday.

Windy and absolutely freezing for 4 hours apparently.

BlowDryRat · 14/06/2024 15:28

I washed my hair today just so I could spend longer in the nice warm shower.

TheaBrandt · 14/06/2024 17:13

Retrieved my winter work dresses back out of storage 🙄🙄🙄 thick slippers not been retired.
