This must be the worst spring weather ever encountered.

We have snow today (Yorkshire) and I'm channelling my inner Hannah Hauxwell and wrapped up in shawls and blankets. To add to the misery we only have one basket of logs left... Normally we stop needing to put the log burner on by the end of March. Plus we still have loads of pristine daffodils which is unusual.

It is colder than I remember for April , but I'm sure it'll cheer up and become warmer soon.
I don't mind it cooler myself, but a bit of sun would be nice to see.

BobbyBiscuits · 24/04/2024 10:50

It was freezing yesterday! I got that thing where I felt like my ears were gonna fall off?!
I find if I take my vitamins I keep a lot warmer. B vits, thiamine, folate, multivitamin. Magnesium as well in the bath seems to help!

Lockdown springtime was the last time I remember April being warm enough to put washing out and get it dry the same day.
I'm sure it'll be warmer by may and a hot summer and I'll be moaning about it being too hot then.
The weather is definitely strange at the moment

RedPony1 · 24/04/2024 10:58

My brother was born mid April, my mum says he spent many a birthday with it snowing when he was a child, including the day he was born. We're in the South

i don't think the temps seem low, but the wind is annoying, Especially after such a hard winter - probably the wettest winter in my memory, the hardest with my horses for sure!

LadyKenya · 24/04/2024 11:05

Meh! I am still wearing my winter hat. I cannot bear my head being exposed in this horrible weather.

I've not put any washing outside since September

Im not sure it will. It was cold and rained every day last July.

Precipice · 24/04/2024 11:08

It's been pretty warm here. Not so warm as some parts of Central Europe (where a couple of weeks ago it was high 20s and summer weather), but warm enough.

It has dipped a bit, but here Sunday-Tuesday is predicted 15 and 16 degrees.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 24/04/2024 11:09

Yep i'm fed up now, week and a half ago i did the school run in a thin hoody, now i'm in cardigan, said hoody and winter coat 😡
Come back Spring!!!!

FourLeggedBuckers · 24/04/2024 11:09

It’s unusual not to have had any spell of decent weather yet in the year - last year was wet and grim in April but we had a lovely warm feb / March. Nothing seems to be growing as much as usual this year, which is concerning - from an agriculture perspective, a horse owning perspective, and a human who would like to eat perspective!

exomoon · 24/04/2024 11:09

This must be the worst spring weather ever encountered.

It's not the worst, in my memory. It may be wetter but it has snowed in the south in April a few times, including 10 years+ ago.

JamSandle · 24/04/2024 11:11

I'm really looking forward to afternoons and evenings in the garden so I hope it gets warm soon.

MonsteraMama · 24/04/2024 11:12

It's been lush where I am the last few days, felt proper springy. Have had washing on the line, my morning cuppa in the garden, haven't got soaked on dog walks. It's been a pleasant reprieve from the fecking 40 days and 40 nights of rain we've been having.

Desecratedcoconut · 24/04/2024 11:12

High twenties? I'm going to assume that wasn't in the North East because I want to know where the hell I was when it actually warmed up.

I'm so sick of it. Dh was saying it was going to warm up next week...so, warmer rain then, yay!

I'd whinge more but the pictures of farmers with water logged and ruined crops reminds me to toughen up, but holy shit, come on now. It's beyond a joke.

LauderSyme · 24/04/2024 11:12

YANBU. Cold and wet. Windy and wet. Hailstorms, gales and constant 'below average temperatures for the time of year'. The grass hasn't dried out enough where I am to cut it yet this year.

I know this is Great Britain in springtime but it's demoralising.

RollnRock · 24/04/2024 11:14

I think the weather is ok ... but then I used to live in Ireland! Brrrrr!!!

Desecratedcoconut · 24/04/2024 11:15

Where are you where the weather is okay? Wall to wall rain, 4c this morning and a frost due through the week. Fml.

midgetastic · 24/04/2024 11:16

It might have sometimes snowed in April

But it has snowed in April this year too and overall it's been pretty pathetic - no balance of a bit of
Nice weather r

Comedycook · 24/04/2024 11:20

I was actually going to start a similar thread op. It's bloody freezing. I was wrapped up in my oodie last night. I need to go and weed my garden but I can't face the chill. I just want a little bit of warmth

TisAllBollocksSurely · 24/04/2024 11:28

I am so fed up of being cold.

I was just looking at a photo of my climbing jasmine in the garden last year. Photo taken in May and it was glorious. I can't even see it yet, this year. I think it's dead.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 24/04/2024 11:31

You can all blame me. We had a sunny spell in the midlands several weeks ago so I decided to vacuum pack all the big winter coats and put them in storage…

SingingSands · 24/04/2024 11:57

I remember a spring about 18(ish) years ago when it rained and rained and I was still wearing my winter coat in JUNE. One of the lawyers in my office used to ride his motorcycle in every day and he was sick of riding in the pouring rain in wet leathers.

This weather is getting me down too - we get two nice days (not warm, but sunny) and then it's back to rain/hail/sleet and grey clouds.

I've managed to get some washing out on the good days but it takes all day to dry.
