Cruella's boot boys out on the street again protecting our British freedoms in their usual brutish fashion with violent disorder. She must feel very proud.

What was their message? Their point? There's no coherent messaging from them. Just waving flags and causing bother.

AnnaMagnani · 24/04/2024 14:09

I caught the end of this outside Parliament yesterday.

Lots of people mainly blokes in England flags shouting a lot, all holding beers. Occasional scuffles with the police, mainly involving the protesters shouting that the police were 'fucking traitors'.

Police were trying very hard to ignore them and encouraging passers-by (it was packed with tourists) to do the same.

St George's Day: Arrests after disorder breaks out at Whitehall event - BBC News

Robinson and Fox were there.

I thought there were strict laws on protests now - with people being jailed if they don't follow the conditions set on the protests

They do but they rarely deal with it on the day, just deploy FIT teams and let people hang themselves. Then go and get them later at home

Came here to say this. And they gate keep resources for any one but those people too.

Who is gatekeeping what?Confused

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 24/04/2024 14:29

I wonder if there has ever been a chaotic situation where the arrival of Laurence Fox improves matters.

itsjustbiology · 24/04/2024 14:33

Is this the same Met police who charged Tommy Robinson and which got proved to be thugs and liars on the same day OP? The case that was thrown out by a Judge ?They cannot police anything impartially anymore or if they do its a two tierd police system , They bend over backwards on a saturday and ignore proven Hamas supporters. Spare me the hysterics of gammons drinking beer and being hooligans ..you would be surprised if you met some of the gammons you mock.

Northernnature · 24/04/2024 14:52

There is no sign of Tommy Robinson in that picture. And you are the same sort of people that say that it's not the pro Palestinian marchers fault that there are a load of hamas supporters and anti semites on the same march. So how do you know they are TR supporters and not just wanting to celebrate St George's Day?

AnnaMagnani · 24/04/2024 15:06

None of the people I saw just wanted to celebrate St George.

They were much keener on generally shouting and trying to provoke fights.

TooBigForMyBoots · 24/04/2024 15:07

I've no problem with people celebrating St George's Day. I love celebrations. Floats, fairs, Morris dancing, cakes. Celebrations are class.😁

This, however, was not a celebration. It was a bunch of people causing trouble while wrapped in flags. The trouble kicked off before the event was even due to start. Just because Tommy Robinson wasn't in that picture doesn't mean he wasn't there. He was. He gave a speech and everything.

Northernnature · 24/04/2024 13:48

Well you lot seem to think it is. You seem to think bunch of white people plus their national flag = far right. The hatred on this thread is disgusting.

What would you describe that lot in the photos as?

patchworkpal · 24/04/2024 15:10

What are they protecting it from?

siblingrevelryagain · 24/04/2024 15:15

Our lot never seem to have a purpose other than trouble; it’s as though it’s an act of defiance to wave the England flag rather than a celebration of all things England can and should be proud of; our heritage, our massive contribution to democracy, culture, creativity, science and medicine around the world etc. Other nations seem so much better than us at valuing their culture without it being a statement against someone or something else (although I guess this is just an example of a small number that sadly grab the headlines).

MarioIa · 24/04/2024 15:18

Tbf, there's usually more than six arrests at 'anti fascist' protests. And sometimes burning cars too. And that's before we get to Extinction Rebellion et al.

Allfur · 24/04/2024 15:22

I'm surprised they managed to escape the 15 minute cities they think they're trapped in

JaneJeffer · 24/04/2024 15:33

Where are the floats and the marching bands? England you need to up your game.

True. To get to Parliament we walked past the back of the MoD. Covered in red paint from some other previous protest.

MarioIa · 24/04/2024 15:37

I think what gets lost in all this is the reasons behind the widespread anger we see. No doubt, there are a lot of racists on the bandwagon too and these protests no doubt appeal to the hard of thinking, but I think it's also more complex than that.

Things like the relative indifference of the police and the left to events like the Rotherham scandal and the 1200 sexual assaults in Germany on NYE 2016 are the sort of things I'm talking about. The latter was pretty much an outright cover up by the police with them literally saying the night 'went without event' until all the stories started coming out on social media.

I've seen it on here a fair few times too. Most recently in a couple of heated threads where posters were linking data about asylum seekers and immigrants being massively over represented in sexual assault and rape statistics - e.g. being 1-2% of the population in France yet perpetrating almost 20% of 'serious sex crimes including rape.'

The very same posters that wax lyrical about women's safety etc were actively trying to shut down the debate, seemingly because they didn't like the fact that ethnic minorities were the culprits. Personally, I think it's unsurprising that men from cultures with horrendous women's rights records would continue their ill treatment of women tbh, yet it's taboo to discuss this.

This is the type of stuff that causes people to become angry IMHO.

Ummm a bunch of white working class people with some flags. I've no idea why it triggers you so much apart from having a superiority complex. And don't look like they're causing any trouble unlike JSO and the pro Palestinians.

MarioIa · 24/04/2024 15:41

A lot of people on the left seem to struggle with the idea that you can simultaneously be both oppressed and an oppressor. (I'm not right wing btw, I just see the hypocrisy on both sides similar to how some feminists and MRAs are pretty much contemporaries in their hate for the other sex).

yes, groups of white working class men are definitely marching waving England flags becuse they are worried about the rights and safety of women.

I dont FEEL superior to that lot in the photo.
I know

AmusedMaker · 24/04/2024 15:51

Thing is, if there was ever a need for an English army to defend England from attack - it would be the very people who some absolutely hate who would sign up to defend you. Defend you to the death too.

So, you don't think 'erosion of British culture' is a big part of it?

And if you look at the cultures most of them are worried are 'taking over' you'll find they're usually Islamic cultures which have horrendous women's rights records. As I said, it's a lot more complex than most give it credit for.
