Chocolate bars have got smaller and more expensive. I also find that it's the habit rather than the taste.
I need the Chocolate after dinner as thought ill feel odd if I go without.

Never. Don't really like it ...nor cake or biscuits. I like cheese and crisps

Aquarius1234 · 16/04/2024 17:30

Chocolate brownie and chocolate fondant 👏

Formerly daily, multiple times, but my PCOS has teamed up with my love of sugar and pushing me towards type 2 diabetes/insulin resistance so I’ve given up as much sugar as is reasonable! Boooo!!
I allow myself treats when on holiday (like a few days last week) but as soon as I got home that was it again. It’s more bearable to know it’s not a forever thing, it’s just for high days and holidays 😂

Moveoverdarlin · 16/04/2024 17:31

Every day

I absolutely love chocolate but I'm trying very hard to be super healthy in my 50s and have amazed myself by finally kicking the (daily!) habit.
I honestly never thought I'd manage it and I rarely miss it - nobody is more surprised by this than me!

Pleeeeeease, how did you do it?

chilimartini · 16/04/2024 17:33

Every. Single. Day

Createausername1970 · 16/04/2024 17:33

When I have willpower - rarely.

But as soon as I have some, I want more. Then it gets out of hand very quickly. I am sure it's addictive.

So I do try to resist. Moving to on-line shopping for other reasons has also meant I am not going into supermarkets regularly so I don't fall to temptation.

OnionBudgie · 16/04/2024 17:34

At Easter and Christmas, very rarely at any other time. I was a chocolate fiend when I was a kid, but my tastes changed. Savoury snacks all the way now.

LipstickLil · 16/04/2024 17:35

If I have it, I eat it, so I don't buy it. If I'm craving chocolate I have an Options Belgian Choc hot chocolate. It's not the same, but it's okay.

ManchesterBeatrice · 16/04/2024 17:36

About once a month of that.

Crisps on the other hand.

Bunnyhopskip · 16/04/2024 17:38

Very rarely. I just don't really ever fancy it. When theres a box in the staff room over Xmas, I might have one or two, but I'd never buy a bar of chocolate for myself. Cheese on the other hand... I can wake up at 3am and feel the need to go downstairs for a slice of cheddar (sometimes I just bite a piece straight off the block as no one else eats it in my house 😂)

LivelyHare · 16/04/2024 17:39

I can take it or leave it. I had some at Easter and found it sickly sweet, if I’m honest. A tin of canned peaches is my poison.

grinandslothit · 16/04/2024 17:39

I used to eat a block quite frequently but now that I think about it I haven't had any in ages I seem to have gone off of it.

I've moved country and most of the chocolate is quite rubbish here.

Alittlenonsensenowandthen · 16/04/2024 17:50

I've changed my habits so I have better quality chocolate less often. I'll sometimes have mars bar or something but an actual nice bar of chocolate, maybe once or twice a month.
I'm not super healthy - my vice is cake/pastries!

bakewellbride · 16/04/2024 17:52

Used to pig out on it daily but now it's only ever Sunday evening

murasaki · 16/04/2024 17:56

About twice a year, and only really dark stuff.

Cheese, on the other hand...

same for me. I don't buy it because I can't stop at one square. Easter was the last time for me, and Christmas before then.

Lavenderandbrown · 16/04/2024 18:06

Whenever one of my coworkers ( or maybe me) says it’s CANDY O CLOCK. yep time for candy and off I (we) go to the candy cupboard.

ManchesterLu · 16/04/2024 18:06

Used to be every day but 2 weeks ago I decided enough was enough and I completely changed my diet. I feel so much better for it. Haven't eaten chocolate since, and the only remotely unhealthy thing I've had is a pack of walkers baked crisps.

Londonrach1 · 16/04/2024 18:08

Are you asking how much per day as don't understand the question otherwise...it's a fruit as the coco bean grows on a tree...

(About once a day unless it's easter or Christmas)

ConfrontationDoesntHaveToBeScarey · 16/04/2024 18:09

2 or 3 times a day and I'm on a diet. Just 5 more pounds to go.

Rockthecasbah1 · 16/04/2024 18:09

Everyday. I've just polished off 4 ripples

Aquarius1234 · 16/04/2024 17:19

How much is an okay amount if you can't give up or have it very occasionally.
2 average bars a week?

That depends entirely on your body - how old you are, your metabolism, hormones, how much you are active/ exercise, what the rest of your diet is like.

It's impossible to say for sure. Generally though I think most people would not do themselves any damage by eating 2 regular bars of chocolate a week (e.g. 2 x 45g bars of dairy milk).

Feeling odd if you go without doesn't mean you need it - it just means it's a habit. You can break a habit if you want to.
