So - interests of fairness he is a decent man generally but he has this one habit that really puts my nose out of joint.

Say I have done something minor but I appreciate annoying he sends me a photo on WhatsApp, like a top left off a bottle or if the cat has killed a mouse (he hates cats) or similar. He just sends a photo, no accompanying message. I absolutely hate it, I think it’s really passive aggressive and I never know how or if to respond.

AIBU if I tell him to stop it?

It’s probably already been suggested, but do a poo and send a picture of that. When he responds to express his horror, send a message back saying “oh sorry, I thought we were sending unnecessary photos of things the other person doesn’t need to see?”

It's annoying but no worse than constantly showing me pictures or videos from his phone instead of sending them to me! That means I have to stop whatever I was doing and look at his phone all the time. My ex did the same thing, is this a men thing?

If you are at work when you get these scintillating photos, send one back of an object at work. The toilet tissue dispenser in the ladies room, the corner of a window sill, a spider, cobweb, empty soda can....the stranger the better.

I also like the idea a PP had where you send a bit of trivia info about whatever photo he sends.

Start an Instagram account and enjoy the messages coming in from him; you can use them for material. You’ll have some juicy stuff. One day you can show him it and he can enjoy how many people have commented on his bollocks. You can screen shot his self righteous messages too. Could possibly win the Turner prize.
