Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.

The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

I long to live somewhere warm and sunny . My mood is so affected by the weather. I'm convinced I'd be in better shape too. ...find it much easier to eat healthily and exercise in nice weather.

Umm yes I am in 'Scotland or somewhere', there are 5 million of us, believe it or not some of us even have internet now. I'm truly not exaggerating, you can see from the other Scots on the thread (hello! Great to finally have dial-up eh?).

I'd answer you but I'm out chasing haggis round the fields..

Daz57 · 08/04/2024 21:44

I am also in Oxfordshire on the edge of the Cotswolds and the last two weeks the weather has been quite good. I have been in the garden most days. This weather suits me though as I really don’t like hot weather!

SabreIsMyFave · 08/04/2024 21:44

As has been said, a bit of drizzle/cool weather here and there is one thing, but everywhere is boggy, flooded, puddle-ridden, soaked, and impossible to use. Hardly any blue skies, can't stand and chat to anyone, can't go for enjoyable walks, struggle to walk the dogs, the cats can't go out 'because rain' and get annoying - piss-arseing around in the house coz they're bored. (see also children!) and it's just GRIM! I know that word is overused on MN, but it is GRIM!!! I can't even walk down the canal path successfully as all the rain we have had has caused a landslide and brought the big bank down over the pathway!

Second only to the irritant that is this constant bad weather are the terminally positive people who just see it as a chance to splash in puddles and embrace the mud, the cold, the wet with a huge smile on their smug faces. 😁 For others it affects their mental health, their (in my case) property, their heating bills etc. This rain is not all ‘sunshine and roses’ for everyone. Grrrr

I'm convinced 99% of these 'positive' posters are nothing more than keyboard warriors who enjoy winding people up as whenever I'm out in the rain, I have never seen anyone dancing around, looking up with excitement at the dreary, rainy sky or jumping gleefully in puddles beyond the age of about 4

HolidayAtNight · 08/04/2024 21:45

So fed up of that bloody saying about inappropriate clothing. Having to dress for practicality day in, day out is so dull. Spring and autumn are usually when I get to dress a bit more interestingly than summer and winter. Also, hoods don't stop rain blowing into your face.

Wow way to overreact. Life must be exhausting if you always get offended so easily, jeez. And that was my point, you said ‘we have only had x number of sunny days’ I’m saying, no ‘we’ haven’t, unless you live somewhere different to me, which you do.. shall I get oh so offended as you assumed we all live in Scotland?? Calm down a bit, you might be happier.

Yes, I am always lighter/slimmer in summer/nice weather. I eat less food, and what I do eat is healthy. Right now I am having revels on toast and wotists for breakfast.

That may be a joke but you get the idea!

I don't do heat or hot weather, you'll find me in the shade most of the day. In the winter you'll find me in lots of layers and boots and happy as Larry. However this in-between winter and summer period is gloomy AF at the moment. It's not even the lack of blue skies because we've had some. It's the unpredictability that's doing my head in, my app constantly changes. I feel like all I'm doing is bringing washing in and out constantly or sweating in a t-shirt one minute and putting on a rain Mac the next. Give me more than one day of consecutive blue skies (I don't even mind patchy skies) just to lift my mood.

If it's any help OP, I live in a Latin american country and we are currently at the tail end of the dry season. It hasn't rained since October, it's so dry that my nose keeps bleeding at random intervals, my lips are cracked despite non stop lip balm, the pollution is horrendous because there's no wind or rain to move the stale, toxic air around so everyone is constantly getting sick. And it's hotter than usual this time of year so sleeping in the heat is rough, most homes don't have air con, and there is a very real risk of drought and water shortages if the rains come late again like they did last year.
I know I wouldn't like the non stop rain and grey of the UK right now, but honestly, I would happily trade right this minute! Send that rain over here, we will gladly take it and give the UK a break from the gloom - right now I would welcome grey and gloomy!

kitsuneghost · 08/04/2024 21:48

We've all heard the lack of time excuse
We then heard the cost of healthy food excuse
Now we have the it's a bit wet out excuse....... sheesh
When are we going to admit I'm a lazy b** and that is why I'm fed up and fat.

Well yeah exactly. Shithouse weather is fine - (well...., acceptable!) in chuffing winter - or even Autumn. But it's nearly the middle of April, and it's been shit for 6 months! Sad

LakeTiticaca · 08/04/2024 21:41

It's April
Notorious for being rainy
April showers

No, It's the end of the wettest 18 months on record. And here's the forecast for the next week in Glasgow. Might get a dry day on Tuesday next week...

Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.

This is why British people are so obsessed with home improvements.... because we spend so much bloody time at home

Lifeomars · 08/04/2024 21:51

I am so sick of it too, every day where I am it is pissing it down. I need to sort out my back yard for summer, I have some seeds to sow but they would just get washed away! The rain makes my hair frizz too which is another reason for me to hate it. I would cope better if the sky was blue but every day it is relentlessly gray and oppressive, am trying to focus on the lovely blossom and fresh green leaves coming out and keep telling myself it has to improve!

Mystro202 · 08/04/2024 21:51

I'm absolutely sick of it. Keep telling myself I'll get out walking as soon as the weather improves..and it still hasn't. Australia sounds like a good plan!

Whatsgoingonwithmyhead · 08/04/2024 21:52

I get out walking or running every day come rain or shine. If weather really bad I swim or workout at the gym. I’m not fat and haven’t had a cold yet this year.

Your life though, make of it what you will.

And those posters on here won’t be like that irl
