Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.

The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

”It’s not been so bad”. By me today…

Edited to add that the hideous concrete monstrosity is a sea defence wall, designed to keep the water out.

Should be fine with the right gear and a puddlesuit.

Bliss.

But to be fair, it's been Spring and Summer in Australia! And whilst we are pretty much all sick of the rain over here, it's has been mostly Autumn and Winter that we have had it. Your sunny, dry/hardly any rain past 6 months has been Spring and Summer where you are. The two situations are incomparable

You plainly know little about Australia @SabreIsMyFave . First of all it's a continent as well as a country so think of it as climate zones in which weather is experienced. I'll speak of what I know. The summer in Victoria was very meh this year, cloudy skies until noon nearly every day, but cheered up the moment my UK visitors left . Lots of rain. Autumn's beginning was glorious but no rain and the latter is end is settling into a normal Victorian mid-autumn.

Massive rainfall in NSW, high winds, not nice at all.

So it's not dry and sunny all the time.

What a supremely ridiculous post! Did you even bother reading my post properly - and the one I was responding to?!!!

I am also in Oz (Perth) and we have only had 21.8 mm of rain since October, the lowest on record. I can't say I've missed the UK rain, especially after reading this thread.

And I responded to her, saying of COURSE her weather has been better than the UK, and nice and dry since October, because it's been Spring and Summer in Australia, and it's been Autumn and Winter in the UK!

I know Australia has 'different climate zones' ... I'm not fucking thick. But this has naff-all to do with what I was saying. Different climate zones make no difference to the fact that it was still Spring and Summer in Australia, and it was Autumn and Winter here in the UK. So err, yeah, the weather IS going to be better in Australia over Spring and Summer, than in the UK over that period. No matter where in Australia you are.🙄

Your comprehension skills are shocking mate! #cringingforyou

no such thing as bad weather. I love nothing more than a walk in the rain, and wind! Better that a sunny day as not many people ate outside and I prefer not to see anyone. I live very rurally and can walk on mountain ms and in quarries and see no one.

bliss!

Well no, it isn't bliss.
Will you be on the summer haters thread if and when we get some warm weather?

Well it's autumn in NZ and we are still in a drought. It was 23 degrees here at 8.30 am. Just because it is autumn/winter in the southern hemisphere it doesn't mean we are having constant rain!! No matter how bad the winter weather in Australia it is nothing like what you are experiencing at the moment. Your comprehension skills aren't so great if you think that the weather in UK is the same as everywhere else.

Try having a horse. It’s torture and most horsey people I know are really depressed and exhausted.
My friend has a family of ducks who have moved into her fields and it is suiting them far better than the poor horses.

I hear you.

3 horses. Totally fed up. Muddy lake now in the field that smells putrid.

Desperado for dry weather now.

Funnily enough our mountain rescue has been busier than normal this year due to horrendous conditions in the mountains. Sometimes the mountains are not the best place to walk if the weather has been as bad as it has been this year.

Mountain rescue😂😂 my back garden in the mountain! I have no need for SAR.

Move abroad.

I did. I now live by the beach in beautiful sunny weather for 80% of the year. We do have winters in that other 20% but it's not a patch of British winter.

I honestly couldn't stick the grey, drizzle every day.

Realising you can actually just pack your bags and move to all year round golden sunshine is quite liberating.

I have never looked back.

Yeah, because it's sooooooooooooooo easy to just pack up your whole life, career, family, and everything you know and trot off to the another part of the world. Upheaving your childrens lives and leaving family and friends behind 'because it's a bit sunnier!'

People do it all the time you know. We all live on Coronation Street. Just walk into a new place/new country and get a new job, and somewhere to live within 17 minutes. And life is so perfect there, exactly like it was on holiday. Everyone will love you, people love nothing more than people coming from abroad to stay in their towns, and make a new life there. They are always made welcome. And you will just walk into a lovely shiny career that pays 15 times what you earned in the UK!🙄

Meanwhile in the real world, where most people live.................! Wink

Also, I love and care about my family and friends too much to leave the UK. I would only leave if I had no-one here who meant anything to me.

Oh my God I give up. 🙄 I never said Oz/NZ had constant rain in the Autumn/Winter. I said to a poster who lives in Oz - who said the weather there had been better than ours in the UK since October - 'Of COURSE the weather has been better for you- than us in the UK since October, because you have had Spring and Summer over those months, while we have had Autumn and Winter!'

You are ANOTHER one with poor comprehension who is not reading my posts properly.

I'm not scared of rain, but walking in sideways rain when the temperature is in single figures and everywhere is muddy is just not enjoyable, even when wearing weather appropriate clothes.

The vast majority of posters on this thread agree with me. I hate being cold. It makes me miserable.

I don't understand why you don't get it.

I love summer and proper summer weather.

Nobody said it was easy, but it's nice to be reminded that it is possible. We don't all have kids, or family and friends that we're close to. The only thing keeping me here really is a stable career.

It's just the 'just move abroad' thing that jarred me. Because the vast majority of people cannot do that. And most don't WANT to .. The UK weather has been shit for MONTHS, but I still wouldn't live anywhere else. Nope.

LuckySantangelo35 · 09/04/2024 22:59

Why is it so hard for some people to just admit that we are having bad weather?!

it’s so weird

its not as if the weather is some sentient being - it’s doesn’t need you to defend it

if it’s shit it’s shit and people can say it all they want.

Agree. Ugly waterproof clothes are so very bad. Hate wearing the stuff!

Poodleydoodley · 09/04/2024 23:07

Miserable in the northwest. I’m a dog walker and my van conked out last week and I’m now having to walk/bus between houses and walk the dogs separately instead of in groups. This morning I was soaked through to my underwear before I even reached the first bus stop! That with 4+ hours of walking ahead!

LookAtThatCritter · 09/04/2024 23:10

If it helps, I moved to a different country with much better weather and while the weather is different, it comes with a host of other problems. Sometimes I long for home - even with the never ending grey & rain!

And people are even fatter and more depressed here too!
