Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.

The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

The best people have some healthy cynicism and a dark sense of humour. Those who skip through life merrily spreading their one-dimensional positivity bore me senseless.

Me too. They’re often not very… switched on in my experience.

It was always one of my top requirements in a man. I used to have a boyfriend who was all bouncy and positive about EVERYTHING. It was like going out with a labrador. My darling DH is a relentless curmudgeon and I hope he never changes.

Have you watched the episodes of Friends with Phoebe’s boyfriend Parker? He is my idea of hell!

God the puddlesuit wankers are out in force I see.

@Plumeface miserable people bore me the most

All the people on here who are complaining - QUITE UNDERSTANDABLY - about the majorly shit weather, are not 'miserable' FFS. Just because people are sick of the RAIN, WIND, COLD, and STORMS, that doesn't make them 'miserable. What a ludicrous thing to say.

Also, as for suggesting people just go to the gym... How ridiculous! Not everyone can afford it, and plus it's as boring as fuck. I would rather shit in my hands and clap than spend half my waking hours in a naffing gym!

Crikeyalmighty · 09/04/2024 17:04

@Moveoverdarlin me too - in Bath. I'm baffled by posters in SW saying it's not cold. I have yet to not wear a thin padded coat and yes my heating is still coming on

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 09/04/2024 17:04

@SabreIsMyFave I approve of your gladiator preference, my point is simply yes we can all complain about the weather, or we can do something else. Anything, whatever pleases you.
FWIW it's beautiful here today, windy but bright. Excellent laundry weather.

Was only thinking back to 2020 - April May June - all blooming marvellous - at least we didn't have this amount of rain in lockdown

Yes, it was lovely. Smile This past 18 months has been labelled the wettest 18 month period on record by the Met Office, it has been DIRE. But apparently (according to some smuggingtons,) we should all just get on with it, stop griping, get some bastard waterproofs and wellies on, and go jumping around in the puddles like simpletons! Coz it's soooooo much fun in 45-50mph winds, 2 degrees C windchill, and with rainwater battering against your face.

Oh the joy! But we can have some hot chocolate when we get in and snuggle under the duvet. It's great fun, especially in the middle of Spring! Who needs mild, dry sunny days when you can go out in a fucking freezing cold monsoon, and be blown down the road, or hit by a massive branch that's been whipped off a tree eh?! 🙄

SabreIsMyFave · 09/04/2024 17:10

@MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira where are you? Brazil?! It's been raining 80% of the day today, and with winds of 40mph! (And 1 degree C windchill earlier!) It's the bloody middle of Spring! This has been typical weather in the UK for MONTHS now.

I love doing those things! But in Autumn and Winter, not fecking Spring!!!

LeChatChat · 09/04/2024 17:23

I pity the people who have spent a fortune to come down to Cornwall on holiday this Easter, only to get whipped by blowing sand / half drowned in horizontal rain. They can't even go near the sea as the massive waves will suck them in, so they trudge round my local town looking despondent.

Grand. It's grey and dreary and raining heavily where I am.

Hedjwitch · 09/04/2024 17:26

Raining again today in Central Scotland. Heating on. Feck knows how we're going to pay the bill. Wet washing everywhere. Garden is a swamp, havent cut the grass yet this year. Desperate for some warmth and sunshine.

RampantIvy · 09/04/2024 17:31

I have just ordered an exercise bike as I don't feel safe cycling outside in this wind and don't have waterproof cycling gear (and hate cycling in the rain)

Augustus40 · 09/04/2024 17:32

To be honest I can cope with the cold as long as the flippin' sun comes out. Makes all the difference if you ask me.

The endless rain and wind is shite.

See I'm just back from a week in the sun.
my mood and energy levels improved.
my joints stopped aching
I slept better
i love being out doors.
The way the dark wet months sap my energy and mood and resilience is something that is getting worse as I get older.
My menopausal anxiety has never been worse than this winter as the Best therapy for it is being outside and being active
But hey we're just grumpy and lazy and need to embrace those puddles and adopt a positive mental attitude

Exactly - they need to piss off!

Glad you enjoyed the sun - I am going to Spain next month and can't wait to have the sun on my face.

It rained here most of the day (stopped and actually sunny now but cold and dam) and me and DS got soaked. It was windy enough that our umbrellas blew inside out and my hood blew down so I was like a drowned rat

Mimilamore · 09/04/2024 17:34

New lakes have formed on our marshes and colonies of ducks taken up residence. I walk in all weathers but once the clocks change I really want to feel I can wear lighter clothes and wash and put away all the all wether stuff I have been wearing for months... and I missed November as was in a hot country!

😂 Sunny Essex, it was nice yesterday too until the evening when we had a few showers

NoisySnail · 09/04/2024 17:50

It is still blowing a gale here. But the sun is shining a bit through the grey skies.

Shadeelane · 09/04/2024 17:54

It's not just the wind and rain and getting wet though. We went for a walk the other day, it was dry but cloudy and the sun started to break through just as we were finishing. But the paths were almost impassable. So much mud and deep puddles.

We had good boots on but were slipping and sliding all over and the walk took nearly twice as long. This was on a flat reservoir path. Nothing is drying out. I'm trying to just embrace it now but walking is getting harder and harder.

user8800 · 09/04/2024 17:55

I'd say I'm not usually affected by the weather, but the last couple of weeks have been grim :(

Blowing a hoolie, that awful light misty rain that drenches you without you really noticing, grey skies, cold...ugh.

I'm a fair weather walker I'm afraid so am staying in!

Hope May improves...last may was the wettest on record

Roselilly36 · 09/04/2024 17:57

Me too, it’s depressing. Horrendous wind and rain, I have had enough of it too OP.
