Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.

The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

It feels like it has been constant wind and rain here for the last 6 months, really not good for drying the washing so it has been hung on radiators around the house. All I can imagine is all that moisture going into the walls 😬. It hasn't stopped us going out but it has meant even more wet clothes to dry when we return 😟

TiredCatLady · 09/04/2024 09:58

8 degrees and chucking it down where I am today.

I’m a pretty outdoorsy person and have all the appropriate outdoor gear but it really has been bloody miserable for months. Garden is a soggy mess, we still have the heating on and I’m still regularly putting my thermals on. I know it’s an El Niño year but still.

LaBobkin · 09/04/2024 09:59

A field near us has been waterlogged since before Christmas. It now looks like a salt marsh / shallow lake, and in the last few weeks has had seagulls swimming in it.

It's global warming.

It's just been in the news that March has been the warmest for decades.

We've had no snow and barely any frost all winter in the south. I think we've had around 3 frosty mornings this year, if that.

And everything in my garden is flowering a month earlier than it used to.

Honestly, I'd not get depressed over the weather.

I've got members of my family terminally ill and to be frank, anyone whinging about the weather doesn't have enough real issues to worry about.

in the south

Uh-huh...

The idea that someone can't have bigger problems in their life and still have a moan about this dreadful weather is ridiculously simplistic.

My grandmother died a couple of days ago. It's not stopped my mother and I having a good old moan about the shite weather. It's like winter still most days on the west coast of Scotland. We have the fire lit nearly every night, the winds are battering and it's raining constantly. The daffodils and cherry blossoms are in bloom- you can just about see them peering out from underneath your rain battered hood.

I'm fucking sick of it and my grandmother would be calling it all the cunts too if she were still alive.

I stubbed my toe this morning too and had a good rage about it. Should I not have since I've got bigger problems going on in my life? Try having a more sophisticated view of human emotions.

I'm one of those rare beings who doesn't like hot weather, and loves wind and rain! So I'm happy with it🤭
But, I appreciate that I'm in a tiny minority, and I feel sorry for those who are struggling.

"Have you seen the price of food there? Those fuckers can't afford to eat."

😂😂😂😂

Wooloohooloo · 09/04/2024 10:04

@PeaceandCakes I lost my lovely dad recently and I still complain about the weather. Awful things happen all the time- look at Gaza. But that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to complain about more "trivial" things as well.

Lampzade · 09/04/2024 10:04

I know what you mean Op
I am a gym rat, but haven’t exercised for two weeks. I have just been eating a whole lot of carbs
I don’t mind the cold tbh, it is the constant rain that I detest

notproofread · 09/04/2024 10:04

YABU about the weather (it's northern Europe here, not the Med)
YANBU about the endless non-stop never-ending illnesses
YANBU about the cost of living and rundown public services

Corinthiana · 09/04/2024 10:05

You're absolutely right, @Spudthespanner . I'm sorry for your loss, but it really doesn't mean that you can't get annoyed by other things!
Oh and 🙄to "the south".

Lonelycrab · 09/04/2024 10:06

Yanbu. Thoroughly fed up with the grey skies now. The few miserly bits of sunshine we’ve had these last few months have been a few hours here and there, and then a fortnight of wind, rain and completely grey skies. 😩

tigger1001 · 09/04/2024 10:06

A bit of wind and rain doesn't generally bother me and I will still get out.

But this has been relentless for months. Fields are just waterlogged and that makes me concerned about the farmers and ability to grow crops this year. That's really not good.

? My cousin, who goes walking for fun, 20 miles a day for a week abroad across mountains and likes to take me up waterfalls (‘Well, it’s rained since last week, it wasn’t a waterfall last week’) would say ‘You’re dressed wrong’ if you complain about the weather.

I was taken on a hefty walk last week with lots of family, it was raining the whole time. Today-raining-no surprise, I have to take one dog on a lead walk in the park because he’s hurt his paw then I’m taking the other on a ‘proper’ walk in the woods. I’ve got waterproof trousers and an oversized waterproof coat. The rain will not stop me and the dogs would not be happy with no walk! Get dressed for it and go.

This thread has been interesting. I'm generally quite gung-ho about bad weather but I am sick to death of the grey and the rain too. I feel like it's affecting my motivation and general happiness now.

Yesterday saw some rare sunny spells. I took the bike out for a mini expedition and truly felt JOY.
Back to low cloud and rain today.
I fear another summer like last year.

I honestly don't know what wet weather gear even is. Like what items of clothing does it actually encompass. I imagine I'd look like a total wally walking around suburban London fully done out in waterproofs. So what does it even mean. Also the weather goes from wet to dry in an instant so surely you then end up looking like a bit of a prat

Wellies and a waterproof anorak. Some people have waterproof overtrousers too. And you wouldn't need them in London - an umbrella is fine - unless you have a dog to walk in the park on a daily basis, in which case you will still find Londoners in wet weather gear!

I guess it's fun for frogs, snails, ducks and me.
But I realise most people don't like it, and I'm very sympathetic.

Hay prices, feed generally, are going to be elevated. That will impact the human food chain, basics like bread and cereal will be even more expensive. 😢

Don't say that! I've been consoling myself for all the endless rain with the thought that it MUST mean a lovely long sunny summer!

Corinthiana · 09/04/2024 10:10

Waterproof jackets and trousers are all very well, but it's doesn't help if you wear glasses. I have to keep stopping to wipe them otherwise I can't see. Not fun.

I am not sure about the ducks actually. I live near a couple of ponds and the ducks tend to stay tucked up whenever it’s raining heavily. They are nesting right now. I feel sorry for them.

pictoosh · 09/04/2024 10:12

Sorry. But you know, this hasn't really lifted for a long long time.
