Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.

The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

The washing is a pain.
Get a tumble dryer, it really does help.

Nowhere to put a tumble dryer in this house.

I agree with you OP. Hopefully the summer will be a long, hot one and anyone who moans about that should just remember..." no such thing as bad weather.....".

Alltheshoes74 · 09/04/2024 09:13

i'd love a bit of sunshine - have dogs so walk in all weathers and now ive invested in good dog walking stuff its far less grim but i miss walking in fields n the sun

AstralSpace · 09/04/2024 09:13

Another grey wet windy day here too.
I need something from the shops which are about a mile away so I'm going to walk there.
There's not much pleasure in walking at all on this weather but it's still important to do some activity.
Remember to take your vitamin d.
We'll get through this!

We got a puppy last year born on 1st July,we had rain in September she didn't want to go out in the garden,it freaked her out because she hadn't seen it

Confused I refuse to believe there was anywhere in the UK last year that didn't experience some rain between 1st July and September.

Last summer school holidays was abysmal!! (I live 30 miles outside London so probably still classified as SE - which normally has less awful weather!!) I concede we had a lovely warm and sunny June , but July and August were dull, rainy and windy for the most part. It's the first time in 10 years we went abroad on holiday and we felt v grateful we were able to.

Hereallweek · 09/04/2024 09:15

I have a horse (on livery due to work so I'm saved some of the mud) so I'm outside a lot and I live high up in Yorkshire. My god, I think we've had 8 dry, vaguely sunny days since the middle of October. Of those, three were just about warm enough to take your coat off if you were out of the wind.

Off to Spain in two weeks and I CANNOT wait to feel both warm and dry outside for a change. My skin will probably get frazzled though as it won't have seen a UV ray in 7 months. (factor 50, obvs, before anyone jumps in)

It rained every single day in July near us. Proper rain. I kept a diary.

Hereallweek · 09/04/2024 09:17

Just to add, we also now have ducks living in our horse's fields / aquatic centre. Half of our hacking paths are no-longer accessible because they're under water or a bog.

Whinge · 09/04/2024 09:19

Exactly. Which is why I refuse to believe @Nannyfannybanny 's puppy didn't experience any rain at all until September. 🤥 There wasn't a single area of the UK that went all of July and August without any rainfall.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 09/04/2024 09:24

Yup, south coast here and we have had really shitty weather and strong winds FOREVER. My hobby is paddleboarding and I've been out ONCE since January, as it's so bloody windy or rainy all the time. My Facebook memories showed us on the water this time last year - blue skies, calm water - no chance this year.

Isitovernow123 · 09/04/2024 00:27

It rains, it’s windy, the suns out, it’s cold, it’s hits, it’s snowing. Doesn’t matter, just get on with life and stop moaning. It doesn’t do you or the people around you any good whatsoever.

@Isitovernow123

no we can moan about it all we want. It does matter , it’s shite weather

you can just crack on if you want

but you don’t get to tell others what to do!

BatchIt · 09/04/2024 09:30

I was so happy with a bit of sun yesterday and waking up to pissing rain again this morning has nearly finished me. The weather has never affected me as badly as this winter.

horseyhorsey17 · 09/04/2024 09:33

innerdesign · 08/04/2024 18:51

Oh god, I agree OP but we're going to get loads of people who live on the south coast going 'well it's not like that here!!!'. I have waterproofs, I also have a spaniel, so I'm out long walks in all weathers. In the past two months I think we've had three walks where I've taken my winter jacket off. The rest it's been raining or cold and windy. Last summer we had three weeks of nice weather in May/June, two days of sun in September, and I'm not exaggerating when I say the whole rest of the year was cold and wet. It gets you down.

I'm in the south-east and am yet to schlep out on a dog walk this year without my wellies and thick waterproof anorak! It's just been GRIM. Slithering down muddy hills with an enthusiastic dog on a lead has sent me flying a few times too. In fairness though it hasn't been that cold down here, I've not had the heating on for at least a month now.

I am SO GLAD I am currently horseless!

LuckySantangelo35 · 09/04/2024 09:37

VestibuleVirgin · 09/04/2024 09:01

Heard it all now. Just because you cannot be bothered to put on a bit of wet-weather clothing and go for a walk, rain is responsible for making you fat...
Yes, you should have 'fecked off' to Oz to chase the sun and a better body. Spoiler alert though, it does rain there too.

@VestibuleVirgin

why are you being so defensive?

the weather is shit

its harder to get out and exercise, less people fancy salad, when you’re stuck in jumpers all the time people do get a bit more lax about their diet and exercise than if they’re wearing little dresses or whatever

it’s human and natural

Blankscreen · 09/04/2024 09:40

We got a pony for my daughter last October. I knew the winter is generally hard work and grotty but I am sick of it now. There is so much mud in the clay fields and it just never dries out.

The dogs are constantly filthy.

I have food out door clothes and try to make the most of it but I am v v v fed up.

Mary28 · 09/04/2024 09:41

The weather is awful this year.
I do get out every single day for an hours walk though and usually drag a teen with me to get them out. We put on wellies, wetpants, raincoat and bring the dog. The dog gets destroyed and my utility is a cess pit as a result. We're vacuuming about 4 times a day all winter cos we're just bringing in so much dirt. I was just thinking this recently, how much more motivated you are to have a good figure if you're wearing more revealing clothes. We're all still in winter clothes / rain gear and it's almost mid April. It's 6 degrees outside right now here!
I have to get out and walk though, otherwise I'd lose my mind. I wont let the weather stop me getting out of the house for a walk but it can be hard to convince the kids to come out if it's raining. When I think back to my own childhood, all I really remember is rain. I remember very little sunshine!

LuckySantangelo35 · 09/04/2024 09:43

It’s 9 degrees where I am today.

9 DEGREES! So cold for spring.

it’s pathetic honestly

OkayKinkade · 09/04/2024 09:43

BatchIt · 09/04/2024 09:30

I was so happy with a bit of sun yesterday and waking up to pissing rain again this morning has nearly finished me. The weather has never affected me as badly as this winter.

Same. I've had to close my bedroom window at night because the sound of the relentless rain through the night makes me so fed up.

For the idiots who say it's been fine for me/I love to cosy up at home and listen to the rain/stop moaning/buy waterproofs (and I honestly do think they're idiots)....do you never spare a thought for homeless people outside in this, dogs who aren't lucky enough to have nice owners and live outside, people who have outdoor jobs, the impact its going to have on food availability and prices, disabled people who can't get outside in bad weather.

And especially for you Teacher, you're not as funny as you think you are and piss off to your Facebook groups with your hun.

Halloweenrainbow · 09/04/2024 09:44

YANBU. Even if well bundled-up its not pleasant to walk in 60mph gusts and horizontal rain (Scotland). I love gardening - its my hobby and therapy but I haven't started spring planting yet because there hasn't been a day its not pouring rain or blowing a gale. We had a flurry of snow the other day.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/04/2024 09:47

I'm seriously contemplating booking a week in Spain very short notice when I can see it's sunny and over 18 consistently for a week- all this rain has given me arthritis in my dodgy knee and neck

cathyandclaire · 09/04/2024 09:49

Hear hear!
Our garden is so waterlogged ( Yorkshire and clay soil) and the weather has warmed a bit so fungi have attacked our lawn and hedge-patchy, muddy and standing water- it's like the Somme out there.

I do get out but it's so miserable my dog has taken to lurking behind under the trees to stay dry.

AlpineMuesli · 09/04/2024 09:52

It’s minging today. We are such a windy country.

PeaceandCakes · 09/04/2024 09:52

It's global warming.

It's just been in the news that March has been the warmest for decades.

We've had no snow and barely any frost all winter in the south. I think we've had around 3 frosty mornings this year, if that.

And everything in my garden is flowering a month earlier than it used to.

Honestly, I'd not get depressed over the weather.

I've got members of my family terminally ill and to be frank, anyone whinging about the weather doesn't have enough real issues to worry about.

Plumeface · 09/04/2024 09:53

40mph winds in delightful Bristol today. Such fun.

Menomeno · 09/04/2024 09:56

SallyWD · 09/04/2024 09:03

No but I do live in the North.

People think that the south is drier than the north, but if you look at rainfall maps it’s West-East that makes the biggest difference. Western UK can get 6 times as much rain as the east. It’s been torrential here all morning, on the back of the storm at the weekend. It just feels like there’s no respite from it. We haven’t had a proper summer here since 2020. Even when the rain stops temporarily, it’s still grey and overcast, and threatening to start again.

MarkSloaneComeBack · 09/04/2024 09:56

I hear ya op, just having a little sunshine here so thought I would put my throws on the line, my lawn is so waterlogged that I slid everywhere.

I've got a toddler so can't stay in really, we've been enjoying some windy walks on the beach, looking for seaglass
