The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

The roads are also completely fucked with potholes everywhere.

Thanks to all who voted for brexit I can't move to spain now. Another thing to add to the shit country with shit weather

Brexit has been an unmitigated disaster.

I think people who voted for it were under the illusion it would ''Strengthen the borders to UK''

All it has done is ramp up prices, caused 20% import tax, even from Eire to UK, and there are more Dinghies with illegal migrants in than there EVER were before.

Brexit has been a curse.

Name one good thing about it?

There isn't one.

Monthly rainfall totals vs average for the weather station nearest me. May 2023 drier, June spot on average, July, September, October, December-March all much wetter than average. These figures are all there on the SEPA website for Scotland, sure there is similar for other parts of the UK.

Could cheerfully strangle people who go on about no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes. Because top of everyone's idea of a fun summer holiday is a fortnight in the rain.

I'm with you on the strangling although we might not need to resort to that when all their cheerful puddle jumping is brought to a swift end when they see the massive increase in the price of food end of this year into next. It has been HELL this past 8/9 months for farmers trying to sow winter and spring crops. Lambs dying in the endless shit weather. Many farmers are at breaking point. It HAS been the wettest 8 months and it's shit.

Shove your "no such thing as bad weather" bollocks where the sun don't shine. No pun intended.

They should flipping well invest in some then. Utterly ludicrous!

The water companies actually investing in something? Pigs might fly...

They dont have the storage facilities apparently..

That's because the thieving bastards haven't built one single reservoir since privatisation.

@Heatherley ..It's been the wettest winter in UK for 130 yrs according to Radio 4.

I agree with food prices...they are going to rocket - imagine horse and cattle feed, too.

As if anyone was seriously wearing shorts and t shirt as an ordinary outfit and not for exercise in the UK today. Like those pillocks who wander round in flip flops in the middle of winter.

Yup, 18 degrees and sunny my a"

peloton2024 · 09/04/2024 00:00

The 20th April looks sunny on my weather app... Probably jinxed it now

On a plus point sandals are down in price.

Whatever you do, don’t any of you buy a bbq or outdoor furniture because that is the kiss of death to any hope of being able to use it!

People saying go for a walk - all good if you live in the countryside where there are nice scenic routes on the roads. In cities and towns, the only alternative is to walk in parks and woods where you’ll be knee deep in mud. I take the dog for daily walks and am beyond pissed off with having to shower him off as soon as I get through the door. Twice a day. Still manage to get muddy paw prints on floors and rugs, and sofa if I don’t grab him in time. It’s just all so depressing and draining.

I think the countryside in MOST areas is far worse, actually. The majority of rural areas I know have bendy roads with no pavements or street lighting, so they are downright scary to walk along (and terrifying if you time it badly and darkness starts to fall….not so much of an issue right now, but in December the days are very short in the UK esp in the north).

At least in a city you can get some walking and biking in during errands and days-out, even if they are not always that scenic!

Actually, they’ve tried to build reservoirs but residents protest and block the building every time.

Hmmmm, would really love to see some evidence of that.

AnTeallach · 09/04/2024 00:07

I'm in Edinburgh, where by April 6 we'd already hit 170% of average rainfall for the month. After ONE WEEK! The March total was 222%. I've made it through the winter and the lack of daylight, but I can't take much more of this endless rain.

As PPs have said, it really pulls down the mood when everything else is going to shit.

DownWithThisKindOfThing · 09/04/2024 00:08

we always take this week off work and my fb memories are full of us going on walks, picnics etc. no chance this week

You could freeze to death or die of heat stroke somewhere else in the world if you preferred.

You have an attitude problem not a weather problem.

Believe it or not, there are countries where you don't freeze to death, or die of heat stroke, but the weather is still much nicer than in the UK. Hmm

Lagoony · 09/04/2024 00:18

At least the days are getting longer. The rain is annoying but for me there's nothing worse than months of darkness. I have to fight to get out of bed every morning in January, it's absolutely awful. Then you get in from work and have no energy because it's already pitch black outside. Give me any weather but spare me the horrible short days.

coxesorangepippin · 09/04/2024 00:21

In the 1940s there were very cold winters with frozen waste pipes on houses.
In medieval times as well as Black Death there were some years with no sun therefore no harvest.
At least we are spared those extremes

^

Thankful for small mercies eh 🥴🥴

Give over. What’s that got to do with anything? We can’t have a rant about the incessant rain here, because other countries have it so much harder? You can also freeze to death or die of heat stroke in the UK - it’s happened.

Bristol.

I walked 6km around the harbourside yesterday with my kids and the dog. Stopped at a independent food market, got food which we sat outside and ate. It was a bit windy but not enough to stay indoors.

Whoop whoop keep posting anything that proves you’re doing better in the micro climate that is Bristol 😎

I want to, but my wheelchair isn't waterproof and the rain would mess up the battery. If I get wet, I get ill. Not all of us can just go out.

Isitovernow123 · 09/04/2024 00:27

It rains, it’s windy, the suns out, it’s cold, it’s hits, it’s snowing. Doesn’t matter, just get on with life and stop moaning. It doesn’t do you or the people around you any good whatsoever.
