The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

I agree it’s frustrating, but looking around the world, it’s hard to see any particular correlation between weather and body weight. And Australians are even more overweight than the British!

I do sympathize with everyone in the UK though - it has been a rain sodden winter for most of the country, and to add insult to injury it looks as though there will still be a hosepipe ban this summer anyway!

They should flipping well invest in some then. Utterly ludicrous!

Aye. Pretty sure I've had about a reservoir worth's fall on me in the past hour alone. How can they be running short??!

NoisySnail · 08/04/2024 23:21

They can fuck off with a hosepipe ban.

I’m also in Bristol and it defo wasn’t
drizzly all day. I was walking around the city centre for over an hour at lunch time ish and it didn’t rain at all in that time and the floor was dry so it didn’t rain before that. I didn’t wear a coat and can remember thinking how nice it was.

I was out morning and afternoon in Frenchay and Fishponds and it absolutely was drizzling. That mild weak drizzle that's pretty unique to the south west.

ElloiseMcTavish · 08/04/2024 23:25

It’s been an exceptionally wet winter and I’m sick of it too. It’s been so muddy! I’m so ready for sunshine and flip flops weather. The winter fields for the horses are so churned up they’re unusable and we’ve given in and started using one of the summer fields.

There is a saying "no such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing". No idea where you live, but here in the SE UK,it was 18c today, shorts and t shirt

In the Highlands of Scotland we all wear appropriate clothing, we’re used to the weather. What a stupid post.

We’re farmers, go figure…. We know what clothing to wear, however, I’m willing to be educated @Nannyfannybanny if you can suggest more weather appropriate clothing?

i don’t agree with you @Wayofliving

@JacquesHarlow

how can you not? The weather is shit

Misthios · 08/04/2024 23:27

Monthly rainfall totals vs average for the weather station nearest me. May 2023 drier, June spot on average, July, September, October, December-March all much wetter than average. These figures are all there on the SEPA website for Scotland, sure there is similar for other parts of the UK.

Could cheerfully strangle people who go on about no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes. Because top of everyone's idea of a fun summer holiday is a fortnight in the rain.

Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.
Plumeface · 08/04/2024 23:27

As if anyone was seriously wearing shorts and t shirt as an ordinary outfit and not for exercise in the UK today. Like those pillocks who wander round in flip flops in the middle of winter.

NoisySnail · 08/04/2024 23:20

Some days!!
I have no idea where you are but where I am it sodding pours down virtually every day. The air feels so damp. I just want the rain to bleeding stop.

Bristol.

I walked 6km around the harbourside yesterday with my kids and the dog. Stopped at a independent food market, got food which we sat outside and ate. It was a bit windy but not enough to stay indoors.

I feel like native Bristolians are immune to the bad weather tbh. It's dreadful 80% of the time here. Absolutely no way could I have sat outside to eat yesterday, I'd have been blown away.

Maybe it stayed over that side. I live closer to bath although still Bristol but it defo wasn’t raining when I went into town.

PilkosPumpPants · 08/04/2024 23:31

The only good think about Brexit would’ve been if we had negotiated having the Med’s weather!

LuckySantangelo35 · 08/04/2024 23:31

The wind pisses me off too

Crikeyalmighty · 08/04/2024 23:31

@Bjorkdidit we lived in Copenhagen for 19 months- I def wouldn't say the weather was worse- def more sun, less rain, less wind, but rarely above 25 degrees in summer and more snow and frost in winter - but not shedloads, 2 or3 spells of about 5 days each.

I hate the cold and will moan like a good un if it’s terrible but I don’t think the weathers been that bad 😂
Loads of people were sat outside eating 😅 got some amazing doughnuts from the stand too.

LenaLamont · 08/04/2024 23:32

It's rained so hard for so many months that the ground (heavy clay) here is actually unstable to walk on. What was once a lawn is under 3 inches of water, all the pathgs are canals, the raised beds are sodden islands in between.

Everything except the rhubarb is rotting off. This is usually my favourite months for gardening. The greenhouse has flooded.

Crikeyalmighty · 08/04/2024 23:32

I honestly have not had 1 day since last October where I haven't needed a padded waterproof coat, I have a very thick one and a thin one -

But that's what I mean! You get 30 seconds in of sun here and the harbour's immediately flooded with people in sunglasses and sliders!

Lawn hasn't been dry enough to mow in months. Frenchay Moor is like a bog!

Upallnight2 · 08/04/2024 23:36

Shite sick.. currently in Spain though so soaking up some warm weather. Nice to know I'm still coming back to a depressing swamp of a country 🙄

Evenstar · 08/04/2024 23:37

Torrential rain again tonight , after torrential rain this afternoon and last night ☹️heavy rain forecast tomorrow as well 😭

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 08/04/2024 23:37

We had a picnic on the beach today, even though in coats etc

Mind you I do have a cold and am fat but we did get outside 😂

We are on the south coast at the moment though (with family) but I live in SE, so might not be representative of whole UK - friend in Scotland sent me a photo of her having tea outside in the sunshine too!

Sixtygoingonthirty · 08/04/2024 23:37

Completely agree OP. Those saying you can get out for a walk …. How about those who
work outside and it’s affecting their business? My friend’s husband is a self employed gardener and they’re really struggling ….. so many customers cancelling or don’t want him starting up yet as it’s too wet to cut the grass etc. they’re finding it really hard financially. Our business is based outside and although we’re still going it’s bloody hard work trying to store materials in the wet, trawling through mud, vehicles getting stuck in etc. Washing’s not getting put out on the line …. The few days I did I came home from work to find it had been soaked through from an unexpected heavy shower . I’m healthy but I’m totally pissed off with it. Yes, we’ve had the odd good day, but very few days that have been dry all day and looking at the weather forecast I can’t actually see a brighter future ahead anywhere soon (pun fully intended)!

Pleasemakeitcorrect · 08/04/2024 23:38

Thanks to all who voted for brexit I can't move to spain now. Another thing to add to the shit country with shit weather

Are they taking the actual piss? Shock How can there be a water shortage when it's rained for 170 of the past 183 days?!

Because the UK won’t build reservoirs. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-64333455

How a proposed reservoir might look like

Abingdon reservoir: Oxfordshire County Council criticises 'baffling' plans

The reservoir would be located between East Hanney and Drayton, near Abingdon.

Ah! He/she looks a doppelgänger for my whippet! He has that very sad look 99% of the time, so it’s hard to tell if the rain makes him sadder…..

Whippets are very good at ''Sad/affronted looks'' as they know it brings treats and hugs.
It's a ruse!
They are actually happy inside but just have resting bitch faces.
''Is that a treat packet I hear?''

Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.
