My neighbour came on to my property whilst I was away and put poison to stop bugs going to their property. I’m furious as I have pets. My husband thinks I’m overreacting. Aibu?

Do you have proof they came onto your property and planted poison?

Is DH usually blase or is the neighbour someone he’s afraid of?

In my opinion neighbour is wrong even if you didn’t have pets, who’s to say a friend won’t pop over with their puppy or child and go out in the garden.

AssassinsEyebrow · 07/04/2024 20:26

If you have proof, take it to the police

Yoe · 07/04/2024 20:27

No you r not the bloody cheek of her …. Honestly she could have killed or seriously injured one of your pets . I’d be over to rage on her asap and I wouldn’t care like she didn’t give a dam about u or ur pets p

HelloMiss · 07/04/2024 20:28

If it's that common it's not going to be outing is it?

what Have you done to prevent them going into their house

It’s a common bug that lives in everyone’s garden. It’s not for me to stop them entering anyone’s home. If they enter my home however as they do from time to time I deal with it in my home. I wouldn’t dream of going into someone else’s property to scatter poison around without asking

OP posts:
EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 07/04/2024 20:39

Is it a bug that’s likely to devalue their home? I’m trying to think if it’s one of those situations where they will try to claim they had a right to access your property to protect theirs.

ZekeZeke · 07/04/2024 20:40

I understand you can see this on your camera but did the neighbour tell you that they put poison down?
Did they tell your DH that they put poison down?
If not, I would drop over to them. Hi Mary, why did you put poison on my property, you know we have insert animals names. This poison could have made them very ill
Stay silent and let them squirm.

It can't be that common of people will be able to identify you personally if you say what they are 😁

MidnightPatrol · 07/04/2024 20:40

When you say ‘on to your property’…

… do you mean they climbed over the fence into a secure area, or in front of the house / drive?

Yes it’s a bit weird, have you asked them about?

Yes I messaged them and yes they said that is what they did

What is the bug? It's not 'outing' at all!

Daffodilsarentfluffy · 07/04/2024 20:43

Once my nd threatened to poison my dcats.. Police went round. Given your pets could be killed of course you ring the police.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 07/04/2024 20:44

Was the "bugs killer" pet friendly as i recall seeing an advert?

ZekeZeke · 07/04/2024 20:45

Saffy118 · 07/04/2024 20:41

I would respond *Mary. What you did is not only dangerous to our pets but it's illegal, you trespassed on our property.
We are dealing with the insert insect ourselves, don't ever put poison on our property again.

Is it a police matter? What’s the crime?

Bumblebeeinatree · 07/04/2024 20:50

Was it wasps or what? I f you were away and wasps were every where I sort of understand, although I would have waited until you got back.

Saffy118 · 07/04/2024 20:50

They are otherwise good neighbours that’s why I’m so surprised. What goes through someone’s head that they think it’s ok to do that without asking.

OP posts:
Jc2001 · 07/04/2024 20:53

Have they spoken to you about the pest problem before this happened?
