Reporting someone about having no TV LIcence?

WhiteDragon66 · 06/04/2024 21:39

At the moment I am living in an HMO. I have lived here for coming up to three years now.
I have a licence. However I have noticed that two of the residents within the household have been receiving letters from TV LIcensing for quite a long time now.
There are six of us all together living here. I think that I am the only one who is licensed though?
Would I be right in reporting just these two individuals, do you think, or should I just simply ignore this??
Any feedback would be really very helpful. Thank you.

Just ignore it.

Canonlythinkofthisone · 06/04/2024 21:40

How do you know they watch live TV?
Why/How does it impact you?

XenoBitch · 06/04/2024 21:41

How does it affect you?

TV license fee is a farce. It costs more than Netflix, with shittier content.

LadyKenya · 06/04/2024 21:41

Why do you want feedback for. Will it influence your decision?

Freetodowhatiwant · 06/04/2024 21:41

I can't imagine anyone ever thinking about reporting someone for this. Just ignore it.

Okayornot · 06/04/2024 21:41

Why would you report them? You are not at risk if you don't.

Jf20 · 06/04/2024 21:42

Why would you do this? Do you not like them?

VisitationRights · 06/04/2024 21:43

How does it impact you at all? Your license fee doesn’t go up or down based on their payment or non payment. Your use neither improves nor worsens. Will it make you feel superior to report them?

EveryoneJapan · 06/04/2024 21:44

Ignore it completely.

TheMuskratOfDestiny · 06/04/2024 21:44

Snitches get stitches

bellezarara · 06/04/2024 21:44

No, don’t report them. Women are already disproportionately targeted for legal action for license fee evasion, don’t add to the sexism.

BobnLen · 06/04/2024 21:44

How would you know what they were watching or do you have a cup to the door listening for the Eastenders theme tune, it won't affect you anyway as you have your licence

OneCornetto · 06/04/2024 21:44

You don't have to have a tv licence. Mine was due in January and we've decided not to renew it for six months as the only live tv we watched was BBC breakfast.

Then we will catch up on any programmes we want to watch on the bbc when we renew it.

Bakersdozens · 06/04/2024 21:44

nothing to do with you

betterangels · 06/04/2024 21:45

Just why. Ignore.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 06/04/2024 21:45

I'm normally on the side of doing everything right but TV Licence, nope, I wouldn't report. I have mine but hate having to pay it but not bra e enough not to.

I happily shared one as a household in my shared house.

TV Licencing were ripping the piss in halls expecting us to have a licence each when we had a shared kitchen and therefore weren't self contained individual households.

No I wouldn't go around grassing people up, and it's not worth the risk of damage to household relationships to do it.

Louise0808 · 06/04/2024 21:46

Unless they watch or record live TV they don't need one. I havent had one for coming up 2 years now. Ignore it.

DianaTaverner · 06/04/2024 21:46

I don't get your logic. If they're getting constant letters from TV licensing then by definition TV Licensing already knows that they don't have a licence. They don't need to be told.

Spoonthief · 06/04/2024 21:47

How would reporting them to the disgustingly rich BBC improve your life ?
Do you think you’ll get brownie points or something ?

Just move on.
Nothing to do with you !

It is an immoral tax on poor people. Ignore it.

But so many 'poor' people will happily pay for Netflix or Sky Sports' or AppleTV?'

TheHateIsNotGood · 06/04/2024 21:49

And yet again MN surprises me - I thought every barrel of outrage had already been scraped, but OP has actually come up with a new one - so congrats for creativity OP - even if you actually do mean it.
