Bit of a lame expression but I’m looking to buy new clothes that are practical for school run, park etc but easy to throw on together (ie not buying in outfits) and not too slobby/hideous. Just interested to see what everyone else wears, at 32 I’m too old for teen fashion but not ready for Next/Boden yet 😂

Old skinny jeans as ironically they are the only thing that fits my postpartum body.
trainers I bought two years ago, as 300€ + a year is spent on tiny trainers/boots which are scuffed within days of wear.
recently I’ve been accessorising with a newborn baby strapped to my chest, très chic!

Mouse82 · 06/04/2024 05:20

I'm 42 and my go to is black skinny jeans, band shirts and vans.

TheGlitterFairy · 06/04/2024 07:10

45 and typically skinny jeans, white trainers or Chelsea boots plus Breton top/ jumper or normal top or dress and tights / boots in winter and dress and sandals in summer. Also in summer denim shorts, vest top and sandals.

violetcuriosity · 06/04/2024 07:35

Black leggings, converse and an oversized sweatshirt or fleece. Sometimes high waisted mom jeans with a knit and bomber jacket. Not really a huge fan of my middle since c-section number 2.

Active wear is what I live in

Noooo. Terrible

Tescovalu · 06/04/2024 07:36

Word of advice

never abandon a waistband

violetcuriosity · 06/04/2024 07:37

@Blessedbethefruitz omg I bought 2 pairs of these after I had my baby last year and I'm still wearing them almost daily. So cheap and comfy. Might buy some more later 😂

Elephantswillnever · 06/04/2024 07:39

I wear dark jeans, leather converse, long sleeve t, then depending on weather a jumper and a Didrikson.

Whatsnormalhere · 06/04/2024 07:44

Adanola leggings & a plain long sleeve (H&M) or an adanola jumper

Slim jeans with a plain long sleeve

trainers - adidas gazelles

I’ve learnt that plainer clothes are better for everyday and much easier to throw on

MysweetAudrina · 06/04/2024 07:46

I live in sweaty Betty all day leggings or lululemon aligns and usually a vest top, arc 4 cropped fleece and either crocs with socks or Air Force 1's. I wear my socks pulled up over my leggings. I'm 50 though and do a lot of yoga.

Lwrenn · 06/04/2024 08:07

Fuelledbylatte · 05/04/2024 20:40

Comfies!

Jogging bottoms (tapered, various colours) trainers cropped tshirt body warmer

Leggings / gym wear if going to gym

Jeans and top if no coat required

Dresses when weather says I can (toast / nobody's child)

I thought this may make you smile - I'm dyslexic and for about 3 minutes was stuck on your post thinking to myself, "brave lass but why not just wear a top instead of a coat?" Because I had read it you just went topless under your coat 🤣🙈

greglet · 06/04/2024 08:08

Jeans - either skinny or baggy
If skinny then a baggy T-shirt (I like Markus Lupfer); if baggy then a fitted vest top (Zadig & Voltaire or All Saints)
Oversized jumper or sweatshirt
Leather jacket
Doc Marten's Leonore boots (with skinny jeans) or chunky white trainers (with baggy jeans)

awakeatnightmare · 06/04/2024 08:24

Next Jean leggings are SO comfortable and practical. Interested in this thread though as could have written it myself!

Kalodi · 06/04/2024 08:29

Wide legged or barrel jeans, breastfeeding friendly vest and then a cardigan, sweater or wasitcoast with trainers or boots.

Had quite a few compliments lately so hope they're genuine and I'm doing something right 😂

Snap! We are even the same age 🙃 I sometimes switch the jeans for denim shorts in the summer

Queijo · 06/04/2024 09:03

Chinos/jeans with a T-shirt and oversized denim jacket when it’s warm-ish, big Barbour when it’s cold.

Summer dress, denim jacket and trainers or sandals when it’s hot.

jengachampion · 06/04/2024 09:29

Same age as you..I wear H&M, & other stories, whistles/reiss (in the sale). Jeans, leggings or yoga pants, a top, a big coat in winter or long wool trench coat in autumn/spring.

happytobemrsg · 06/04/2024 09:38

Long denim skirt or wide leg trousers with boxy jumper/tshirt. Worn with laced up biker boots or trainers. I haven’t worn actual jeans for years!

OolongTeaDrinker · 06/04/2024 09:42

Sweaty Betty leggings, usually in random colours as I only buy the ones on sale, with either an over-sized jumper or in summer a loose t-shirt with trainers. SB leggings are a bit of a mum cliche on the school run where I live, but I find them so comfy and love the pockets. I did try Lucy Locket leggings with the pockets too, but they washed terribly and looked old and faded very quickly.

You dont say your budget but here are my go to

  • zara: this spring collection has some great classics
  • mint velvet
  • sweaty beaty: they do last (i m not a lululemon kinda woman)
  • Reiss for a bit of luxury feel but comfy knitwear
Firsttimetrier · 06/04/2024 10:06

My mum uniform would be black sports leggings, white Nike sports socks, trainers and an oversized jumper if I’m going for a casual look.

For something smarter, I go for wide legged trousers/Mom jeans with a t-shirt and then cardigan thrown over and then trainers.

Hopefully allowed to post, but this is my go to style inspo place!

We walk to school about 30 minutes (& in Ireland so all weather) but I usually wear jeans, trainers & a sweatshirt or hoodie with my rain jacket. I do wear joggers on some days, very rarely I wear leggings though lots of the moms do (I'm just not comfortable really in leggings don't know why).

jeaux90 · 06/04/2024 10:22

Winter, "vegan leather" joggers have them in several colours. Suzy D you can dress them up and down. With V neck Uniglo merino sweater. Fitted Barbour jacket. Wedge Uggs or smart trainers.

Summer straight cut linen trousers, or the "engineered" cut joggers. T shirt , fitted denim jacket/fitted khaki jacket trainers/birkenstocks.

TheFormidableMrsC · 05/04/2024 18:49

I really like Suzy D Ultimate Joggers. I've got loads of different colours and they are really versatile. I have bought a few on Vinted for much less than retail. For brands I like Lucy Dodwell, Eleven Loves, Disko Kids. Again, I source much cheaper bargains on Vinted.

Ooh snap just posted about the "vegan leather" ones...absolutely love them
