To take the air fryer on holiday?

The idea just came to me this morning when I woke up. We’re going on a weekend break tomorrow. We will eat out most of the time, but I thought it could be useful for lunches/ snacks in particular. Maybe also for dinner when we arrive, as we probably won’t be bothered to go out anywhere after the drive.

It might help keep the cost down and make it a bit healthier.

I’m not sure if they’d have rules about this but I could always hide it in a cupboard or something. They don’t produce anY smoke or steam so I can’t see it being a problem with the fire alarm.

Has anyone else done this? Hmm

Not an air fryer, but last year I took the soda stream and bottles, syrup etc down to a house boat we were staying on, so I didn't have to buy bottles of water and pop. 😂

They already had a good coffee machine, but just a broom and pan to clean up the dog dust, sand and crumbs, so I also wished I'd brought my Dyson to have a quick whizz round and keep the bits off our feet!

Why not take the air fryer!? Quicker and easier to clean than the grill pan!

I do pack the (cordless) Dyson whenever we go away with the dogs, keeps on top of the hair and I don’t think it would be fair to leave it all for the cleaners.. after a week it would be excessive 😬

No not to a hotel I took it to the chalet at butlins 🤣🤣 made us all a lovely little roast beef dinner and it was smashing ☺️☺️

And to think I felt embarrassed that I took teabags to Paris once.

I take tea bags with me these days. There are no decent black teas in European hotels, only herbal teas and coffee.

I wouldn’t take it on holiday, I’d just give it two weeks off in the summer, then it can decide where it goes itself.

I'd go for it - just me and the air fryer, long weekend by the sea.
The rest of the family can sort themselves out.

No not to a hotel room only if it was self catering accommodation

jwilson22 · 06/04/2024 01:13

Stop the world I want to get off 🤦‍♂️

I’m sure they would have rules about this. Would people have taken a microwave in the past?

My sister does. Even has it's own suitcase on wheels 😂

ChalkItDownToExperience · 06/04/2024 04:27

I smuggled a microwave into a hotel I was staying in once, but it was due to pure necessity as I couldn't afford to eat out every day and I was staying for four months due to a house mov e! I used to have to blast the tv up to 60 to cover the sound of the ping! good times! But an air fryer for 2 nights, nope that's just madness 😂

I take my coffee machine!

We do too! My DP says life is too short to drink s**t coffee!
Also considering taking the airfryer next time we go away.

RampantIvy · 06/04/2024 09:31

We take coffee bags and tea bags with us. I'm not lugging large gadgets around as we have enough stuff to carry with DH's CPAP machine and other medical stuff.

I was genuinely picturing how you'd get this through airport security until it occurred to me you meant a domestic break 😂

We took a nutri ninja blender in hand luggage (by mistake meant to pack in hold) I was suprised they let us with the blade to and from Greece. I was obsessed by green juicing at the time

Haha, that’s exactly what I say. I don’t drink alcohol or anything so coffee is something I really look forward to. I’d hate having ‘substandard’ coffee for a fortnight.

We eat out most nights so I don’t know if it would be worth it to take the air fryer. I do take a panini press though for toasties for lunches.😂

Redpaisley · 05/04/2024 17:57

😂
I hope you are joking.

I thought they were joking tbh. A few people have asked custardslice, but they haven't replied.

This is all bringing to mind some modern day Fawlty Towers scenes for me.

<gets on phone to BBC to pitch idea>

Clarabellasingsthisbit · 06/04/2024 10:44

I take my Drew &Cole Multi -Chef when we go for our week-long self-catering holidays. It's compact and has a carry-handle and it doesn't take up a lot of space in the car.I can provide a meal for 5 of us without too much fuss during the times when we're eating in.

We take toasted sandwich bags with us when we go self catering- easy lunches!

bumblechops · 26/04/2024 17:17

I cant see a problem with this question, whether it's a weekend or a week some people don't have the money to go to restaurants and takeaways all the time.
I can understand why a hotel may not allow this but hey, why not just ring them and ask? Saves any trouble or embarrassment later. Good luck with it, I hope they allow but stay safe 😉

bumblechops · 26/04/2024 17:23

Depends if you can afford it
