To take the air fryer on holiday?

The idea just came to me this morning when I woke up. We’re going on a weekend break tomorrow. We will eat out most of the time, but I thought it could be useful for lunches/ snacks in particular. Maybe also for dinner when we arrive, as we probably won’t be bothered to go out anywhere after the drive.

It might help keep the cost down and make it a bit healthier.

I’m not sure if they’d have rules about this but I could always hide it in a cupboard or something. They don’t produce anY smoke or steam so I can’t see it being a problem with the fire alarm.

Has anyone else done this? Hmm

I take my rice cooker.

EveryoneJapan · 04/04/2024 08:53

I wouldn’t take it on holiday, I’d just give it two weeks off in the summer, then it can decide where it goes itself.

Mercurial123 · 04/04/2024 08:53

I've never done it, but I definitely would. I love my air fryer.

Whatineed · 04/04/2024 08:55

Not an air fryer, but last year I took the soda stream and bottles, syrup etc down to a house boat we were staying on, so I didn't have to buy bottles of water and pop. 😂

They already had a good coffee machine, but just a broom and pan to clean up the dog dust, sand and crumbs, so I also wished I'd brought my Dyson to have a quick whizz round and keep the bits off our feet!

Why not take the air fryer!? Quicker and easier to clean than the grill pan!

This is amazing

Friend of mine sometimes takes her slow cooker. It's great for budget breaks, makes food cheap and easy and can be the difference between being able to afford to get away or not for them. Means they can put it on in the morning, go out for the day, taking a picnic or pick up a supermarket meal deal and come home to a hot meal like chilli in the evening.

BeretRaspberry · 04/04/2024 08:56

I take my coffee machine!

itsallabitofamystery · 04/04/2024 08:56

I knocked out an amazing roast at my caravan site on Sunday thanks to my air fryer! Then on Sunday night I drunk-cooked - basically everything left in the fridge got cooked in the air fryer and we all dined on garlic bread, pizza, chips, you name it - we were in frozen shite drunken heaven.

Take it.

B1anche · 04/04/2024 08:57

Definitely, if you've got space in the car, take it! That is the joy of taking holidays in the UK.

Hoplittlebunnyhophophopandstop · 04/04/2024 08:58

Are you staying in a self catering place or a hotel?

VestibuleVirgin · 04/04/2024 09:00

For a weekend break?
Dear lord

Bjorkdidit · 04/04/2024 09:01

But back to the OPs question, are you staying in a hotel, so no cooking facilities?

I suppose it's better than people doing weird things with the kettle that you read about......

this is brilliant

MrsMitford3 · 04/04/2024 09:04

I have taken my nespresso machine.

But we always check to make sure she is happy with the plans 😉

C1N1C · 04/04/2024 09:05

Tell your boyfriend/husband it will take his seat on the plane.

Wish I could... far less temperamental, and makes better food :)

RoxyMoosic · 04/04/2024 09:07

@Bjorkdidit

yes, we’re staying in a hotel.

I’m sure they would have rules about this. Would people have taken a microwave in the past?

B1anche · 04/04/2024 09:10

RoxyMoosic · 04/04/2024 09:07

@Bjorkdidit

yes, we’re staying in a hotel.

Actually I wouldn't if staying in a hotel. Only if in a cottage or caravan etc.

Mumdiva99 · 04/04/2024 09:11

No. Not to a hotel. You can't cook in a hotel room.
Yes to self catering accommodation.

Alwaystired23 · 04/04/2024 09:12

Honestly, I wouldn't take it to a hotel for a weekend break. To a self-catering place for a week, probably yes. I don't have one, maybe I should, I've heard good things.

Hopingtobe4 · 04/04/2024 09:14

I don't know about a hotel room. I've taken slow cooker to a caravan loads of times but not a hotel room...

MrsMurphyIWish · 04/04/2024 09:14

Not in a hotel - caravan/cottage I would. The B and B I stayed in last weekend stipulated that hot food couldn’t even be taken into the room and we would be fined for doing so I advise to check your T and Cs.

JustMarriedBecca · 04/04/2024 09:15

Not to a hotel as the increase in temperature sets off the alarm. See also toaster.
Camping fridges are fine with milk for cereal and snacks for lunch (also beers)

Self catering yes and I am

Tahinii · 04/04/2024 09:17

Nooooooo not a hotel. You’ll set off the fire alarm.
