To want every woman in England to vote Tory at the GE

Hurrydash · 29/03/2024 18:00

Wow. I started a thread with 1000 posts on a topic in 12 hours and Mumsnet got ‘full’

One more off the bucket list!

So MN told me to start a new thread if I wanted to post anything else. I didn’t particularly but there were some queries raised in the first thread.

Thank you to all first thread posters, even the small minority who were abusive to me and/or my opinions. Coherent arguments may have been more persuasive.

I have read many posts, but not all. I do have work to do!

In answer to some queries:

Yes I was drunk - explains GR typo in the first title not GE. Although that could well have been a Freudian slip too.

I am English living in England.

I’m not an entitled git living in a Stately home eating cucumber sandwiches. Like most I have been hit very hard by mortgage rate and utility price rises.

I restricted my request to English voters because I don’t understand other UK countries voter motivations.

a) Scotland has voted in a party which in my opinion is morally bankrupt (maybe financially too?) and totally incompetent.

b) Wales has elected a party which means when they go for a drive they’ll likely be overtaken by cyclists - maybe very fit joggers too

c) I genuinely don’t understand Northern Ireland politics. Didn’t even know there were no Tories there till reading it on one of the posts.

Totally get why so many won’t vote Tory, but for me freedom of speech is a die in a ditch issue.

Here’s what Angela Eagle is reported to have said will be in the Labour manifesto:

“• Strengthening the law so anti-LGBT+ hate crimes are treated as aggravated offenses”

For this I read anyone stating biological facts risks being banged up. JKR no doubt top of their hit list.

So give me another option to stop this madness other than vote Tory.

If all posters on the first thread had said they weren’t going to vote Labour due to their threat to women’s rights maybe Labour would have paused for thought about their policies. But seems very many women will vote Labour anyway so they don’t have to worry.

Very very happy to vote Labour and kick the Tories out if they will commit unequivocally to protect women’s rights, parents rights and freedom of speech. Otherwise not a chance.

Im a British ethnic minority and I will not be voting Tory. OP can you seriously not see it from other people's POV?

She really can't. Hundreds and hundreds of posts on her last thread explained very clearly the many and varied ways in which this shower of absolute bastards have been royally fucking over women and other vulnerable groups for the last 14 years. She doesn't give a shit because "at least they know what a woman is".

Starlightstarbright3 · 29/03/2024 18:40

I mean tidied got the vote last time ( not mine ) based on the fact they were going to level the playing fields north / south divide . The richer are richer - poor poorer .

Private healthcare is expanding - the nhs crumbling , education teachers are leaving in there droves .

councils going bankrupt - services cut - council tax rising.

disabled - don’t even know where to begin .
The level of backhanders over Covid that have come to light .

we have a female mp . She doesn’t give a fuck about children / disabled .. in fact not sure of anything she cares about .

Anything not clear which way I will vote ?

SunnyCoco · 29/03/2024 18:40

Jesus Christ
The state of the country after 14 years of Tory rule
Not a CHANCE would I vote for those selfish, greedy, morally bankrupt, heartless, inhumane bunch of cunts

11NigelTufnel · 29/03/2024 18:42

Nah, I won't be voting for the arseholes who have presided over such delights as

  • Warehousing of disabled people.
  • Leaving elderly people lying broken for hours to days after falls, with no ambulances available.
  • Cutting education budgets so much that there is no additional support for those who need it. They in turn disrupt everyone else due to their unmet needs.
  • Designed forms where women have to declare that they have been raped to qualify for benefits.
  • Have a major issue with sexual assault and covering it up within their own offices.

In the words of the wonderful Grace Petrie, who is very inclusive of all genders, "I just want the tories to fuck off".

pointythings · 29/03/2024 18:45

Fuck no. I have two disabled children. I work in mental health and so I see the state of the NHS every day. The roads round my way are a dangerous disgrace, and my council can't afford to run support for older people.

Fuck the Tories and anyone who still votes for them.

blondieminx · 29/03/2024 18:12

exactly this. Staying up on election night to watch all the portillo moments 😁

Sadly there won't be many Portillo moments as every prominent Tory who thinks they're going to lose their seat has already indicated they're going to stand down rather than face the humiliation of getting voted out.

countrygirl99 · 29/03/2024 18:47

Let's face it. The dire state of social care has a far bigger impact on women. And they said they had a policy to sort that at tgd last election. That's how much their words mean - bugger all.

KnickerlessParsons · 29/03/2024 18:47

The Tories hate women way more than any other party

The Tories have had three women leaders/prime ministers, which is more than any other country I can think of.

Edited

Truss will still standing , too daft to see what's coming .

Yodel294 · 29/03/2024 18:49

The Tories have completely destroyed this country over the last 14 years. The British people haven't been this poor, this sick or this depressed within living memory, and democratic norms have never been so debased. I'm ashamed to say I voted for Cameron in 2010 but not since, and no, I won't be voting for them this time, or ever again.

Is this why you are voting Tory?

Both MPs who blocked upskirting bill have now been knighted for 'services to public life'

A cross-party bill to make the taking of photos up women's skirts a criminal offence was 'talked out' by Philip Davies and Christopher Chope.

BIWI · 29/03/2024 18:53

I simply can't understand anyone who would happily say they're going to vote Tory at the next election. They must be totally morally bankrupt, utterly selfish and callous. Can they not see what a shower of selfish, immoral and corrupt shits the Tories are?

I despise them.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 29/03/2024 18:54

They’re fucked for the foreseeable. They’ve filled their boots, enriched their chums at our expense and lied to us. They have removed many of our rights and have shat on us - literally. They have lowered the standard of conduct in parliament. Johnson and his frightful wife are still on holiday, payed for by one of his rich pals, Truss has aligned herself with the loony far right in America. Sunak seems to view being PM as a bit of a laugh or a sort of hobby. The country will not forgive them come the next election.

LoobyDop · 29/03/2024 18:55

Gender and trans are not the only issues in town. I sympathise with your frustration with Labour, but we desperately need a new government that can offer some hope.

BestIsWest · 29/03/2024 18:56

Cross post @JessS1990

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 29/03/2024 18:57

Still forgetting about the rest of the UK then?

tinytemper66 · 29/03/2024 18:57

They just gave knighthoods to 2 men who voted against outlawing upskirting. Nice!

Iwant2move · 29/03/2024 18:58

Nope.

Ellie525 · 29/03/2024 18:59

Would rather shit in my hands a thousand times and clap than vote Tory. Hope you aren't relying on any public services now or in future if you're gunna vote them in again

bloom19 · 29/03/2024 18:59

Did you have a typo in your thread and missed "not" ?

Clingfilm · 29/03/2024 19:01

Give it a rest Nadine...
The Tories have shafted the whole fucking country and made a mockery of the parliamentary system.
In short, no chance, never.

pointythings · 29/03/2024 19:01

It's great to see this thread going about as well for OP as the last one.
Learn this, OP. Women aren't stupid. Women aren't blinkered. Women don't look at a single issue, they look at the whole picture.

Women know the Tories are not their friends.

WhoaJayShettybambalam · 29/03/2024 19:01

Voting Tory would be the first sign that something was seriously wrong with me or that I’m being forced by kidnappers to vote. Anyone that knows me would spot it quickly. I couldn’t vote for them even if you paid me.

No thank you.
