To want every women in England to vote Tory at the GR

1000 replies

Hurrydash · 28/03/2024 02:01

So I don't agree with Angela Rayner's description of the Tories as scum, but I get her drift and if she'd been more tempered in her language I probably would have bought in.

HOWEVER

For me - and actually should be got everyone - the only real issue at the next GE is freedom of speech/women's rights.

I see Labour as the destroyer of these and so must vote against them. The only meaningful way to do this is to vote Tory which I am reluctant but prepared to do.

Is this unreasonable?

Happy to be convinced - for real not just words - if there is evidence Labour (Starmer 1 in 1000 women have a dick) may see the light before the GE.

I completely agree with you. I don’t like the Tories but they are more reliable on the trans issue. Under a Tory government I may be cold and hungry but at least I can go to the toilet without being flashed!

You know that there are non-gender specific bathrooms at the moment right? What would be different?

Morechocmorechoc · 28/03/2024 07:05

Wow people are so naive if they think labour will be better. Labour are the ones that lost us all our gold. They broke the country. We will be destroyed when they get in. Tories are crap too. Time for real change. Pick someone else!

PermanentTemporary · 28/03/2024 07:05

Nope.

I don't forget that not very long ago a British two year old died due to mould in his house. I remember past eras of private affluence and public squalor, we have it again and I WON'T vote to live like this. It's shameful.

Once we have a Labour government I will fight for things that matter to me, and yes that includes accurate language and statistics.

"They broke the country"

Funny because all of the issues I mentioned, food bank use etc., have rocketed under the tories.

Just England?
What about the rest of the UK?
As it is I will never vote Conservative, ever.

ThinWomansBrain · 28/03/2024 07:06

fuck off

no wonder you disabled voting

Ruminate2much · 28/03/2024 07:06

I'd rather eat my own foot that vote Tory!
There are so many issues - re women, and in general.
Climate change is the issue that concerns me most. I'll be voting for The Green Party. I just wish we had PR , so it actually wasn't wasted.

Do the hamlets have polling stations?

Underthinker · 28/03/2024 07:07

@Lex345 it's a complicated picture. There are politicians in both main parties on either side of the debate. Currently on balance it looks like the Tory leadership is more on the women's rights side and Labour's is more on the gender ideology side. This could flip if Mordaunt became next Tory leader, although Badenoch is still favorite which would widen the split.

Obviously you're right to say this isn't the only issue to consider, but for me because Labour and Conservatives are closer on economic and other policies than they've been at previous elections I no longer have a strong urge to vote Labour for those wider policy reasons.

hackedoff123 · 28/03/2024 07:07

Please can you explain how you think the Tories are in support of women? Genuinely interested

Theblacktulip · 28/03/2024 07:09

I am really concerned about what is going to happen to women's rights and children if Labour get in. I have never been so fearful about a change of government before.

I hope the Conservatives change "leader" soon (is Kemi Badenoch capable?).

The tories don't support women.

They support an ideology that appeals to people who are right wing. If they supported women, maternity pay would be better. The economy wouldn't be so bad. They would tackle crime against women and girls. They couldn't care less about women.

Yes but there are also female-only spaces that will no longer remain protected if Labour get in with their self-ID madness. This really is one of those totemic issues. It’s reasonable to vote with this is mind without being accused of being comfortable about cuts to the NHS or whatever. I don’t like the Tories but I will hold my nose and vote for them at the next GE.

Deathraystare · 28/03/2024 07:10

@Pixit ·
Nobody is on the side of women and they never have been. But the country is in the absolute shitter under tories.

Absa fucking lutely!

Not sure if I will vote - feel bad if I don't re the suffragettes fighting for the vote but I normally vote labour. Never for the head honchos but my local guy is very good.

concernedchild · 28/03/2024 07:10

@CaterhamReconstituted if you're doing that then you support them. It's that simple. How can you hold your nose as children starve and die?! You don't care about women and children at all.

Deathraystare · 28/03/2024 07:11

However it certainly rankles that the head honcho thinks some women have dicks!!!

Read that back and reflect on whether that is a measured thing to have written. Sometimes voting is tactical. Sometimes you vote for the least worst option. You only have the choices in front of you that you have. Not caring about starving children? Give your head a wobble.

PonyPatter44 · 28/03/2024 07:14

Hahahaha no. The Tories have presided over the whole,TWAW / mutilating children / destruction of safeguarding business- why would I trust them to put it right?

Oldermum84 · 28/03/2024 07:14

YABVVVU.

concernedchild · 28/03/2024 07:15

@CaterhamReconstituted you're voting for the party who has caused this mess. You're supporting them over a tiny issue. You are actively supporting a party who allows children to starve. Maybe think about that?

RainStreakedWindows · 28/03/2024 07:15

@CaterhamReconstituted unfair to say you don't care about starving children. Fair to say you care about them less than gender ideology. To me you are on the wrong side of the line.

Angelsrose · 28/03/2024 07:16

I can't vote for either of the main parties because I think both are incredibly flawed. However I strongly feel that everything has been much worse under the Tories and they have destroyed the country in every conceivable way. A vote for them, in my opinion is a vote for further destruction in a way that will be so terrible that the issue of sex / gender will be the very least of our issues. We'll all just be scrambling to survive on a day to day basis.

concernedchild · 28/03/2024 07:16

If they're happily voting for the party who has caused it, they don't care. Not sorry about saying that.

Barleypilaf · 28/03/2024 07:16

There have been five Tory PMs since 2016. The next Tory PM may well be TWAW, Penny Mordaunt. Vote Tory and you have no idea who you are getting.

Lokipokey1 · 28/03/2024 07:16

The Tories have taken away our right enshrined in law to safe abortions as it no longer comes under the EU, but they’ve not replaced it with anything. Surestart centres, which were a massive help for women, especially those in poverty, have gone. Inequality and poverty, caused by years of cuts and underfunding make women more vulnerable than men. Lack of SEND funding disproportionately affects the mothers having to stay home as there is not a school place for their child. These are just a few pointers as to why I, as a feminist, could not bring myself to vote tory.
