To want every women in England to vote Tory at the GR

Hurrydash · 28/03/2024 02:01

So I don't agree with Angela Rayner's description of the Tories as scum, but I get her drift and if she'd been more tempered in her language I probably would have bought in.

HOWEVER

For me - and actually should be got everyone - the only real issue at the next GE is freedom of speech/women's rights.

I see Labour as the destroyer of these and so must vote against them. The only meaningful way to do this is to vote Tory which I am reluctant but prepared to do.

Is this unreasonable?

Happy to be convinced - for real not just words - if there is evidence Labour (Starmer 1 in 1000 women have a dick) may see the light before the GE.

The gradual erosion of women's rights and free speech
The lack of support available to DV victims
Poor maternity services
Social care cut to the bone
High cost of childcare and lack of childcare places
Highest taxation in decades
House prices out of control, ditto private rents
People having to claim benefits even though they are working full-time, because they just don't earn enough to live on

All this (and much more), under a Tory government. Tell me again why I should vote for more of this.

It’s a tongue in cheek one. I’m Scottish.

Rightio, I was more interested in what @Hurrydash had to say tbh.

Attictroll · 28/03/2024 08:19

Gender is a important issue but the policies of the Tory's have ruined real life for more real women and we can't go on like this...

Tbh I am really worried about who I can realistically vote for no party represents my views and I can't see a plan from anyone to get us out of this sh1t!

All this nonsense is LITERALLY happening under the Tories watch. They’ve been in power for the last 14 years - they created the conditions for this mess. The only reason they ‘know what a woman is’ is to fuck them over even more. They are not fighting against the claptrap - they are creating the claptrap. They’re not some innocent bystander clutching their pearls - It’s their laws under their watch. They are culpable.

Exactly this. How have you somehow not noticed that the Tories have been presiding over the current mess?

Not that I believe Labour will be better. But in what universe does voting for more of the same seem a great plan?

Because they don't like trans people!!! Therefore everything else can be ignored!!!

People just don't like to hear the truth

I too am deeply concerned at the possibility of a Labour government. If you read a little into this 'gender' and 'queer theory' they are promoting, it will mean the destruction of the traditional family and removing women's rights.
I'm not voting Labour.

The destruction of the traditional family? Removal of women's rights?

Proof that Labour is planning this @Toseland ?

PrinnyPree · 28/03/2024 08:20

Not a fan of Labour but people are fucking dying OP because of the Tory's. What a fucking privileged life some of you lot must lead to throw poverty stricken mothers on the pyre for the sake of this non fucking issue that isn't going to take our rights away in the slightest. Fucksake.

I can't believe any of you are feminists who would vote Tory. It makes me physically sick how much poor women are suffering and you would vote for this to continue for the sake of this fucking transphobic bullshit dressed as womens rights. Arg.

Brightandbubly · 28/03/2024 08:21

Women will be giving birth in woods if we have more Tory leadership

Relaxd · 28/03/2024 08:21

Wow, astounded that someone would base their vote on only one policy. Sure it’s a thing that is important to many but some other pretty key policies too.

ManchesterBeatrice · 28/03/2024 08:21

No ta.

I'm also not daft enough to not have realised they had jumped on the GC bandwagon to get votes.

It's so blooming obvious.

malificent7 · 28/03/2024 08:22

What i meant to add was that Corbyn criticised Israel's stance but the Tories smeared him as anti semitic.

skippy67 · 28/03/2024 08:22

Sorry OP, but I would never ever ever vote Tory. I don't know why you think they're going to be any better for women's rights than Labour. All I've heard from them in the last few years is Stop the Boats, lower taxes, and, oh yeah, stop the boats. I don't think womens rights are a priority for them. At all.

SuperSue77 · 28/03/2024 08:22

Pixit · 28/03/2024 02:11

You want another five years of ... THIS ??! <\gestures wildly at everything> No. Fuck off.

This!!!! Couldn’t have put it better myself. Tories only support a tiny fraction of women in this country, and those ones will vote for them anyway.

Livingtothefull · 28/03/2024 08:16

Nothing, NOTHING, will induce me to vote Tory at the election. I will vote whichever way is most likely to assist in getting them out. I am ashamed of where we as a country have come to while they are in power....and still getting away with it.

Btw the introduction of photo ID as a supposed measure to deter voter impersonation (a rare or arguably non-existent issue) is a transparent ploy to disenfranchise people or deter them from voting. It is costly and will disproportionately affect certain demographics eg the poor/disabled - who may be less likely to vote Tory. So imo they introduced it primarily to attempt to skew the election in their favour. Which makes me very very angry.

Damn right they did!

That's exactly what voter ID was introduced for.

passthepenguin · 28/03/2024 07:43

The NHS will be under even greater strain if Labour gets in as massive numbers of people from all over the world (far greater than the numbers we are already seeing) will come to live here. It will put a massive strain on the nhs and housing. NHS waiting lists will go up. There will be an attempt to provide more housing by building over huge swathes of countryside which will be gone forever. And Labour will probably massively put up taxes on working families who are already struggling to pay for it all and increase tax on their inheritance. And I remember the last time they were in they wanted to bring in road charging. But hey at least it will redistribute the wealth a bit and those who have never contributed can benefit 🙄

Edited

The Tories are spending hundreds of thousands to try and send a handful of people to Rwanda. Meanwhile migration is at a record high. Climate change is going to increase the number of people seeking refuge exponentially so I don’t think any party is going to have the answers to this issue to be honest.

Some people don't seem to realise that families can come in many shapes and sizes, and that's a good thing. :)

Hyperbole but women will die, the cut in maternity services is abysmal. It's 2024. Women shouldn't be dying giving birth. It's honestly a disgrace

DarkForces · 28/03/2024 08:24

After feck knows how long under Welsh Labour I definitely won't be voting for them again and giving the state of pretty much every service they run I'm not sure how anyone thinks they're competent to be handed the keys to the treasury.

Autienotnaughtie · 28/03/2024 08:25

Absolutely not I'd sooner take my chances with labour at least I might be able to feed my children

A lot of people feel the same about what the SNP are doing in Scotland (though they blame everything on the Tories, which is only true in part).

Yes I’ll also be strategically voting to get them out. Totally agree about the photo ID. I cannot believe there’s not more exposure about this and the implications as you’ve pointed out. Just another reason to get them out imo.

Datgal · 28/03/2024 08:26

Tories are scum. When I hear Tories on the radio/TV. Honestly, the amount of lies, rubbish and utter bollocks they all spew, it actually makes me think they are all genuinely mentally unbalanced. There can't be any other reason for it. Or evil fuckers who don't give a shit about anyone. Either way they need to go.

Attictroll · 28/03/2024 08:29

I also wonder sometimes if the most vocal in the GC forums encouraging people to vote Tory are the more well off who aren't struggling with caring duties, feeding their family or putting on more jumpers to avoid crippling fuels bills despite snow

ChaosAndCrumbs · 28/03/2024 08:29

The Tories are not advocates of any rights but their own. They brought in a law that means protests can be stopped at any point for ‘making too much noise’ (without defining what this too much noise is). They will not advocate for women’s rights if they stay in power.

The country is in a complete mess. All we’ll get from them is the austerity narrative that has been proven multiple times not to be a functioning solution to financial problems.

I don’t like Starmer (politically) and he doesn’t represent me, but I’ll vote labour as normal because I don’t want the Tories in power.
