To be furious with the Joke Party?

IClaudine · 27/03/2024 09:18

Jonathan Gullis a party chair.

The ridiculous, lying, AI generated videos with the American B movie voiceover.

Blaming the sick and disabled for the state of the economy.

Meanwhile, children are going to school hungry, in dirty clothes and tired as they are living in conditions that don't enable proper sleep. The NHS is crumbling.

The Tory government is no longer a functioning government. It is a corpse, shambling towards its final demise.

AIBU to be furious and sickened and to wonder how on earth anyone could now bring themselves to vote Tory?

Gullis should have had the Whip withdrawn long ago. A failure to do that means the leadership endorse his comments.

Always amuses me how many on the left struggle to comprehend how some people might have a different perspective to them. Far more than those on the right.

Jason118 · 27/03/2024 14:35

I've always been left of centre in a right of centre world and could easily understand right of centre thinking, the logic and how it benefits those that support it. It was never enough for me to support it, but it made an arguable case. The current Conservative cannot make (and seem to refuse to make ) a case for what they want; their much trumpeted plan isn't. But Labour bad is just a primary school rewrite of but Corbyn.

It's a gross oversimplification, (so perfect for this thread) but left leaning folk tend to want better for all, whereas right leaning folk want better for themselves.

Personally I wouldn't swap a 1p tax cut for the chance of a better health service for all.

MajorConsequences · 27/03/2024 15:03

They won't win, but they don't care. The chaos they've caused can't be fixed in 5 yrs. In 4.5yrs they will be back bemoaning the state of the country under Labour, it will be - vote us in, you can trust us, we'll fix it and people will lap it up. Nothing changes.

redgreenblueyellowpink · 27/03/2024 15:11

I don't believe that's true on the whole.

They know what a woman is though.

Imagine being so obsessed with transpeople that you'll vote for anyone who also hates them, no matter what else they stand for.

I don’t like them and won’t vote for them. Sadly I’m not hopeful things will be much better under Labour. I know lots of people who will still vote Tory at the next election as they don’t like Starmer.

They are angry with the Conservative Party but not angry enough to look eksewhere

Christ, do you? Who, what demographic?! I don't know a single person planning to vote for them, not even my friends' very Tory Essex boomer parents.

Also, people need to be aware that Reform are hard-right. They are not a harmless little protest vote. They're racist cunts.

In what way is Labour "just as bad" @redgreenblueyellowpink ?

I think @KimberleyClark was being sarcastic!

Despite what you see on this site, I honestly don't think many people who wouldn't normally vote Tory will vote for them based on the "they know what a woman is" issue.

No, I won't. But I won't vote Labour because of their stance on that issue, so I guess I'll be spoiling my ballot paper.

You don't really though, do you? You just want to start a row and push your one-sided perspective.

I'd have thought your childish thread title "Joke Party" would mean anyone sensible who was considering voting Conservative wouldn't engage with you in this thread.

Anyone sensible isn’t considering voting Conservative. It would be an absolute triumph of ignoring the obvious. I’m sure someone else will have said this, but I wanted to say it too.
Go on then. Presumably from your tone you are both of those things, so what’s your opinion?

cardibach · 27/03/2024 16:32

MrsDoylesTea · 27/03/2024 12:34

I won't be sharing on this thread - like many others, I suspect. But I have my reasons.

What are the reasons? Not sharing them suggests it amounts to ‘I know it’s at best selfish and at worst stupid, but I’m doing it anyway’.

CroftonWillow · 27/03/2024 14:24

Always amuses me how many on the left struggle to comprehend how some people might have a different perspective to them. Far more than those on the right.

I know there are other perspectives. Half my degree was about political policy positions. I respect the old one nation Tories even when I disagree with them. This lot though? I don’t get it. Genuinely.
You’re wrong about the right (as it manifests in the Tories and their supporters now) being able to appreciate other perspectives too.

cardibach · 27/03/2024 16:42

CroftonWillow · 27/03/2024 15:33

I don't believe that's true on the whole.

What do you believe is true then? And how would the Tories deliver your belief (given they haven’t in 14 years, presumably).

Zonder · 27/03/2024 16:51

In the same way as you won't convince me that a vote for the talent-free front bench that is Labour won't bankrupt the country

This is interesting. I'm sure Tory voters can find plenty of reasons not to vote labour, but saying the labour front bench is talent-free is just ignorant. People may dislike Keir Starmer for example, but surely you can't deny he is a talented man? It's not easy to become a KC.

I would love to hear from people who are still going to vote Tory. Even the most die hard Tory voters seem to be turning away from them.

A lot of people on here will vote Tory because of ‘The trans!’

What would be sensible reasons to vote for the Conservatives?

I like to doff my cap to my superiors.

Nope. They're just kissing the arse of the supposed 'ant-woke brigade' for votes.

They give zero shits about women's rights.

Sadly Johnson got rid of many of that breed of Tory MP. I wonder what calibre of candidates the Tories have waiting in the wings to replace the MPs who are standing down.

Its kind of irrelevant though isn't it, because they aren't going to be MPs anyway.
