To be furious with the Joke Party?

IClaudine · 27/03/2024 09:18

Jonathan Gullis a party chair.

The ridiculous, lying, AI generated videos with the American B movie voiceover.

Blaming the sick and disabled for the state of the economy.

Meanwhile, children are going to school hungry, in dirty clothes and tired as they are living in conditions that don't enable proper sleep. The NHS is crumbling.

The Tory government is no longer a functioning government. It is a corpse, shambling towards its final demise.

AIBU to be furious and sickened and to wonder how on earth anyone could now bring themselves to vote Tory?

This guy just received a knighthood from Sunak, more examples in tweet

https://x.com/AdamBienkov/status/1773431190554390901?s=20

Conservative MP and GB News presenter Philip Davies handed a knighthood by Rishi Sunak for "public and parliamentary service".

Here's a reminder of some of that service

That's disgusting. I have lots of opinions about Philip Davies and none of them favourable. He's the MP of the constituency next to mine. I wonder if his loathsome partner will be made a Dame?

DuncinToffee · 28/03/2024 21:54

Davies blocked a law to ban upskirting, he was joined by Chope who also got a knighted.

It's a joke

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 28/03/2024 22:13

That is disgusting. And surely unparliamentarian behaviour. How is that allowed?? Vile.

But the Labour Party... and ferrets. People frothing about that but no acknowledgement of the past disgraceful behaviour of Davies and Chope. Of course they know what a woman is. They're positively hostile to women and contemptuous of them.

He is the MP for Islington North and standing again as an independent candidate

Yes, I know, FFS.

They changed from pledges to promises (or maybe the other way round) and are now The Plan?

Does the King have to approve honours lists?

AdamRyan · 29/03/2024 09:15

SerendipityJane · 28/03/2024 14:10

That would be great. I do not see it happening any time soon though. It will take decades and our politicians are only interested in short term strategy.

An interesting theory is that having totally failed in the regular practice of culling the brightest and best in a war every generation, we are now saddled with an excess of people who are less content with the Way Things Are.

I've read that too.

Every time there's a desperate post going on about how the Conservatives are the only party protecting Women's Rights, I'm going to post this. I'd totally failed to join the dots on Philip Davies

Remember Sunak's promise ? "This government will have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level"?

He's not even pretending to try to fulfil that any more, is he? It's just a case of "Quick, snouts in the trough, boys, we haven't got much time left to grab everything we can whilst we're still in power".

IClaudine · 29/03/2024 10:08

cardibach · 28/03/2024 19:19

No. Because Wales now is constrained by finance allocated from Westminster. By Tories. And actualky, living here, it’s fine.

Yep. I am sick of all the "look at Wales" rubbish. As if we are all living in hovels and eating maggots while our limbs drop off because the NHS is so bad.

Are you sure it was a promise ? That's not a word that is being used by the Tories. "Aspiration" is the currently CCHQ approved word. Meanwhile online archives are amended to reflect the new truth.

So in Tory world no government can seriously be expected to have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level, it's just a vague aspiration, like the way I aspire to be a millionaire but will never achieve it.

That's good to know.

Good. People who constantly hector others about "at least the Conservatives know what a woman is" need to be constantly reminded of Philip Davies and his record.

And now Sunak has actually rewarded him. He leads the party some of the more vocal GC feminists think will protect their interests.

They do not have my vote. But neither do Labour. I will not be voting.

We would need to move because we would need to change schools. The state provision locally is very poor and already oversubscribed. So we will need to move to beside the closest state school that is excellent.

As I said:

Because the Tory government has so underfunded state schools that those near where the PP lives are not fit for their precious to attend.

I do not know why the need to be so nasty. You just demonstrate how this is not about anything but jealousy.

No, some schools are not fit for my children. Obviously, they are not fit for any children. I see that. Both myself and dp grew up in council houses. We value education immensely as we appreciate that we live our lifestyle purely because we were able to be educated. In shit schools.

There are many who would consider my shit bucket car beneath them. There are many who will not do camping holidays in the uk, and think that is beneath them. There are many who have our finances, but choose differently.

There are many who do not have choices. I get that. I want everyone to have choices. You can be a dick to me as much as you like, but I have clawed myself to a place where I have a little bit of money. And yes, my precious get every fucking penny of it.

I have no beauty stuff, I do not drink, we are in no way frivolous, we shop almost exclusively second hand, and we grow our own.

You can attempt to cast me as some kind of privileged twat all you like, but I put my children in private education because there is nothing else here locally (rural) and I don't want them bussed to a shithole.

You cannot tell me you would do otherwise. Everyone in my position would do exactly the same.

Everyone in your position vis a vis schools wouldn’t do the same, as private education is totally beyond most people. Labour would like to change things so that being in that majority isn’t a huge disadvantage.

Anyone who is in my position would be able to do it. It is tight yes, but we can do it. I realise that it is out of reach for many.

Labour have never changed things when in power, so don't delude yourself. I do not support the tories, but I do not think Labour are very different.

They have. Look at what happened last time. Children in their thousands moved out of poverty, NHS at the very top worldwide. I worked in schools before, during and after the last Labour government. It was much, much better when Labour were in power.
Plus the ability for some people to buy educational advantage is abhorrent to me.

How much extra are you expecting to pay?

Snugglemonkey · 30/03/2024 20:02

DuncinToffee · 30/03/2024 19:31

How much extra are you expecting to pay?

Around 7 1/2 thousand extra, on top of the usual yearly increase.

DuncinToffee · 30/03/2024 20:26

Snugglemonkey · 30/03/2024 20:02

Around 7 1/2 thousand extra, on top of the usual yearly increase.

Is that assuming the whole 15% will be passed on to parents?

Which ofcourse might not happen as they could absorp the costs in other ways.

It's a lot of money but the school is a business and the IFS calculates that these tax increases might lead to just 3-7% leaving and would raise about £1.6 billion a year in extra tax revenue.
