30 minute shower

Is this a reasonable shower length? One working bathroom, but could husband says I could knock on door if toilet is needed.

YANBU - this is too long

I wash my hair every morning in the shower.. Takes me 5 mins max to do this and shower.. even if it's an underarm shaving day.

Do you mean the actual time under the water in the shower, or total time in the bathroom

Although I do love a long shower, every day, no 3 min job for me

again only one bathroom so we have said 10minutes showers max. Any longer is taking the piss!

Your bills must be massive. What do people do in the shower for 30 mins. 5 mins for me.

That seems crazy long for just the shower. I can do a complete hair wash/conditioner/under arm shave in 5mins if I need to although prefer 10mins to make it more relaxing. Any more than about 15mins is a waste of water in my opinion.

If other people need to use the bathroom it’s too long, but I probably take that long in total if I’m washing it hair, shaving, brushing teeth etc.

It massively depends on the details imo.

What time does he do it - morning, when everyone's getting ready, or evening, after kids are in bed?

Do you have money worries and high water/heating bills?

Does he do this every day or just e.g. once a week, and takes 5 minutes the rest of the time?

Does he say he's about to get in, so offer you the chance to use the toilet beforehand?

Morning, no money worries, every day, yes he does say (but also it's long enough that I can go from not needing the toilet to really needing it!)

He also does not have waist length hair, for avoidance of doubt. He has short hair.

I have long hair and even when I need to shave my legs and armpits plus wash and condition my hair I'm in and out of the bathroom within 15 minutes.

15 mins (maybe 20 max) is my “everything” shower where I wash & deep condition my long hair as well as shave legs + underarms.

30 mins is excessive every day. Has he explained why he takes that long?

I shower every day and wash my hair daily, too. I'm out in 5 minutes because we cannot bear wasting water or energy AND that's enough time to scrub myself all over as well as the hair wash.

Does he give any thought to the environment here? Any at all? In Cape Town they have a water shortage and limit showers to 2 minutes by law. One of the main concerns when it comes to building the new houses needed is where the water supply is going to come from. And then literal wankers like your husband think nothing of having a 30 min shower.

I can't see how it takes that long. I can be done in 5 minutes. Maybe 10 if I'm washing my hair, which is reasonably long.

If I did a full body exfoliate, face treatment, hair wash, treatment and shaved legs/armpits then maybe I'd be hitting 30 minutes, but that would be a very rare occurrence.

I spend 25 minutes a day in the shower (as in actually with the water running, which seems to padded cell territory on mumsnet), it's my switch-off time as the entirety of my day otherwise is work, childcare & chores. Does your husband get much downtime during the rest of the day?!

So what are you doing? Just standing there?

Tell him it's an inconvenient time for him to be "having fun by himself " if it is holding you up.

1.5 minutes for me, hate shower!
DH probs around 15-20 minutes, teenager 30 minutes.

Love a long shower, but I have joint issues so it helps ease that for a brief moment.

30mins every day is crazy though.

If it was every day, it's too long. But yeah I don't see the problem if you're doing some pampering or getting ready for a night out.
