To share with you my delicious takeaway… yes that is for one person and yes that is a parmo 👌🏼

Not quite as funny when you're getting your foot cut off...

NOBODY IS GETTING DIABETES AND LOSING A FOOT BECAUSE OF ONE FUCKING TAKEAWAY

No need to shout, but that’s not what I said. Unless your are diabetic, I doubt you understand the risks and the damage - which is cumulative: cue ‘I’m type 1 blah blah’

wubwubwub · 18/03/2024 21:05

I understand I'm not uneducated thank you.

FrancisSeaton · 18/03/2024 23:34

@Holypricks there has never been a poster for which a username is more apt

What is in the front left corner

Exactly what I was going to ask. Strips of chocolate?

Freakinfraser · 18/03/2024 13:17

I think it’s chicken in breadcrumbs smothered in melted cheese and white sauce , I shit you not.

thst take away is likely in the region of 1500 calories. But the op is slim and healthy and only ate a quarter of it. So as such, she likely consumed less than 400 calories for her dinner, much lower calorie than many dinners,

Only 1500 calories?! More like 3500 I'd have thought!

Bjorkdidit · 19/03/2024 04:27

Hmm at all the faux naivety about the donner kebab meat.

You'd probably all claim to have never been to McDonald's either and call it MacDonald's to emphasise your unfamiliarity with the brand.

JacquesHarlow · 19/03/2024 04:54

The infantilisation of food by some posters on here reveals a lot.

“Munchy box!”
”Yum yum!”

It’s fine in theory if this is strictly a “solidarity amongst dirty takeaway eaters” thread.

I still think however that we have a really weird damaging food culture here in the UK. I’m British and I don’t really want any part of it .

Predictably, I then get accusations of only eating a lettuce leaf a day, or being a “skinny minnie” (again, why do even the insults have to sound childlike).

I do actually enjoy food. I just don’t enjoy this kind of food. Does that make me a heretic?

And for anyone who accuses me of being judgy, someone posted a poorly lit picture of their takeaway box on the “AIBU”
section of Mumsnet, without any real context other than “look what I’m about to eat”. So yeah.. I would then expect a variety of responses…

Oh for gods sake…. I was taking the piss with the ‘yum yum’ (although suggest you take that up with almost every bakery in the land… cue the faux naïveté now about what I mean). Also the items are on the takeaway menus as ‘Munchy boxes’.

I love food. Love it. I’ve eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world. I’m actually very well educated and well travelled despite the fact that people seem to think us northerners are all pigeon whisperers drowning in gravy…

For the majority of the time my diet is very health, I exercise 4/5 times a week and I remain a size 6 with a perfect hourglass shape. BUT sometimes I like to have food like this… literally a couple of times a year. It’s not that deep.

Do try and calm down dear

You’re way too invested in this 😂 someone buys a takeaway and posts a pic of it on the internet in a light hearted boast - it really isn’t that deep!

If she’d posted a photo of a mountain of pizza boxes with the caption “that’s food for this week sorted” I could understand people responding less favourably but it was ONE takeaway!! Yum yum indeed

I've never had it (and never plan to) and didn't know what it was. But I can assure you, I've eaten many times at McDs. It's not 'faux', it's just not something that appeals to me.

No I wouldn't talk like this in real life because my real life friends are not snobs - when in Rome...

Why do people on Mumsnet continue to use this tired trope “You’re way too invested in this” when someone writes a post contrary to the thread’s direction?

I’m not “too invested.” I don’t need to “calm down” because I’ve not displayed anger or any other emotion at all.

You lot need to find some other phrases because these ones have lost their meaning through misuse.

namechanged0 · 19/03/2024 07:33

Do you have diabetes?

Even if she did, one takeaway isn't going to kill her or cause her to have her foot chopped off 🙄

Nothing faux here. I’ve had lots of shish and enjoy a Maccies sometimes: I’ve never eaten donner but seen it, it didn’t look like that!

No, but I’m guessing this one takeaway will give me diabetes right? 😂

Don't be a twat.

If you think diabetes is funny, you're also a moron.

Sorry OP I love a nice takeaway but that looks disgusting 🫣 I wouldn't want to eat any of that.
I love that someone thought the doner kebab meat was squid ink paparadell- peak mumsnet 😣😁😁😁

I think that pp was joking. And I thought it was a very good joke.

Heard of cumulative damage?

In my original comment I was suggesting that someone laughing about a serious, potentially life limiting illness and disregarding it, knowing full well how damaging it can be, was misplaced. They know that, I know that.
You, and your eye rolling are part of the problem.

Anyway, let’s hope the OP had nothing more than indigestion, if indeed that.

No diabetes isn’t funny - but the suggestion that OP will get diabetes off the back of this one takeaway is hilarious

Ofcourseshecan · 19/03/2024 11:04
