AIBU - Weeing in lay-bys is anti social and fines should apply

Item in the news- Dacorum Borough Council have stopped issuing fines for wild wees in lay-bys.
I know that this is on a technicality (anti littering law used and wild wees not classed as litter) but I think people weeing in lay-bys is appalling. It should be subject to fines. I can forgive toddlers/ young children but not adults. There are solutions for those with medical conditions that mean urgent wees are a symptom. And it’s always men. Women need urgent wees too (possibly more so, pregnancy etc) and we don’t pull up in lay-bys and squat in front of passing traffic. AIBU?

May you never suffer from a dodgy bladder in a 5-mile tailback on the motorway, OP.

Just what I was thinking. I was once stuck in traffic on the M25 that didn't move at all for 4 hours, and loads of people were having to pee on the hard shoulder.

I didn't need a pee on that occasion, but I once had to stop for one in a layby on the A303. It was 3 in the morning and back then (early 80s) there were hardly any 24-hour services on that road.

This. Our city has shut 99% of the public toilets due to cost. Other countries have much better facilities both in urban areas and on roadsides. Here unless you can find a shop toilet you can use or a motorway service station you’re stuck

The public bogs where I live are all closed between 7pm and 7am. Anyone caught short between those hours have a choice between a public pee or pissing their pants.

I'm heavily pregnant if I need to piss and it's a layby or my pants and car I'll piss outside where it'll be washed away by rain and hurt NOONE

Also if people are on tight driving schedules or working in a remote location it can be difficult to have accessible toilets

My previous job involved visiting people at home and most of my patch was rural. I'd generally be able to have a pee in a client's house, but there were several occasions when a client cancelled at the last minute or simply wasn't at home.

I've had to have several pees in woods or gateways to fields as a consequence.

And delivery drivers and workmen can’t ask to use householders’ toilets, in case they then face trial by Mumsnet.

As the little girl said, on first seeing a little boy have a wee while they were out in the countryside ... "That's a useful thing to bring on a picnic!"
