Carole & Michael Middleton orchestrated children's future from birth?

Blueballoons1 · 16/03/2024 12:52

Aibu to think the Middleton's very single handedly claimed the social ladder seamlessly? All three children are wildly rich & accepted in the highest echleons of society. Aibu to think that was no accident but carefully mapped out from birth?

I am the only one who has skimmed through this thread and is mystified not to find mention of Pippa’s bottom?

Bunnycat101 · 16/03/2024 19:04

I’ve never understood the ‘social climbing’ angle to the Middleton story. Michael middleton’s family was multi-generation rich. His father flew with prince Philip and was already in those circles. It’s always been ludicrous to try and turn the Middletons into some sort of rags to riches story. The girls have never known anything other than wealth.

Iagrewithhim · 16/03/2024 17:16

why hide them though? It's a useful insight into the concept of 'they who walk amongst us'.

I guess because actually it comes across as another attempt to kick Kate while she’s down- which seems to be the order of the day - and after a while it feels cruel.

Problem is there are no other meaty threads really- except something about a child vomiting in a plastic bowl at the supermarket…

I think Carole had jumped up a bit from her roots. But so what really? It’s better than being born with every advantage and throwing it all away .

He also had a cake business that would print photos on the top. We got one with Josef Fritzl just to see if he’d do it, thought about alerting the Daily Mail to it, decided not to bother.

Haha that's hilarious!

WaitingforSpring24 · 16/03/2024 19:18

Any parent who ‘helps’ their child into a Russell Group University (ie most of mumsnet) is pushing for their child’s future, and is very class based.

So people in glass houses… !

The Middletons were known, locally, as the Wisteria's - forever climbing. 🙂

Well that beats all the other comments saying they were aristos due to Michael.. They definitely climbed socially & more power to them. It's not as easy these days.

You are probably right. I am surprised though no horse riding was included.

Yes apparently the rumour is Kate's allergic to horses but I've never seen any of the family on top of a horse.. So they missed a trick there.

However the lack of equestrian pursuits didn't hold them back fortunately.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kate ( with her parents encouragment) deffered her degree, picked St Andrews and her uni course to move in same circles as Prince William and she certainly went for it on that uni fashion show!
So I think she was trying to catch his eye!
Clearly they all had all the advantages money , education and connections could get you. And yes I'm sure it doesn't happen entirely by accident but there's no guarantees.

I thought there was something about a poster of him on the wall at school too?

But it’s no crime I guess . And I don’t think it’s true about her having all the connections etc. I seem to recall William’s circle called KM’s mum Doors to Manual - which actually made them sound the less classy ones tbh … So she’s hung in there through some bumps and deterrents and I don’t think it’s always been a walk in the park with flowers springing before her feet because she had every advantage. And it must be worse still now.

iwafs · 16/03/2024 19:24

Also, Kate and both her siblings are all very good looking people. I imagine that helped a lot.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 16/03/2024 19:25

Honestly - why do you care. How have you come to the conclusion. Why is this on your mind. What do you plan to do about it?

Vitriolinsanity · 16/03/2024 13:41

I've sent my son to private school specifically so he can marry Princess Charlotte.

What if he wants to marry Prince Louis?

LittleGlowingOblong · 16/03/2024 19:36

There’s a plausible named source here claiming Kate had accommodation sorted at Edinburgh Uni with two of her best friends before she pulled out at the last minute to take a gap year and re-apply to St Andrews, so there may be a grain of truth in it.

https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/reports/a46092301/kate-middleton-prince-william-university/

But never mind all that… I’m more agog at the Hanbury parents pimping out their two daughters to much older, and in one case likely gay, men. What was their mum thinking??!

The Crown: Why did Kate Middleton decide to swap to Prince William's university?

Carole Middleton may have had something to do with it

TotalDramarama24 · 16/03/2024 19:38

They gave their son James the name William as his middle name so obviously like the name Grin

LittleGlowingOblong · 16/03/2024 19:38

That said, they both have the most gorgeous stately houses in Norfolk and Italy. But still!

Imagine giving birth to a daughter and saying ' right, she's going to marry the future king '.
Why Kate and not Pippa anyway? Wasn't she worthy or something?
Sorry Pippa, we've already earmarked your sister for the king, you'll have to make do with someone else, don't worry though, we'll make sure he's wealthy.

Needless to say the future king was not even born at that time. Kate is a few months older than William.

@Willnoonethinkofthebirds

Considering they were in the same class, in the same year, at the same university, how exactly do you think Carole Middleton knew where William was going, to be able to get her daughter to apply to the same place etc? Out of however many university offers, how did she know in advance which one needed to be accepted? Considering Catherine was at a boarding school, how did Carole even oversee her UCAS form?
I believe Kate is a year older than Will and was in the year ahead. She was planning to go to Edinburgh but changed at the last minute and dumped Edinburgh. Reapplied for St As.
Boarding dc still have parents that are involved in UCAS. Did you actually think they didn't?

No Kate was born Jan 82 and William June 82.

LilyoftheValley53 · 16/03/2024 20:05

You're basing your opinion mainly on The Crown? Idiotic

tittybumbum · 16/03/2024 20:09

@DinaofCloud9
Ok so she was heading to Edinburgh uni. He was taking a gap year and firmed at st Andrew's for the following year.
She dropped her place at Edinburgh and took a gap year and reapplied but to St Andrew's

Meowandthen · 16/03/2024 20:10

Another bullshit thread. You just sound rather nasty OP.

UseItOrloseItt · 16/03/2024 20:20

Kates siblings were always going to have an easy ride once Kate Married Will. Nothing to do with their planning!

This.

They could have looked like Quasimodo and had a fiver to their name...rich, successful climbers would still have chased them just to be able to say 'my sister in law the Queen'.

Well, yeah, and I'll admit I can't be arsed to RTFT but apparently Diana and the Spencers were 'Commoners' - laughable, so y'know, different strokes etc

I was at a boarding school myself. My parents had zero input into my university applications. My son is at one, I have had zero input into his. In both cases, because it is nothing to do with the parent, rather the person applying.

I've just finished the Crown & Carole really was portrayed as the brains begin the operation.

Oh no, not another person who believes the Crown is an actual documentary rather than a work of fiction!

ParrotPirouette · 16/03/2024 20:32

I’ve got my eye on Prince George for my granddaughter.
